Merry Christmas everyone!! From a reader not a contributor to this great forum. Thanks for all the great work that goes into the forecasting here and for helping us across the irish sea and down the M4 in the UK the other day :)

Estonian Hirlam model suggesting Galway, Clare, Cork, Kerry etc seem to be getting the strongest winds at around +46 hours (5am Fri morning).

At the moment it looks like the city would see gales to strong gales at times, closer to storm force down around Bantry.

Depends on the track. If it goes a bit further north (and they usually do) then not as windy for the south coast.

From the latest sea area forecast :
Winds will veer southwest on Thursday night, possibly touching violent storm force 11 in places.

Happy crimbo all. I'll be back to take a look at the 12Z models after the turkey.
