Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Staying away from UK/Irl stocks until Brexit has sorted itself out unless something seems extreme value.

My picks for the new year:

NOK, was $5.57 at close 03/01 (no current holdings, currently trading in an upwards channel with strong prospects, particularly in 5G space), looking for an entry around $5.40)

MU was $31.00 at close 03/01 (bought some at xmas at $29.01) - long term hold, memory prices low and expected to remain until second half this year, 3D XPoint looks very interesting. Market may have oversold to current levels. $31 area held strongly yesterday despite AAPL (which is a major customer) approx 10% fall.

UNFI was $11.00 at close 03/01, previously bought at $9.98 and sold (mistakenly) at $10.35, looking for reentry on this (technical analysis based), monitoring, may to have bottomed out as massive volume spike at last drop, fundamentals look solid seems to have be wildly oversold (IMO)

CLF ($7.63 at close 03/01), TA shows it trading in a downward channel since September however that channel is close to the longer term upward trend line (since 2016), Trump's dealings with China may well have a big bearing on it, from a TA point of view its interesting to watch.

Overall a lot will depend on the orange faced one's antics this year of course.

NOK, was $5.57 at close 03/01 - Currently $6.10 (didn't get a chance to enter, still watching)
MU was $31.00 at close 03/01 - Currently $34.06 (was >$36 a short while ago, holding)
UNFI was $11.00 at close 03/01 - Hit $15.58 two days ago, currently $12.90, should have stayed in...
CLF ($7.63 at close 03/01) - Bought at that price, $9.15 currently, will watch like a hawk around $9.50 for an exit or may just sell and sleep easy!

Happy so far. Biggest missed opportunity was UNFI, perfect technical setup and fell exactly at my TA zone, shoulda-wudda-coulda, hindsight is 20/20 as they say.

Currently eyeing up CLDR ($12.58), see short term resistance at $12.93 and around $14 with a target of $18.80

JD looks interesting too, but am a bit on the fence for now. Stock looks to have bottomed and has a possible triangle suggesting an upwards pop. Currently $22.41, think i'll wait to see if it fills the gap from Jan 14th before making a decision.

Cheers. It's up 130% since the other day which is great. Up 45% so far today. It will go way further. Action taken by shareholders will actually further increase the SP but slight fear is if it gets suspended it would not be good. Rollercoaster few days ahead I suppose
    Cute Hoor wrote: »
Well done Nortus, I know nothing about them but that is a fabulous return in a couple of days, up 25% today. It might be worth taking out profit, you could get your initial investment back and still have significant stock, effectively free. With that sort of volatility there may be a chance to do a bit of short term trading as well. Well done!

Collabarative software company, best known for JIRA. In and out from around $40 a year ago, currently at $90. I think it will be a major acquisition in the next few years, would be perfect for msft, so will keep my toes in

Actually Magnis got a bit of a bump today as they're moving into gigafactory building in India (previously new York ).

Bit of a bump now... and I reckon they'll edge down again like before. But if they go back to 28 it might be a good long term play.

Anyone have any thoughts on Johnson and Johnson (JNJ) at current levels?

Taken a bit of a dip the past month so thoughts are it's not a bad entry point for a long term play?

Its a mess, other lithium producers getting hammered aswell though, I've put my lithium investments in the drawer and forgotten about them now, come back in a year or two...

Its hard to know. Theres a large overhang (somewhere around 12 Million shares according to Hot Copper commentators) that need to be purchased from Shareholders that didn't qualify/subscribe for 'New' A40 shares. This is going to cause weakness for some time. But when that gets sorted there should be a strong re-bound. Lithium in general is not doing well either but that too will eventually turn around

I think its a buying opportunity at present, soo I bought a few more shares last night to bring my average BEP down from the original $0.2818 AUD offer price.

Dalata has climbed nicely for me in the last two weeks or so, up about 10%. That being said, I'm not touching anything else on the ISEQ.

Whats your exit point for Dalata?. Results are out on Feb 26th. Rumour is they are going to be good....but this might already be priced into the SP which is up over 20% since Nov.

I'm thinking 'buy the rumour, sell the news'. The SP could fall back down when the results come out ?? €6 seems a nice exit point which would lock in 28% profit for me

Spodumene pricing is taking a major hit as subsidies to Chinese chemical converters are cut (the like of which A40 and others have offtake agreements with) and the price of their carbonate/hydroxide output also falls. Given the number of gigafactories in the pipeline and the jumps in EV production in the last year or two I'm confident we'll see boom times again. Best to sit on it for now as fortunes can change very quickly in the lithium game.

    Share Pick 2019:

    NYSE:AX (AXOS FINANCIAL) Formerly BOFI
Current price $28.57, Market Cap $1.8B, PE 11

This is an online banking stock with coverage mainly in LA, USA. They do not have any physical bank location.
It is a good growth stock with relatively safe loan portfolio (based around US property)

It does not declare any dividends so suitable for only Growth investors.

I sold all my Dalata last week at €5.50. Looks like it was probably a bit early as it's only gone up since then but still happy with what I got!

It's a tough one to call, I think if a no deal Brexit is taken off the table once and for all over the next few weeks Dalata (results permitting) and some others could get a nice bump.

Is there one? I read somewhere yesterday that mortgage lending and property sales have gone off a cliff in the US in exactly the way that has predicted 9/10 of the last few recessions. Not much to get excited about on my watch list anyway.

    9% off s&p500 ATH.

Even some chinese stocks going well up, BABA up nearly 30% this month.

Then if China deal gets done the markets will rally.

I wouldn't be surprised if Trump does whatever he can to get the markets to rally going into the election....

Sick about dropping Facebook and a few others before Christmas, but it had been a dismal year and I needed a fresh start. Rally was predictable, but can't see it being sustained. There is still a lot of talk about property lending and the recession word is still being thrown around.

Could be a year before we see any more signs of a downturn but I'm not prepared to risk it in the short term.

Still holding 5 US stocks for now.

I've seen RGSE mentioned here a few times. It seems dependent on the US housing numbers which appear under pressure so I stayed away. Am i taking a very simplistic view?

History of reverse splits for a well established firm, most recent conference call says no future splits. California has a new solar mandate, worth googling it. They are manufacturing pretty much an identical product to Tesla, except they are already selling it. Earnings second week of March, might be worth a play heading up to that. Was .88 a few months ago after a random rally, so potential to make a few quid.
