Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    why!?

I've definitely heard Creedon say this, but maybe there's something I'm missing here..?

I guess it's down to personal taste & you are correct Creedon does use the term also.
I feel that expressions like this are cliched & lazy & should be substituted in the interest of word economy plus language variety.
For the record I don't favour NEXT UP either.

Time to shift Collins in my opinion, hackneyed, dated, repetitive, dull.

Lookit, the show on the weekend, with the radio highlights is being presented, has a different presenter recently, much more entertaining, lively, interesting.

Not the same auld swampy stuff of the past.

Time to change things..... MOVE ON

Maybe it’s a sign of me growing older, but Ronan’s Show definitely appeals to the older generation-listen to the many requests for 50 year wedding anniversary celebrations. The high ratings reflect its popularity. He’s not my cup of tea, but if it ain’t broke... on the other hand, I’m beginning to think I have a greater range of music appreciation than the current stand-in. When I heard Neil on Saturday sounds, I thought to myself that I liked his playlist. Having listened to a few of his shows they are REALLY predictable.

Neil has mentioned "The Shires" the UK Country band already...as he always does in his shows.
Expecting him to play ABBA (or a song from Mamma Mia 2) this week...as he always does in his shows.

Limited music knowledge...research done on the internet or when researching for the Ray D'arcy show

He has one day left to play The Shires.

I very much agree, Collins is obsessed with whose death had an anniversary today and plays such out of date tripe. He never gets through a show without some error or other. Time to shift him.

And Playback is certainly much better since the change in presenter.

Yes, Playback, that’s the one, it’s like someone opened a window and blew a fresh wind through the whole tired kip.

The one presenting had a bit of ..what’s the word I’m looking for...bit of coquettishness about her, bit of a whiff of gun smoke , not afraid to ‘put out’.

We need more of that...not the dull jobsworths who could run a show in their sleep....and it shows....

Open the forking windows and let some fresh air in for forrrhks sake .

I heard playback on Saturday and was impressed with the presenter-thought she had a bit of craic about her

Since early in the year it only goes out on LW and R1extra at 1255pm

Why didnt they move that weather forecast to lw 15 years ago when most people still had lw sets ? 🙄

Why didnt they move that weather forecast to lw 15 years ago when most people still had lw sets ?

    Because that would make sense

You know the total opposite of moving it to LW in late Jan/early Feb when LW has only publicly 4 months left on air

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,608 ✭✭✭ford fiesta

they only stopped the weather on Ronan Collin's show on FM a few weeks back

    She has verbal diarrhea.

Off topic I know, but reminds me of an entry in the supervisor's handover book from many years ago....

"So-and-so rang in sick for this afternoon's shift - suffering with diarrhea, dioareahea, diaorear..... the sh!ts"

Classic (well, in my mind anyway)

    Sounds like Cathy Davey.

And her song sounds a lot like Elvis.

    Neil Doherty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,608 ✭✭✭ford fiesta

    Neil Doherty.

Why can't Radio 1 find better fill-in's hanging around RTE? ...maybe a few of the RTE Gold guys??

Did he play The Shires or Abba/Mamma Mia? :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,259 ✭✭✭✭Welsh Megaman

I think my radio is broken...

Ronan’s playing a song by Jimmy Buffett that’s not ‘Margaritaville’.

    :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,608 ✭✭✭ford fiesta

Is it just me hearing things or does Ronan sing along to himself at the end of a song (not in the way Ian Dempsey does), before he starts his next link?

I texted him about this once and he announced on air that no it wasn't him!!

I'm gonna get Ronan to play a request for all of you here, what would you like him to play?

2fm (where it's all chart/new music!!!) weekend presenter keith walsh filling in for Ronan today....totally unsuitable presenter in this slot.

who exactly chooses who will to stand in for the music presenters on radio 1?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,420 ✭✭✭✭sligojoek

    He's awful.

    'Music and mayhem', says he.

    Tubridy's ex-wife Anne Marie Power.

I always noticed that this Keith guy speaks as if he has a set of new dentures in....maybe this is why he is filling in on this slot for the older audience!! :D
He was terrible filling in on Risin' Time a few weeks back.

Total mis-match of stand in presenters...There are a load of other, more mature presenters on RTE's list for a show like Ronan's!!
Even a pre-record or basic live show from Larry Gogan would be much better

I think she's gone off to bigger and better-paid things and former head of 2fm John McMahon is music editor now.

Awful show today with Keith Walsh. Its an insult to Ronan Collins having this guy fill in for him.

Where's Lorcan 'keeping the seat warm" Murray these days.

Still mooching around the corridors I'd imagine.

Isn't Music Editor on Radio 1 Aiden Butler and John McMahon is a producer on the Late Late.
