Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Some heavier stuff enroute by the looks of it.
Roads will be dodge in the morning, thankfully I'm off work. OH has her driving test though, that should be fun!

Yep - heavy snow now & sticking :)
Best of luck to your OH tomorrow - if it's the city test routes the gritters are out in force so it'll be grand.

Met Éireann snow warnings for Knock and Shannon.

Knock EIKN AD WRNG 02 VALID 210100/211400 SNOW FBL 1 TO 3CM FCST =

Shannon EINN AD WRNG 02 VALID 210000/211000 SNOW FBL 1 TO 3CM FCST =

My TAF decoding abilities are limited so I had to look up "FBL".

It stands for "faible" which is the French word for "feeble".

    I found that amusing.

Temperature now 2.9c here in West Clare, dew -0.5 and no precip.

If the Net Weather radar is to be believed then there should be large amounts of snow around the country at the moment.

Thanks, heavy and sticking here but the wind is playing havoc again, blowing it every which way but down.
Actually the first time I have heard a snow shower approach with the sudden increase in wind.

car, roofs and grass are now white here from snow, north east of Kilkenny City.
Only a dusting, but it looks like it will accumulate over night.

First light dusting of snow in Castlebar, sticking but the shower did not last long, dp - 0.7C.

Wow! What a shower of hail!! Castlebar

Battered and bruised by gales and squally gusts but not a snowscene in sight at the front, and still too dark and dreadful to venture round the side of the cottage. I think there was a flake or two in the air as I forced the door closed against the rush of air ..

"On such a night as this..." Getting too old for this, I really am.

A faint, slight dusting atop the mountains here, mostly to the north. Bitter icy wind and those odd navy blue clouds scudding in from the south .

Incredibly lovely out there when viewed from the window.. Scattering of snow in bright sun, fragile wisps of cloud climbing the steep slopes, sky a pattern of blue, cloud, sun, shadow.

I thought I imagined that - knew I saw a flash out the corner of my eye. Heard a rumble but it was the same time as a feckin bin truck passed.

    Turning white out there now

Great pics.....radar returns are showing that area of precip to be rather large and very heavy in places. You seem to be doing well. Do you know what height above sea level you are at?

Around 85/90M ASL I think. Still going here, longest snow shower I can remember in a long time

snowed this morning in Sligo for our usual 1 hour morning Winter/Spring fall.

Still snow possible anywhere in next 2 or 3 days though less likely in West than East

The East Coast could get snowfall tonight especially Wicklow

I dunno how to put pics on here. Why cant you just share like other sites.

Anyways my one pic is on my site http://weathergossip.blogspot.com

Others have me kids in them so I left them out

Exact same elevation as me so that means there is still hope. How's it looking now?

The precip is arriving in Mullingar now so will be interesting to hear back what's falling (and hopefully sticking) there.

Intermittent heavy snow showers here in Letterkenny for the last hour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 228 ✭✭blast06

That big blob over the midlands on the rainfall radar is snow. Ground white in Athlone. Meath and Louth should get an hours worth from it

It's still going but much lighter now, sky starting to brighten up also so think that's the end of it for now. It's starting to melt already from the road but still on the grass. Ah well, was nice while it lasted, hopefully we'll get a bit more later
