Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can't believe a pro the calibre of Anthony McGill could play two basic pots and leave them short of the pocket, as he's done today. Shocking, really.

Higgins misses a simple green on other table, gifting match to Zhou. Higgins not at races at all today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Actually turning out to be a not bad tournament for the chinese. If Xiao beats lisowski tomorrow, which is eminently possible, they'd be guaranteed two semi finalists which is fair going considering the big guns like Ding and Yan departed early.

Couldn't believe that Green. Zhou was wobbling I thought if Higgins won that frame Zhou could fold.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Yeah, heard ken afterwards, incredulous the way higgins played it, rolling it instead of stunning. Shouldn't have missed it anyway but that made it a bit more missable. Zhou played well but i thought he might wobble too. At 1-4 higgins had got the snooker he needed on the blue only then to stick the pink up over corner pocket. It was just that type of match.

Haven't seen that Bulgarian referee Proletina the last while - maybe she's retired...

Selby v Hawkins should be good one. Plus could last as long as a first to 10 :D

A good interview with Rachel earlier on with Mark and Barry. 9-8 to the jester in the head to head. First we're seeing of Hawkins, and aside from the first frame he's not done a lot wrong. Needs a run to get back into top 16.

Most of Selby's recent shots been poor

He had no luck there Mark cannoning other red, but a great pink.

Fairly tense the last half an hour of this match. Hawkins not out of it. If he could get this frame he’s back in the match at 5-4. Problem in this frame is the balls are awkward and Selby has a small lead, he’s definitely second favourite.

    Poor showing from Hawkins.

Selby be in his element here; the way the balls are, and with his massive lead.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,193 ✭✭✭waynescales1

Hawkins has to be about 18/1 to win from here.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,193 ✭✭✭waynescales1

    Selby v Robertson Friday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Ricky losing a frame he should have bagged 15 minutes previously, early days but doesn't bode well.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,193 ✭✭✭waynescales1

4-0 to 4-2, is the come back on? Probably too little too late from Waldo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Started to take his chances anyway, kind of typical once match had got away from him. Be interesting if he did get back to one or even level.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Really strange match. Judd thunders in a screaming red only then to miss a pretty easy brown. Ricky still just about in it.

Poor safety shot on red - looks like curtains now for Ricky.

It was scrappy, not his most fluent. Ricky made it respectable but not sure he turned up fully believing he could compete. Too tentative when he had chances early on.

Don't like Wilson but he has potted some great balls tonight.

I'll find it very hard to choose what to watch between Selby vs Robertson and Trump vs Wilson tomorrow night.

Selby v Robertson is on in the afternoon

Trump is on in the evening

Good luck with that. It's the same tournament every week in the same place with the players subject to the same covid mania restrictions. Hard to get any enthusiasm from me or from them.

Can't believe Selby played that plant. It was no more obvious than your average pack.

Was a poor shot from Selby to canon black and lose position. Would have been 3-3 even though he's been well outplayed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

90% long pot success, doesn't really get any better than this. Only surprise is robbo hasn't already wrapped this match up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Zhou on the wobble again. Should have been done 6-2, instead lisowski a chance to force a decider.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Zhou gets it done with the assistance of some calamitous safety from lisowski. Like Jack but all round game doesn't seem to be developing and doubting it will anytime soon on this evidence.

Looked him up there he is 29 and never won anything at all. 10 years a pro ranked 16 now - highest 11 last year.

All three ranking finals he lost, he lost well.

Yeah, it's funny cos he played and practised mostly with Judd and Judd took the big step up and he didn't. Has some serious health issues which probably set him back a couple of years to be fair to him, but needs to win something, even a minor tournament and step up to next level. Pre match interview on bbc today was very instructive, was very open and honest about the doubts he has about himself. A good coach wouldn't go amiss for a start!

Whatever happens tonight; that was farkin awesome snooker from Kyren Wilson last night - He literally (well almost) just DID NOT MISS - notwithstanding the odd average positional shot. Never seen anything like it. He's gone way up in my estimation as a player. Don't think he missed a shot with the rest either; out of about 10 or so that I saw.

    Hope he beats Trump tonight...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Met 6 times in 2020 and it's 3-3, Kyren winning the biggest one of the lot. Has no fear of Judd anyway.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,906 ✭✭✭✭Rothko

Trump continuing his fantastic form so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Not much kyren can do about this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

3-0 to judd while the two boys on the other table are still only on the colours in the first.

Crazy indeed. A different game from his last one.

He seems to have changed how he walks into the shot, still rather mechanical but not the complete robot he was until recently. All he needs now is to permanently wear a face mask so we don't see his face and have his interviews muted and he'll be a star.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Immense frame of snooker that. Pattern very similar to selby-robbo match, one player dominating but still close on the scoreboard.

What are your views on Dale as a commentator?

I’ve been surprised that he’s grows on me. He doesn’t have a buttery voice but his patter is good and good at explaining his technical knowledge

They don't call Wilson "The Warrior" for nothing.

Is he commentating for Eurosport? Listening to Taylor and McManus here. Any lad that's still playing the game is okay.

Very good comeback by Wilson to equalise at 3-3.

I think he's excellent. His enthusiasm for the game comes across, and he reads the game really well.

Dom is fine as most of them are. Quite like Peter Lines when he's on too.

Yes. He’s on Eurosport. Seems to be the resident commentator at the moment. He’s always on one of the games. Not like bbc where they used to change the commentary team every mid session.
