Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A pity you said European, probably knows all about the African counterpart :D

Nice, do you have any footage you could share? I've seen reviews online, it seems to fly similarly to the mi drone, just not as stable in the air, but the footage looks decent. Any comments or experiences are appreciated!

I've only had it up a few times and shot in 2k 60fps , let me try get some footage the next time up.
It's my first drone (bar the SJRC F11 pro) and im impressed with how zippy it is and the photo quality etc.

My friend has the dji mavic zoom and he was pushing me towards that model but couldnt justify pulling the trigger so was very happy with the x8. Controller feels decent in hand and the drone is very responsive. Havent pushed out range or anything

Lads, I'm having issues with my sd card. Seems to be damage to the housing that holds it in the camera. No TF coming up when I start up the drone. So it's not reading the card. Card works fine in computer. Maybe my only option is a new camera?

You could get it repaired, but there's not many experts locally. Was it crashed?

The best option is to buy another complete drone, then sell the parts as the cam on its own is expensive..

    Controller around 50euro
    Battery around 75euro
    Charger around 25euro
Drone with no cam around 150euro.

So you could get most of the cash back.

Thanks Tedpan, no not crashed. I think it was damaged inserting the card in and out. Either way it wont read card now.

Minimal colour balancing done on it. Very close to original.

    DJI Mavic mini, thoughts..
Was waiting to pull the trigger on new Xiaomi drone but this might sway me. What do you folk think??

  • Registered Users Posts: 811 ✭✭✭Rock Paper Scissors

Just been looking at some reviews today on YouTube and they all seem to be very positive.

Think I'm gonna buy myself this as a Christmas present :)

It looks pretty impressive to be honest. 30 minute battery, 3 axis gimbal and ultra portable. I wonder how it will hold up in wind..

No idea on price yet, he paid 400 for it

Is there any indication that these might drop in price after Xmas? They're em...hovering around 450 at the moment, I'm looking to buy one but I'm hoping the price might drop.

Would I still need to pay customs tax on these if I chose the EU from this site?

They haven't moved in price in ages. Think the lowest I've ever seen it is 430euro when it released, 450 is decent for it's capabilities. Not sure about customs unfortunately, maybe someone else could advise?

No custom fees to pay when ordered from an EU Warehouse.

I have one for sale second hand, you can check thead and I bought for brother. He maybe used 5 times and it is sitting in box since

    If your interested

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,211 ✭✭✭✭Suckit

    It's on banggood for $499
    https://www.banggood.com/Xiaomi-FIMI-X8-SE-5KM-FPV-With-3-axis-Gimbal-4K-Camera-GPS-33mins-Flight-Time-RC-Drone-Quadcopter-RTF-p-1394905.html
Use code BGFIMIX8CN or BGFIMIX8ESPL and the drone should be discounted.

You can choose either EU Priority Line shipping or tick the Tariff Insurance box at checkout and you should avoid any fees also. But, if you do get asked, they will refund them.

Still have my one i got in early 2018 from this thread, only used it once since. I don't like the attention it draws, people kept asking me questions about it when i was flying it and im too much or an introvert lol. Not sure what I was thinking in buying it, although the quality is really good.
Have they not gone down in price then? Or are the ones on gearbest now newer models? If so what is the difference?

I'm wondering the same. From what I can see it looks like the X8 is the successor to the MI. It looks like it would be easier to transport as well.

It flies very similarly to the original, but as you say is much more portable. The camera is similar too and does a great job. For some reason it's not as popular as I thought it'd be.

I bit the bullet and ordered one today, looked at some reviews on youtube and they seem positive. I currently have a HS165 which was my first drone and was looking to upgrade to something with a better camera, this seems to fit the bill nicely at a very good price :)

As i think i said in this thread previously, i have the fimi x8 se and think its a great drone for the price.

Only thing i think is a bit meh is it allows you shoot photos in RAW but they have a blue tint to them which Xiaomi dont seem to be working a fix for

  • Registered Users Posts: 811 ✭✭✭Rock Paper Scissors

I'm torn between the mavic mini and the fimi x8 se

    Just can't decide

The only feature I would miss on the mavic mini is follow me.

The only thing putting me off the fimi x8 se is the blue tint on the footage which has been reported by manu users months ago and still hasn't been fixed.

    Decisions decisions

The xaiomi has follow mode too though (I think)?

I'm sure I seen it in one of the YouTube review videos.

Oops.... Yeah reread that there and see what he meant now.

I'm tempted to pull the trigger on the xaiomi now, but that hubson looks like a nice piece of kit too..... Never replaced my mavic pro which I sold on last December, and for some reason am really beginning to miss it.
