Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What's with the 'MOM!!!!' thing? Have we moved to the USA?

I know we need more gender balance on the radio or at least we're told we need it. But apart from this, I briefly turned on Newstalk about 1230 this morning and it was just the same. Felt like I was sitting in a coffee shop and the two women at the next table were just having a loud natter that everyone else couldn't not hear. Hit the off button.

    This is abysmal radio.

Katt-rin and her ( MOM of 7  ) contributor scoffing at the notion of competitiveness as if it was a nonsense.

It's the egg n spoon race ffs,not gladitorial ancient Rome.

Competition is healthy. Especially in sports.

It builds character and instills a sense of reality.

Not every child can be an astronaut or a brain surgeon. There is a structure to life, and we all slot into our own positions.

Not everyone can be a winner 24/7.

Keep your fluffy ,hippy dippy crap to yourselves. :(

Not every child is good at English or Maths yet school rate them on how they do.

What's the difference in that and a child who is gifted at sports shining for one day a year if they aren't going to be top of the class in school subjects.

Dare I say it... but the amount of people on Boards who 'demanded' Mooney's departure...!
Sometimes it's better leaving well enough alone...

Mooney wasn't the worst, a few too many hobby horses that should have been curtailed.

She was on a hairy plane last night in de rain and wind, coming from Isle of Man. Sure that’s only about 30 minutes of hairiness. I flew in last night, would be more concerned at lack of staff at Dublin Airport.

My landing was fine, on a Ryanair 737. She was presumably on Stobart ATR, which can be finicky about which directions the air currents are coming from.

Kathryn Thomas and her “walk-in wardrobe”. In my place that would be my bedroom.

Rory O’Neill on, sounds p1ssed as often he does. How many accents are in the mixing pot there? He’s lapsing carelessly into Mayo there, we all know about the big American twang, and of course there’s the big Gay twist to offset what would otherwise be a plain growling masculine voice. His accent is all over the place, and rather slurred as if stirred up by a recreational substance or two.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,909 ✭✭✭Gwynplaine

Sounds like he has had 7 or 8 pints. Rambling, slurring, I'd say the mic will have to be thrown out, there's that much spit on it.

Richard ?. And Eaona Knowitall wrecked my head

Richard ?. And Eaona Knowitall wrecked my head

    Doctor Richard Collins to us!

    I like wildlife programmes, so I've always found Mooney's shows fairly interesting, except when he delves into Eurovision chat or is interviewing Mary Byrne (what is the fixation with Mary Byrne?}

But my favourite part of the show is the passive aggressive dialogue between Éanna Ní Lamhna and Richard Collins. I don't imagine they exchange Christmas cards.

The thing is... she does know what she's talking about, which is different to being a 'Knowitall' which essentially is what Ray D'arcy (let's focus on him, as it's his program the thread is about) tends to be...

If you really want to know how the BAI works, I have a few examples from your own show Ray, where you were called on your own bias.

If your a guide in the place I would think that the names of the parts of the building would be basic knowledge. !. Is that too much to expect ?

I didn't hear the show, was it part of some kind of summer job he once had?

Surely we all had jobs like that. The brain is a great computer, whose strength seems to be in regularly shedding itself of useless information, such as ecclesiastical architecture.
