D.B Cooper Even if we actually knew his identity it still is a fascinating story.

Jack the ripper, always wanted to know was it a cover up for a member of the establishment.

Mary Celeste, one of those childhood bed stories that still makes you wonder.

What ever happened to Lord Lucan, was he done away in the end over his dept from his gambling or did he actually make a new life for himself and if so where?
Jack the Ripper is intressting but have you heard of spring heel jack? He is way more mysterious...

I'd be interested to know if the three lads who escaped from Alcatraz in 1962 ever made it to freedom or died crossing the water.

The Dyatlov Pass incident is certainly up there. Interesting as I had never heard of it before reading about it on this thread. A few more:

I've heard nothing like Mothman before. I really don't know what to make of it. I think of it as a bit like seances or ouija boards - to be avoided at all costs !

Oak Island Treasure Site
Quote:
Oak Island is a 140-acre (57 ha) island in Lunenburg County on the south shore of Nova Scotia, Canada. The tree-covered island is one of about 360 small islands in Mahone Bay and rises to a maximum of 35 feet (11 m) above sea level. Located 200 metres from shore and connected to the mainland by a modern causeway, the island is privately owned, and advance permission is required for any visitation.
Oak Island is noted as the location of the so-called Money Pit and the site of over 200 years of treasure hunting.[1] Repeated excavations have reported layers of apparently man-made artifacts as deep as 31 meters, but ended in collapsed excavations and flooding. Critics argue that there is no treasure and that the pit is a natural phenomenon, likely a sinkhole.[2]

Never heard of this legend before cheers. But i started to wonder, when i read this from Wiki article

In the beginning of the 1870s, Spring-heeled Jack was reported again in several places distant from each other. In November 1872, the News of the World reported that Peckham was "in a state of commotion owing to what is known as the "Peckham Ghost", a mysterious figure, quite alarming in appearance". The editorial pointed out that it was none other than "Spring-heeled Jack, who terrified a past generation".[15] Similar stories were published in The Illustrated Police News

Why do I have to pay for billions I haven't lost, but other private persons and companies did so?
