Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just home. Well worth €28 for 2+2. We had to get off the train, as the guys dressed up scared the crap out of the kids. They had to tone it down after, alot of kids were crying. Kept it to the petting farm and the playground.

    Jesus!

Maybe I'll wait till next week when he's a little bit older ;)

We were talking to a few parents getting coffee, and their teenagers were scared. Some of the stuff was very clever, a pet cemetery with headstones for peppa pig, George, and a few for the older kids with snoopy and chicken little. It's a massive site. I'm from the far side of kilmeague, and I was never there before. I'll skip it at Christmas, as we've palmerstown booked, but I'd say Easter would be a runner. Who's scared of the Easter bunny!

Howdy, question on house prices in Johnstown. Why the relative low value as opposed to Naas? When you look at house sizes etc. There are some fantastic looking houses there. Is the dump the issue (smell?)?

A relative bought one of the top end houses at the start of development but moved after a few years as missed living in Dublin too much.

    What's Lullymore?

Try Jungle Den, kids love it.

We have a newborn and a 14 month old and we've been in a few of them now between birthday parties and going ourselves. But our eldest loved the jungle den definitely has the best area for toddlers.

The fire brigade has been by my house every night around 630. Tonight they've been down twice. I take it they're down putting out fires in the park?

    What's Lullymore?

An odd mix of a vistor centre for some turf industry related things, a crazy golf course, some restored old buildings; and seasonal stuff like the halloween stuff. I believe it was at least part funded by the ESB as a job creation scheme for the closure of the power plants, they did the same in Donegal at Dunlewey and so on.

Haven't been since 2003, seems to have changed a fair bit since then even.

Yes, was passing tonight and saw them. It's a regular occurance. Have often been walking the dog in the night and gangs of teens with nothing else to do. It's especially bad in the run up to Halloween.

How many were there? I wouldn't mind going down some evening and having a chat with them.

Monread. The fences at the playground get pulled down and set alight every year. The guards try to go down every so often to catch them, but there's so many ways out, they always disappear.

Food in Hartes is amazing. I got someone in work to go there who had to do a fair drive to get to it and they done nothing bit rave about the place.

so why don't they learn their lesson and don't put wooden fences there any more ....

that play area should be metal fenced & gated up every night....its only a matter of time that some mindless gang of bored teenagers will light the place up and there will be nowhere for the small kids that use it

I've been living around the corner for 20yrs and my kids spent many a day down there when they were very young...lots of memories there, would be a shame for it to get damaged

Hindsight is a great thing, but the council are lacking. I remember there was a fire lit in the middle of it and the whole ground had to be replaced. Big bucks.

Naas town council must be the worst in the country with their track record at this stage
If i lived on that road i'd prob have gone insane at this stage

Hopefully NTC have zero involvement with any M7 upgrades

You know there's a kind of a short cut mick to get back into the town from Killashee?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,877 ✭✭✭matchthis

I heard from a few in town that it was meant to be December, but it got pushed back till March. Doesn't look like much left to do though. Be great when it's done

I've been doing this every day coming out of Killashee.
A friend got pulled over doing it.
    Its complete bull****.
No need for the road to be closed between killashee and pipers hill at this stage.

    Ha

I'm in the horrors with no drink for November.

It's like what they say, you'll only miss it when it's gone. Not that I have them much business. But given a choice, I'd rather the Lodge open than just be left with Maudlins.

They do some nice treats to. Went a bit mad like a kid let loose in a candy shop the weekend and bought half the shop to test them out.

Does anyone here know anything about he new estate Landen park? I can't find anything about it online other than the brochure.

What's that area of Naas like? Have there been any issues with the site? Any thoughts appreciated!

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 23,146 ✭✭✭✭beertons

It's beside the gaa on the Sallins road. Nice houses. Beside a school too. Close to the big Tesco, near enough the train station. Loads of nice walks around there, cycle paths.

I dunno really, what are facilities alike that side of town? Traffic? Schools?

I emailed the agents last week but they didn't bother replying. Have to email again.

Is it still looking like a construction site? We are abroad so can't see it for ourselves until xmas.

Facilities are good, very close to Tesco etc. a 5 minute walk to the town

Not sure about schools but being close to the town should be good !

There is a mixed national school right beside it. The secondary schools are within walking distance as they are in the town, all except Pipers Hill college which is the other side of town.
Traffics is fine, except for the school open and close times when it's heavy but that normal for most of Naas.
You have Naas GAA on your doorstep. A huge Tesco, Aldi and 24hr drive thru McDonald's a few mins drive away.
    It's not a construction site.

I see in the Leader that Focus Ireland are opening a shop beside the entrance to the old Superquinn supermarket.

Very handy to have all the charity shops reasonably near each other. (apart from Jay Jays the far end of town)

The new bus stop could be a bit of a disaster. Will traffic be able to overtake a stopped Coach if traffic is coming from the other way? If not it could lead to bad traffic that could have been avoided with better design.

The roundabout on Sallins and the Piper's Hill works seems to be going on for ages now, will be glad to see them finished off.

Is John Conroy's closing down or just having a sale?

Have to say I never went in there until the sale sign went up, but was pleasantly surprised once I went in, got some nice bits in there for half nothing. If he were to go, it would be another blow to that end of the town in particular.

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 23,146 ✭✭✭✭beertons

He's forever having a sale. He was in a better spot years ago, beside Brownes. I find Conroys clothes weren't of great quality. Whelans is much better gear. The layout is a bit hickey mick, but that shop has been in the town as long as my dad can remember, so he's doing something right. Brownes has good stuff too, part of the Diffney shops, but is a bit more expensive.

He was closing but cancelled it. Don't know why but he gives great service. Never sold me anything that didn't fit me right.
