Where the UKmet hi res model has that first band of potential sleet & snow at 7pm this eve:

    ceBDjgv.png

Moves through quickly but the model has it turning to sleet and snow from about west Sligo to west Kerry eastwards.

looks very fragmented for much of Leinster, I wonder will it even make it intact to the east coast.

I wouldn't worry too much about the specifics on that map.

Based on the current conditions there's a good chance we will see snow from this, IMO.

Alot of snow higher up in Wicklow.

Sallys Gap just had snow at the sides of the road.

Kippure got pasted but thats at 760 Metres approx.

This winter is only beginning, I would'nt worry about not getting snow this winter.

Theres a blizzard or 2 coming.:)

If so, it'll be intensity induced. Cold air being dragged down from the clouds as the the air here on the surface just too wet and warm to sustain anything in its own right. It's nice to see the snow, but this is crap weather. Cold, but not cold enough. Wet, but not remarkably so. Windy, but just annoyingly so. What a pisspot of a place when you think about it.

We have about 3 inches of lying snow most of which has fallen since mid morning in heavy showers, had a few showers of graupel during the night not amounting to much. Showers have petered out now.

    South east Sligo, 255m

What's it looking like for snow in the south east? Doubt it will snow here.

Where are you? I've noticed localised rain/hail/sleet in Derry on a regular basis, you could be driving down the Buncrana road in the rain and suddenly it stops and the ground is dry. I wouldn't even be surprised to see Scalp mountain covered in snow with Eskaheen next to it bare.

I often notice that the letterkenny area does exceptionally well in these westerlies with lying snow whilst everywhere east is 3c and rain, even on the hills. It’s a little odd as they are far closer to the Atlantic.

Less likely now. I wouldn't be expecting snowfall in Dublin.

Can hear heavy rain at work..extra elevation did very little. Not sure how people are getting lying snow they must be up exceptionally high if it is raining at 100 metres
