Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Love the blades, where did you get them?
That looks like the exact ramp that's in my whirlwind, is it just clicking and not going up/down?

Bought the mirror blades from "ministry of pinball" expensive, but they really look amazing.

The ramp was just flopping up and down in the middle ..

its working now mostly, but it just seems to be delayed every now and again, eg it will catch the ball under it sometimes and you have to wait for it to flick out. i think it just needs more adjusting now to get right.

Sorry for invading this sacred arcade space, but I was rooting around on the interweb for a tankstick skin... don't ask, and I saw this puppy...
USB controllers for cocktail cab projects
    They look really nice imho
    RM-XT-COCK-CON-2T.jpg

    RM-XT-COCK-CON-5T.jpg

Expensive, I guess at €199 for a set, but I imagine, coupled with a RP3 in scratch build they'd be ideal, especially if you aren't of a mind to build a control panel yourself, well particularly if you don't want to or lack the skillz.... like me!

Maybe it's just me but when I look at the button layout all I can see is

Yeah, but I think the site can customise the button lay out.
Still, if I was rolling in dosh and building a cocktail cab, it looks like a good solution.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,906 ✭✭✭CosmicSmash

They do look nice, the veneer is a nice touch. I'm sure if you considered the time and money involved in fabricating a similar cp from scratch these would be a good alternative. The button configuration would be a problem that could be easily overcome if there was a choice of layouts available. The option to use different sticks or buttons wouldn't be a bad idea either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,783 ✭✭✭eddhorse

They do look nice alright, nice finish.

In other news finally swapped out the main power lead going to the Astro. The old one had no ground cable, Japanese i presume.
Added an extension lead inside just in case.
Connected the marquee light to the extension lead.
Had to make sure it can still all come apart easily for future moving.

    Nope, but heard good things.
Was gonna get one but went with the metal hole drill bit.
We should have a communal boards.ie tool box.
I have a rubber mallet for T-molding that I only used once. Long list of tools like that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,790 ✭✭✭Jack burton

I have a metal drill bit set so never used a hole punch but heard they are good

I was only thinking today that I have to get a rubber mallet for some t moulding I have to put on. Ended up getting one on the way home from work. Knowing full well I will use it maybe a handful of times. Wasn't expensive but all those parts add up

As some of you know I've got a Ridge Racer Upright arcade machine. Maybe someone might know, if I purchased a Ridge Racer 2 PCB only(no io boards etc) can I just plug it in and play away? I mean it is all the same controller boards and IO boards as far as I know, but maybe someone knows for sure?

    Cheers

Looks like EnterNow has seen this before :

All System 22 stuff is rom swappable. All the System 22 boards are the same, the rom set is what makes it a specific game. A rom set on a System 22 board consists of the 4 main code eproms, the sound roms (usually masks or similar), the C-chip (encryption chip), the point rom board and the video rom board, and three pals (although I think they are the same between RR1 and RR2).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,790 ✭✭✭Jack burton

I used to play that arm wrestling machine on holidays in Spain, thinking back now to how manky the hand was from sweaty Costa del sol heads playing with it.

Nah, those things just ooze retro charm. The newer version above looks good in that tacky way that some arcade machines can get away with, but when you know it's just a pc inside them it kinda takes away from the magic a little bit for me :( Bespoke arcade hardware ftw!

Might be worth firin him a PM, although there's something like 30 comments on the FB photo, so I'd say his inbox has received a deluge of interest already.

Id say worry about PJ first. Mine was pretty good on a cream wall due to model i bought and thats only at low lamp mode, i have living room mode too thats so bright u can watch curtains open. Screen was much better. Or try special paint u can get and skip screen.

Recommend Epsons 6100s or 9100s or try find Panasonic pt6000 2nd hand as it has auto lens memory gor 235:1 or 16:9 at press of button.
Need any help. Just PM me...

Anyone with repro parts on their candy knows the secret shame it brings.
Took me a year or so to break away from said shame :)

hhumm Tempting. Anyone on here have one?
They seem like a bit of Holy Grail if they so uncommon. They look fantastic too.
Only issue is that price and having no idea what your buying as no pictures and 12 of them, so be could be spotless and others needing work?

Still tempted tough :) Jamma Cocktail to replace Woody Jamma Cab :)

These are from 1988 :) Crazy they look so modern!

at a guess more than likely missing the marquee thing over the speaker pods and possibly the speaker pod as well ,only a guess as these are parts that have been missing from aero tables over the years

hmm ,I also remember seeing some without control panel assemblies before ,so maybe this is what he is getting reproduced

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 34,633 CMod ✭✭✭✭CiDeRmAn

This is a quote of the email from Ronnie
    Sega Aero Tables update

I get a lot of mail with questions about the Sega Aerotables, so an Update :

I have 12 of them in stock
I tested 2 of them and they are working with burnfree screen
The control panel holder, control panel, speaker holder with illumination are missing
I am working on prices for reproductions, should have those prices end of this week

Price in this condition is 1495 euro ex shipping.

So that price seems to be in an as is condition

I played one before in Tokyo.
They look cool as **** but they don't play well.
Also I bet if I had one stuff would start piling up on top of it!but that would be any cocktail.
    Still want one ...................

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 33,733 ✭✭✭✭Myrddin

Crazy money for one with so many important parts missing. They look great, can't say I'd be tempted to buy one though, I doubt they're very comfortable to actually play on for very long.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 616 ✭✭✭Casey120

They look cool but are a pain to play for long periods , you'll end up a hunchback and a broke one .

How long do you guys usually sit in front of your cabs in one session? I'd say I probably average about 15-20 minutes.

Couldn't imagine using one or hori games, but 20 minutes in front of a vertical would be grand.

Although I do remember someone saying that due to the screens being so large compared to a Western cocktail, you get some curvature issues when trying to see the top half of a vertical screen :pac:

Would anyone have an egret 2 or egret 3 2L12B panel with a layout like the one below?

Would anyone strip the panel down and take some measurements or else entrust it to me via parcel motel to let me do it? I'd pay costs obviously.

I have a small project in mind but dimensions of this panel type don't see to be on the net.

    Open to ideas and alternatives.

    Thanks for reading!
