No sign of mine yet either. Have it frozen in the app. apart from when I'm actually using it. Will give it until the end of the week and contact them then.

Be careful Paypal doesn't convert for you, they can be sneaky like that so it's easy to miss.

I still haven't seen the code on revolut, actually, I think there might be an issue as when I click the "statement" button on any of the transactions, nothing happens, but the other two buttons work, is this the same for anyone else?

It doesn't seem like the advice on that link is relevant anymore since PayPal has updated, I can't find them options so am left with having to just pay in EUR and let PayPal do the conversion, so I don't think using Revolut will be any advantage in that case

I think you get the code from the bank statement of the card you topped up with. It's nearly two years since I signed up though so I could be wrong.

Thanks for the input, but this was related to verifying the Revolut card on PayPal, not verifying a card I'm adding to revolut

Seems there may not be much point putting the Revolut card on paypal though as my post above, there doesn't seem to be a way to not get PayPal to do the currency conversion?!

The only way to do this I think is to set up a separate PayPal UK account and add your Revolut card to that. I added my Revolut card to an existing PayPal UK account I had and it's working fine, even though the addresses obviously don't match up.

When I use PayPal on mobile, it has a blue link saying conversion options under the figure. Clicking that let's me change from PayPal conversion to allowing card issuer to handle it. It may be different on a computer.

As I've been trying this with sending money to a friend, I was thinking maybe the option only appears when making a purchase from a store that offers paypal, but I just tested with a UK store with paypal option to pay and still the same, no options to choose conversion method!

I've recently made a few payments through paypal in different currencies and it always went through to Revolut in the seller's currency, maybe the option is moved to checkout now?

Yeah, that should still be possible for making purchases through Paypal but for loading your PayPal wallet to send money to another person, I don't think it was ever possible?

I got as far as the "PAY NOW" stage, but didn't click that, but there was no option to change currency conversion option along the way!

However... in the mean time, I noticed an option when sending money that you can actually change the currency you send it with paypal, so I tried send the amount and it seemed to only take about 200 off the account, instead of €208...

I don't think this option would be possible when doing an online store checkout though!

wasnt there an option on paypal to have multiple currency accounts ? as if i go into my pp account it has option to manage currencies.

Am i correct to assume if i have gbp on revolut card and buying trough pp in pound it wouldn't go trough ? as mentioned above.

That said what about sites such as amazon will it take gbp out of account or will it try to convert euro if selected to pay in pounds <this might be asked before but input appreciated.

That option no longer exists as far as I can make out. When I navigate to www.paypal.com/myaccount/settings/payments the only options I see are 'automatic payments' and 'your preferred way to pay' and there's no 'conversion options' in there anywhere.

Each time you make a foreign-currency purchase though, the option to pay in the seller's currency should be offered as part of the checkout process as it's a legal requirement.

Amazon, by default, will try to do the currency conversion for you too unless you have it turned off in your account.

I sent the £180 to the person I'm getting something from, I went to sent money and initially I was just putting in what they would receive (£180) and it was showing €208 EUR in the "what it would be sending on the left", then I realised you can change that to also be GBP, so it was then showing:

You will send £180, Person will receive £180.

Then it's showing up as the attached image in my revolut account.

It's there they've it buried though. You'd never find it, one of the best examples of a setting being hidden, probably deliberately

Ah I see you were just checking out what PayPal's exchange rate was basically.

From the screenshot your Revolut was charged in Sterling anyway so you figured it out!

I use the bank rate, but it means I end up being charged a currency exchange from BOI on top of the transaction. Will be loading my revolution from now on for all those purchases!

I had to look at that page 3 times before I saw the Set available funding sources link, they really don't want to encourage you to buy in the seller's currency.

Use it regularly in northern ireland.

I've only taken money out once and was definitely charged the 12c. Don't take out money often as I use the card to pay for things.

The 12c stamp duty only applies when using ATMs in the Republic of Ireland.
