Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Really? show me? Show me exactly what you are talking about. Exactly.

The exact post where I dump a video without context. The exact post count that has a video in it. Exact. I say. Exact. Show me. I want to see it. Can you?

Can’t you tell me how politic forum is held to a higher level when there is a multi thousand trump bashing thread? Show me this higher standard. Exactly. Show me the exact high standard you are talking about. Show me how a multi thousand post on bashing trump is a higher standard?

Just be honest. Your hypocrisy is palpable.

How in the ever loving name of god there is a trump bashing thread in The politics forum that is up to number 6. So thousands and thousands of trump bashing posts. And all his hunky dory.

I post a satirical. Video in the aoc thread on ac about aoc, in response to a posters question and it gets censored.

With you know I don’t even have to say it…

    YouTube dump. Lol.

I mean you guys don’t even try to hide your bias.

Trump putting journalists lives at risk. Lol. Because of a dispute that started in 2012? Lol.

But in fairness M you're holding other people's posts to a much higher standard than you're holding your own. To be fair it's not just you.

Previously when people post from reputable news sources, no matter what they are there's a cohort of "fake news" people who claim that the source is biased against Trump ect so they won't debate the post.

Then they post a video edited to death from a random internet source and claim bias that we don't accept that.

My videos are mostly African Americans shining a light on the racism bs. Some political satire videos, and Fox News. Your hardly guns see me post cnn, now.

And I have repeatedly said that there is no longer any unbiased news media. That’s why I post videos from African Americans. They sure won’t sweep racism under the rug.

I’ve never reported anything I have disagreed on. I always post with facts and a spotlight on the Democrats hypocrisy.

When you start censoring in the guise of a video dump especially a political satire one. And leave a multi thousand trump bashing thread alone. Well that’s just hypocrisy.

You are welcome to discuss topics, but you have bee warned not just to dump video links. I really do not care what your politics are, or what you want to discuss within the parameters of the forum and site. Thinking you can dump links rather than actually offer your opinion is not acceptable, and will not be acceptable whatever your political or other leanings. When was the last time that you reported anything, MM?

In my 10 years on boards I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve reported anything. I’m an adult. If I see a video I see it because I want to. Not because it’s in a post. If I don’t want to see it. I ignore it. If someone insults me I laugh at them. I don’t run off all hurt about it.

The videos are either political satire or fact based. Just the last post that got censored was a reply to a poster saying they can’t find any more funny videos about aoc. I posted that her work is out there and then the video. If that’s a dump. Then mother forgive me.

Oh and to answer your question exactly.

The last time was the other day. After a poster insulted me and my wife for the second time. You can read about it a few pages up on this thread. They undulated me the first time. I posted a video of a guy laughing. (I think that got delete probably because they credited it) then he did it again. This time I replied with haha in big red letters. That’s when I got a warning to not post in such a low standard. So I reported the insulting post. Which had zero effect. As they never got a warning.

I’m not going to waist the mods time reporting such asinine posts when a simple reply showing all the dignity a post like that deserves. It’s just showing bias that my post got moded but they keep on insulting.

I'm not up to speed with your posts MM however
To be fair- there does seem to be a genuine issue of reporting something (because someone is being a dick etc) - nothing gets done - respond to what was posted and get infracted.

In effect the person at the receiving end gets shat on twice.

That system as it is frequently leaves the troll or whatever free to go on being a dick ...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

Id have to disagree gozunda. I rely on the reports to help me mod. I dont think it would be possible to mod the fora i do without them.

As such, if someone reports someone being uncivil or breaking rules, its more likely to get actioned if reported.

If anyone responds to something they think is breaking the rules, they are leaving themselves open because a) the mods cant stop any further trolling in response to the response (if that makes sense) and b) if tempers flare, both parties will probably end up getting infracted.

Just my 2c on it though!

That's why I think it would help if there was a way for the reporter to know that the report has been seen by a moderator.

The big problem seems to be the sheer volume in the busy fora. Maybe a pop up page explaining the valid reasons for reporting so that people check the validity before they post. Especially as the rules vary between fora.

Sometimes a mod will see something in a thread without having even seen the reported post and action.
There are holes in all systems.
I think it's a matter of trusting that once you've reported something, it's been seen and there has or has not been action taken.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

Personally i would be against having things that might restrict or deter people from reporting, even if it means some of the reports are inaccurate or inappropriate.

