Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Apart from the stone-aged gunnery system, I don't know yet. Give me a few more exercises. For example, I haven't yet figured out just where one sleeps on the thing.
No offence, but your tank is hung like a mouse:eek::D

If it was a tank. 25mm cannon and twin missile launcher. As I said, I've traded the tank in.

At least get his name right John Doody, this is a military photo thread not a political one. Bloody Sunday was 36 years ago and there is an ongoing enquiry into the contested circumstances. The Parachute Regiment judges soldiers on their merits, black soldiers were accepted on their ability as soldiers long before other regiments were prepared to accept them, citizens of the Irish republic have also served. Training soldiers for an aggressive combat role and then posting them to deal with hostile civilians was always going to be contentious. Republicans dispise the Paras not because of Bloody Sunday, but because on tours by the Paras they were given no quarter 24/7.

A very young (and skinny) Mairt!.

    6034073

    For anyone whose interested.

I'm holding a Gustaf SMG in the COMCEN (Communications Center), Camp Shamrock (Tibnine) Lebanon. The radio in the background is an old '46 set' (VHF) and as far as I can recall that one was on the battalion net.

    63rd Inf.Bn. UNIFIL. 1988 (I was only a slip of a lad)

**Anyone who remembers the Gustaf SMG will know why it doesn't have its mag fitted!!**

Also from the same 'trip' and typical 'Comms' bunker..

This one was the bunker in Tulin camp, again the old '46 set' and ten line switchboard to the OP's

    6034073

Sorry for the poor quality photos, but digital camera's were the thing of science fiction back in '88.

But a little information on the bunker photo (if you can see the detail)

Above the radio's are two registeration plates, with a story behind them.

We didn't have encripted radio's back then and the Israeli's (and everyone else) listened into our radio traffic.

We one day the Amal militia made a attack on an Israeli compound (a PVP if anyone remembers them - Permanent Violation Posts). The AE's (Armed Elements) escaped through Qabrika (spelling?) village in a white Merc. Someone on post UN-6-14 radioed in the details (in clear!!), the Israeli's sent in a gunship to take out the car, spotted two car's of similiar description in the village and blew them both up.

One was a family car, the other was the AE's.

The registration plates were a reminder about giving out such details in clear again.

Oh, the cat on the radio... He was just keeping his arse warm and the bunker free of rats!.

Just wondering about this graffitti, does anyone know what units were stationed in McKee Bks in the early 20th century or even the late 19th century?.
