    Sounds like a good lad

Marty Moore suffered a season-ending ankle ligament injury in the fixture. He will see a specialist later this week.

Jacob Stockdale sustained a hamstring injury in the same game. His recovery will be monitored on an ongoing basis.

Feck it anyway. Neither sounds too good.

One of the all time greats of Irish rugby.

Hopefully he remains a part of Ulster Rugby in some capacity after he retires.

He was on Joe's House of Rugby (the English one) and he said he might try and stay involved in some capacity, but will use the gap after the WC to decide.

You’d have to think he’d take the rest of next season out before moving into coaching somewhere if that’s what he wants. Few months out with the family, maybe a bit of punditry.

Question now is, has he already played his last game for them?

BBC saying he should be fit for any potential semi final, so if that's right then it is possible that he has

Best has been an incredible servant and hopefully he gets to go out on his terms in the WC. Herring is now my tip for next Irish hooker.

    some man for one man.

Will have regrets about his Lions tours but ultimately I'd say that's it. What a player.

The most successful captain Ireland have ever had. One of the best players to ever pull on the white jersey. He can retire a happy man.

I reckon Ulster would have beaten Toulouse today and I'd say there is a fair chance they'd have toppled Munster yesterday.

    Discuss.

Well we are moving in the right direction. But it's hard to compare.

I think that if we end up playing Munster in the play offs we should have no fear. I'm not saying we would be favourites...Munster would be, but we would definitely have a real chance.

If ye have Munster in Belfast I'd have ye as mild favorites.

    That's not possible.

To be fair we'd be favourites against anyone in Belfast outside of Leinster and Saracens.

Saturday's match will have the feel of a pre season friendly I fear. Little chance of either coach risking injuries to key players with more important matches to come. Can't blame them of course but only pride to play for as result is irrelevant to league positions. Those who have got tickets will possibly feel a bit shortchanged. Could yet be a dress rehearsal for league final although Connacht and Munster/Glasgow will beg to disagree.

Could be a glorified A match. And I wouldn't blame the coaches if it was.

I for one am excited for the half time Jack McGrath hand over ceremony.

It will be significantly weakened sides but there will be an element of using the game to prepare for what's coming down the line.

Leinster will need to give game time to certain players. Hugh O'Sullivan will need a run out to see how he gets on in advance of potentially benching in the HEC final. Jack McGrath will probably start. Porter and Ruddock are likely to be involved if fit to get their minutes up ahead of the final too.

Where Leinster are going to be absolutely gutted is in the second row. For that reason, I can see them starting Fardy again. Jack Dunne is in his exams at the moment so I don't think he's available. Oisin Dowling isn't fully fit either, I believe.

I could see a team of something like McGrath, Byrne, Porter, Josh Murphy, Fardy, Ruddock, Deegan, Doris, HOS, Frawley, McFadden, Reid, ROL, Tomane, DK.

Not terrible but extremely beatable for Ulster.

    Clancy is the referee.

Leinster can play whoever they like now.

We will probably rest O'Sullivan as he has played a lot and Best won't be fit and Moore is out for the season, I'd be staggered if we played Hendy and it seems unnecessary to risk Coetzee as he is too important and has played a lot. I'd guess we will rest Murphy as well, but I'd be less sure about that one.

Cooney and Burns have played a lot, give them a break, if Lowry is fit give him a run in his best position. It will be Cave's last game at Ravenhill, surely he starts, Marshall needs more game time. McCloskey needs a break. I assume Stockdale won't play and that Ludik is still injured.

    15 Lyttle
    14 Balacoune
    13 Cave
    12 Marshall
    11 Kernohan
    10 Lowry
    9 Shanahan
    1 Warwick
    2 Herring
    3 O'Toole
    4 O'Connor
    5 Treadwell
    6 Rea
    7 Timoney
    8 Reidy

Caleb Montgomery is off to Worcester next season.

Provided they stay up that is a very good move for a guy who has played only once or twice for Ulster.

Very weak Ulster team selected to play Leinster tomorrow.

    1 Warwick
    2 Andrew
    3 Kane
    4 Nagle
    5 O'Connor
    6 Rea
    7 Ross
    8 Reidy
    9 Shanahan
    10 McPhillips
    11 Kernohan
    12 Nelson
    13 Cave (c)
    14 Busby
    15 Lowry

Bench - McBurney, O'Hagan, O'Toole, Marcus Rea, Timoney, Stewart, Owens, Lyttle

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,274 ✭✭✭RobbieRuns

That is not a strong team.

Who's Busby? and Nelson at 12 should be fun.

Leinster will win this tomorrow. In fairness, it's a nothing game for both teams, and we've clearly decided we aren't remotely bothered by it with this team selection.

At a push 3 of that team (Kane, Reidy and Lowry) will start next week, maybe O'Connor, but I think Treadwell is ahead at the moment.

Playing Kane is a big risk, if one of him Kane or O'Toole gets injured who comes in? Presumably that's why Kane plays and O'Toole benches, there is no one else.

    Agree Leinster will win.

I actually wish we had been a bit braver in one or two positions.

For example Marcus Rea instead of Clive Ross and maybe someone like Stewart Moore instead of Peter Nelson.

I think Busby has been injured all season, I haven't seen enough of him.

On paper you would think Nelson at 12 will be great news for Reid and Tomane. With my glass half full hat on I'd say sometimes these things work out ok. Lowry at 15 being a recent example. Nelson did play a lot of his age group rugby in the centre.

I actually think this could be a bit of a rout. Leinster's backline is very experienced, and their pack is solid.
