Think I get it now...the auld hyphen were missing.

Pee... don’t listen to the lad anymore.... not able for the up-down up-down cadence.

    But....whatever floats yer boat.

Sorry for the confusion, glad you got the gist of it in the end.

To be honest I didn't know whether to go with "long-called for" or "long called-for".

In the end I decided to go with neither and hope it wouldn't cause too much stress.

Are you sure? What's on at 12.30, An Saol O Dheas? They could easily have fit that in. Very bad form altogether.

Are RnaG allowed to legally play english language songs now ? I know at one point they weren't

They've always played English-language music in the evenings, but yeah that might be the policy alright. A bit rigid of them if so.

Considering the tune is taken from Horslips’ ‘Dearg Doom’ which, in itself, based on the trad tune ‘O’Neill’s March’ it wouldn’t be much of an “exception” to make.

And Robbie's Somewhere Down the Crazy River moments afterwards.

Good selection today. A mark docked for calling the Pogues album Waiting ON Herb, but pretty solid otherwise.

That song really takes me back to the Summer of 1993.
Was at a time when I would tune into BBC Radio 1 on Medium wave or if I could on FM.
It was a fairly big hit for The Pogues, considering Shane was not part of the line up by then.

May as well have stuck the RTE Gold iPod into the spare line on the mixer and ask Dobbo to pull it down and press pause when he started the News at 1.

He must have left the CD lying round, Fiachna has just kicked off tonight’s show with it (sitting in for John Creedon)! :D

Maybe Michael swapped it for a copy of The Rose by Fiachna and Ronnie Drew.

I fear for today's musical selections so much that I may as well just turn on RTE Gold now and suffer that little bit earlier.

RTE Gold have a much more varied and interesting selection.

Remember Cahill is an RTE staff member, he no longer needs to impress with different/"I haven't heard that in a while" song selections.

In terms of RTE staff presenters (by the way cost cutting should be a priority for RTE on all music programmes, rather than Una Healy or some other musician or celebrity) - Will Leahy would be a better choice to cover for Ronan.

That clown Cahill has been sucking on the sugar tit of the licence fee for a quarter of a century, despite the lack of purpose for him to be in RTE

If cost saving is a priority then getting a salaried staff to step in is economically sensible as he's already onsite. But yeah, he's certainly lazy and WhatsApp it in much less than he rings it in. Disagree about Will Leahy though; he's far too busy trying to do impressions of Tony Fenton or Philip Cawley when on air, and badly too. In any case he has a full time job to be able to slot in.
