I thought I imagined that - knew I saw a flash out the corner of my eye. Heard a rumble but it was the same time as a feckin bin truck passed.

    Turning white out there now

It was right overhead when I was looking out the window.

In Craughwell now, proper big flakes

It's started back up again - nice big flakes falling again.

    Thunderhail in Loughrea!!!

I knew it! some frightening looking black clouds down towards your way earlier this morning when I was out on a tea break which gave a peculiarly dark hue for much of the morning here, yet not a drop of rain fell here locally.

    New Moon

Midlands have had lying snow too, as far east as east Kildare, if not West Dublin

Currently snowing in South Donegal. Street white for a while. Sun back out now and quickly melting again as snow fades.

Loughrea, Before it got really heavy.

There should be a warning for Leinster tonight just inland from coastal counties for heavy snowfall.

Knife edge between snowfest and messy mix.

There should be a warning for Leinster tonight just inland from coastal counties for heavy snowfall.

Knife edge between snowfest and messy mix.

Looking like the Wicklow mountains will get pasted, but with rain/sleet/wet snow at low levels.

HIRLAM showing up to 25cm on the mountains by midnight tomorrow.

ARPEGE showing similar, but lower amounts.

Some more interest now for tomorrow morning.

Inland East Leinster according to the Arpege will have snow accumulations.

The Hirlam however shows accumulations of snow for the same areas tomorrow evening.

Both models showing significant accumulations of 10cm+ for Wicklow Hills and Mountains

Some pretty mammatus clouds passing by.
Well that's ticked all of my weather boxes in one day.
Epic hail showers, thunder hail, lying snow, and now mammatus clouds. I picked a good day to be off work!

3.4c (Dewpoint 1.6c) here in West Clare and rain with a sleety element.

If only it was a bit colder!

    STATUS YELLOW

    Snow-ice Warning for Ireland
Cold overnight, with temperatures below freezing and down to -3 C., with some scattered wintry showers and a few patches of freezing fog.
But later tonight, a band of rain and sleet will develop over Leinster and will fall as snow in places. Some snow will extend into parts of north and east Munster around dawn also. 1 -3 cm of snow are likely locally, with larger amounts on high ground. But in some eastern and southeastern coastal districts, with onshore breezes, the precipitation is likely to stay as rain or sleet.
