I would think there's a good chance of a decent covering in roundwood - hard to know lower down, will likely depend on how much of an onshore breeze develops. Further inland in the east I'd expect snow to low levels.

'Widespread sharp frost' on the Met Eireann forecast but total cloud cover here and cloud/drizzle everywhere on the 6pm reports. Joke of a forecast.

Snowing constantly for the past two hours at Knock. Anyone in that part of Mayo? It must be covered in snow!

Not bad, if at all. Should be mostly rain/sleet.

A rain and sleet mix for Dublin. Further inland, Meath, Kildare, West Wicklow should see snow

Id say a 250/300m snow line in Wicklow / South Dublin mtns will be the order of the day, probably some mixed showers to reduce visibility in rush hour, but unlikely to be any lying snow on the arterial routes into Dublin. Not that that wont stop an apocalyptic panic. My advice, leave earlier for work, be grand.

Currently 2.5c here in West Clare with a dewpoint of 1.6c, precipitation agonisingly close, hopefully the temperature continues to drop and the precipitation moves in.

Cork airport now reporting sleet and 2c, Shannon now reporting rain and 2c, Knock reporting snow and 1c.

    Temperature here 2.4c.

And what you estimate the snow line will be at a bit further inland, beyond the Liffey or a bit further inland again?

Theres not a whole lot of high ground above 300m outside the Liffey, north of the Wicklow mtns, but local overnight temps and dew points could see lower snow in sheltered spots. Id expect the early dawn to offset any problems on the main roads

Looks like a fair bit of precipitation this evening into tomorrow ( more so in the E and SE ) with that low stalled in the Irish sea. Going through all the major models and not seeing the low temperatures as forecast by Met Eireann? Possibly due to the cloud cover. 850hpa Temps -5C to -7C so plenty of snow on high ground / mountains it would seem. If the cloud cleared you would expect a sharp frost in places under clear skies but doesn't seem to be widespread IMO. Wicklow Mountains look to get a right pasting.

Looking very windy in some Eastern counties tomorrow morning and windy across the country later. Mostly wet precipitation, any snow would make it Blizzard like perhaps although not sticking for long I would think. Be careful on the Wicklow mountains if tempted to go hiking, looks like it is going to be fairly treacherous up there in those winds and heavy snow. Would expect a yellow wind warning for tomorrow.

Light rain here in Waterford City. Temp 4.8c. Can't really see any snow falling here, maybe sleet for a time.

The stream on my site may be worth a look later

Temps will drop a few degrees in the next few hours, will still be borderline at low levels though.
