Very good deals on continental tires on bike24.com
Got a set of Grand Prix attack and force for €45

Essentially the same tyres as the Grand Prix 4000s postage is €10 but even with just that they're great value.
GP 4000s and GP 4seasons are available for €30 though I was also tempted to just get the regular Grand Prix at €15. Have one since new on the front of my bike for more than two years 10,000K or so and I only got my second puncture in it a week ago and the first flat was nearly two years ago.

Also picked up 2 pairs of SwissStop black brake pads for €16.90 from them.

Just delivered very quick in contrast to my order from ribble. Ordered from bike24 Sunday dispatched Monday. Ribble order was dispatched Wednesday last week the 16th and I just got a note from the post man this morning to say he tried to deliver and to pick it up tomorrow.. Others who ordered after me got their orders last week so this is probably down to An Post.

Only question is how do I explain to the missus that I'm building *another* bike, to be used very occasionally? Actually I think I could buy that frame for €160 and someone would buy it off me for €200 in two weeks' time...

Surely the thing to do is explain your building a bike for her!

Ultegra Chainset with Bottom Bracket £118.74 (about €140) delivered from Merlin.

An unusual one for ya. Entertainment Exchange on Liffey Street Upper in 'town' have an Edge 200 in the window for €82. Presumably used but in its original box.
Probably worth trying to haggle in these second hand electrical shops too.
They also have an Edge 800 for €348 but I don't know if that includes any extras like maps heart rate strap etc

ordered last night, dispatched this morning. Wiggle and CRC had a discount on the attack/force combo but nearly twice the price of Bike24, thanks Ryath ;)

Bare bones blue Garmin Edge 500's going for £125/€147 in CRC's private sale.

The private sale seems to apply to anyone who's bought online from them before and has a login.

Ends Monday - 30% off their price for the blue 500, compared to 20% reduction on the normal CRC page.

Anyone seen better than this? They also offer the 500 bundle with cadence and HRM for €218.

    The link ...http://links.chainreactioncycles.mkt5115.com/ctt?kn=10&ms=NTQ5NzYxMwS2&r=MzI3ODUzOTM1NTQS1&b=0&j=NjQwODI1MDYS1&mt=1&rt=0

Need to stop spending money on CRC.

Somewhat dismayed this morning to find that my electron lights had died (to be fair they were on their way out), thankfully it was bright enough on the way in.

Loved them, dual header, 320 lumens and rechargeable, the perfect "FUCK YOU, CAN YOU SEE ME NOW" commuting lights, so I was worried I'd have to spend big bucks to replace them.

    Nope.
    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=70572

Bought two of these. 300 lumens of rechargeable goodness for €60. Bargain. These would be easily good enough for training on unlit roads too.

Seamus if you can still cancel the order I think getting one Lezyne Macro drive for the same price is a better buy. There is more power in one 18650 cell than two RCR123s and I reckon the different optics in the newer Lezyne get more out of the lower powered LEDs They also have battery charger indicators
    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=86383

Or for €20 more you can get it with the micro drive rear light.
    http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/showPart.asp?part=LEZYLIGH224&bike=

I had a super drive for a year and half now and its a brilliant light very wide even beam not much of a hot spot. The macro drive I got recently is nearly as good. It has more of a hot spot but throws further even on the low 100 lumens it throws further than my superdrive on the mid 300 lumens. They compliment each other well with the wider beam set low and the other aimed further up the road. The macro drive by it's self is perfectly usable at the mid 200 lumens setting on unlit roads. The cut outs on the side definitely add a lot of side visabily. The mounts are very handy as well easy to move between bikes.

I'd spend the extra €20 and get the set with the rear micro drive I'm very impressed with it blows my smart 1/2watt out of the water even on the lowest setting. It's great knowing going out it is full charged and you can see the battery indicator while cycling with a quick glance down.

I was actually looking at that too, but my lights are dead now so I need it this week, not happy riding with a basic backup light.

Tbh, I don't do any riding on unlit roads, so the nuances aren't that big a deal for me, a +/- 10% different in output doesn't bother me. I also prefer the idea of having two lights so if one dies, I still have the other (unlike now I have no decent light), and the dual header has on a number of occasions fooled people into thinking I'm a motorbike and they give me loads of time/room :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,372 ✭✭✭Ryath

+1 on the carrying two lights was never comfortable using just the superdrive at night used to carry a head lamp in my pocket just in case or had a really crappy cateye that despite costing €50 puts out as much light as the LED on my phone. Much happier being out at night now with the macrodrive knowing I have a decent back up. Don't know where you leave your bike at work but I'd prefer brackets you can whip of the bike, had brackets robbed before on a bike in UCD
If you're in rush for the lights cycle surgery in Dundrum carry lezyne were similar in price to chainreaction when I was there before.

The last ones look particularly nice...The shops (bar CRC) still seem to think there is more cold weather to come, so the bib tights are not reduced unless it is a brand they aren't stocking anymore, which seems to be Skins and Campy in the case of CRC.

Interestingly, I ordered stuff from them last week and it arrived less than 48 hrs later, which was swift!

You will need to be swift yourself as the sale finishes on Wed ^^^