I understand what you are saying though, Discodog.

I go through reports at least twice a day. Its usually a lot more than that. If something is not actionable, it doesn't get actioned. If it does, people can see the action. Its kinda of built in. I guess what you are asking is to see that the posts that dont get actioned, have been reviewed? I dont know if thats technically possible.

I do know the mod teams i am on are good ones though (imo). We make sure things are covered off in terms of the reports.

Btw I dont disagree with the importance of reported posts - just there are occasions when this system doesn't seems to work and results in the same ****e reaccuring again and again

As in the example previously report something - no infraction because its marked as a 'first' offence or whatever with no action taken - and whoever responds to it or more of the same then gets infracted. As I've said a double bind. Unfortunately this does happen imo and is similar to what MM was describing.

I think Boards is a little conflicted. You want people to report posts but then you can get inundated on certain fora. In your experience what percentage are actionable & are any reported out of malice ?

People post facts with the appropriate sources. Yourself and others respond with videos, failing to summarise them or respond to a point a poster has made. No one's censoring you, just pointing out that the videos are out of context with a discussion.

    Bull****.

It’s censorship pure and simple. The admins are at it. Let’s face it. Boards has become a leftist haven.

That’s fine. Boards isn’t a democracy. The people that run boards have their agenda and make sure it’s follow. It’s their prerogative.

But don’t hide behind bull**** and hypocrisy. Own it. Otherwise it just looks like they are ashamed.

Anyway, you are welcome to discuss matters Just stop posting the videos though

Why are posting it out of context?

    https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=110822073&postcount=479

Because it conveys exactly my earlier position that was quoted and refuted. I gave irrefutable evidence. Can’t get more irrefutable than that video. Now can you. There is now desire for discussion. There is just a desire to prove what I’m saying is false. I use the videos as irrefutable evidence. Notice they don’t continue the discussion after that just report my video. Censoring me because they can’t show my position is wrong.

Did you read my initial post? Because I clearly spelt out in my initial post that Harris is now going on as if she is African American. When she first was sworn into congress she identified as Indian America. It even said it under her name.

The video explained it perfectly. I wouldn’t have posted the video,if,it didn’t show my initial position.

Because your context doesn't make it any clearer what you are trying to say. Do you think it proves Kamala Harris isn't black? The video just gives lots of opinions on it. The guy in the video seems to be making the point that Trump Jnr isn't racist because other people discuss her blackness. Was that your point? Because that doesn't really fit in with the context you just posted. Surely you see how a video alone can not convey a point without some direction from the poster.

Does the user do so on a constant basis? If a person does something regularly that's a bigger issue and you have posted multiple of videos in single posts. Capaill doesn't have a long history of doing so and it's one in a blue moon when they post videos.

    From the Charter:

It would be greatly appreciated if posters did not quote images or videos when replying to other posters.

This would greatly help the poor hamsters as well as avoiding unnecessary repetition of an image or video across posts.

Mods reserve the right to edit posts to removed quoted videos or pictures.

So no, not a hard & fast rule, but really quoting should be unnecessary when posters can simply delete from the quote and anyone reading the follow-up post can then click on the link to the quoted post. Otherwise thread get clogged up with multiple copies of the same image or video

You don't get the concept of signal to noise then. So let me be clear.
    1. You constantly post youtube video after youtube video (quote often multiple per post) in lieu of actual discussion.
    2. The forum mods (myself included) have asked you repeatedly to cut it out. Nobody's stifled your point of view, you're not one of the oppressed, so don't worry.
    3. You insist instead of arguing some spurious argument that you are "conversing', it's your right to post as you please, blah blah blah.

So let's keep it simple. You're welcome to post on CA/IMHO on whatever topic you please, within the bounds of the charter. If you post any more youtube dumps, I'm going to continue snipping them from your posts, or one of the mods will get tired of it and card you. If you continue to engage in whataboutery and muppetry here in feedback, I'll remove your access to it until you learn how to use it properly. It's not feedback, the 'mai right to youtube' rhetoric is getting tiring, and I'm not wasting anybody else's time on it.

    So explain something to me.

How is this person yellow carded for posting a famous quote

    https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=110832799&postcount=1315

And this person then quoting it and insulting them left to without a warning?

It's for a user to dispute their card if they wish. We will not be going into details here as at this stage as it could be prejudicial to any appeal
