Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Lads, Little help here.

I didn't even know I had an account with it, Never use the email account for anything & for some reason I signed up when the original thing went around.

I went to log in & Safari had luckily saved my password.

According to the account details I have: 1100.999975 STR

So... What does this mean exactly? According to Hulacoins.com, it's worth €410.34 - is this right?

It's saying I need to upgrade - How?

I have a coinbase account, can I get this transferred into it?

If it worth sitting on it?

A nice read here from a blog post on the Stellar website https://www.stellar.org/blog/Q1-2018-stellar-and-state-of-crypto/

And also an interesting Stellar related tweet from the co-founder of Reddit https://twitter.com/alexisohanian/status/955531298902228992

They do say the price by the end of 2018 could range between .75c and $20. They are really leaving some wriggle room for themselves with that prediction :D

I'd wet my pants if it went to $5. I'd require urgent medical attention if it went to $10.

I believe they will be going to 1000 euro. You probably bought a few thousand at a penny. How's your heart?

Is that a prediction you're making about lumens or euros value

    Euros.

    MIT review.
    Real time transactions (2-5 seconds)
    Regulatory compliance
    Automatic currency exchange
International reach with a single integration
    Cryptographically secure transactions
Payments that move with the smoothness and speed of email
Low fee for micro-transactions ($0.01 handles about 600,000 transactions)
With its Swiss Army Knife-like versatility Stellar has the potential to revamp peer-to-peer transactions on a global scale.

With IBM, KlickEx, Deloitte, Parkway Projects, and Tempo using Stellar for real-world adoption, Stellar lumens’ potential is finally being tapped into. And with everything going according to plan to make Stellar the future of currency exchange, things sure looks bright for the layman’s Ripple.

That would give it an 22 trillion dollar market cap

Stripe (who back Stellar) will remove support for Bitcoin payments. hence the price increase today.

Stellar is an actual technology, that people will actually use. Most other technologies are nothing more than hype.

I posted an article from Stripe on that in the alt coin thread yesterday. Interesting read.

XLM just overtaken Litecoin to go to #6 on cmc.

Is it a case of either or for Ripple and XLM or can they both co-exist ?

This is something I would be interested if anyone could weigh in on, whichever project you really look at they are all saying they will be better than the competitors, so its hard to find an unbiased opinion.

I keep a (relatively) small investment in both! Hoping the gains of one will offset any losses from the other.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 882 ✭✭✭moneymad

Xlm and ripple are both able to exist along side each other.
Money will pour into both in the coming years.
Visa have a blockchain which will compete with both. There's plenty of competition.
Ask yourself would you use xlm yourself? I would.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,649 ✭✭✭Whelo79

Why would people think they can't both work at the same time? They are similar but have their own working differences and long terms goals.

Think of all the different banks that exist worldwide. All the different methods there are to currently transfer money around the globe and the people and institutes who would want to transfer money.

Ripple is more aimed at the banking sector and Stellar is aiming for companies and public adoption.

There are also the differences between being centralized and decentralized and for profit (ripple currently hold 60% of all RPX in existence) while Stellar are non profit and their excess supply of XLM are controlled by the Stellar Development Foundation which has no stock or profits passed out to individual investors.

There is absolutely no onus on any financial institute to use XRP as part of an implementation of Ripple xCurrent technology. In fact I’m genuinely struggling to see why they would do so, unless they needed access to some sort of ‘digital liquidity’ bound to FIAT. Even then they’d just launch their own version private ledger version of the coin to support such a transfer. The coin is being mixed up with the ripple block chain implementation

Yea, I've noticed XLM always seemed to ride on the coat tails of XRP (up and down together) but recent weeks not so much which is good news for XLM and investors see it on its own merits.

There's a 15BTC buy order sitting on Bittrex at 5123Sat's. That's gonna keep things afloat nicely for a while!

Edit: And just as I say that it got pulled, as did an 8BTC buy order at 5090 Sats.

Don't think so, I've always used SEPA going into Kraken. Credit cards are a very expensive way of buying crypto.

It wasn't heavy on the technical side but there was some very interesting info. SDEX and Lightning being the two biggest pieces of news.

I like how the operate, no fan fair, no hype. Just getting on with the work in the background. 37 partnerships signed up in 2017, that's pretty amazing too. A LOT to come from this company in 2018.

I usually keep a bit of ETH on Binance for such dips, but I used it all up on that buy-in this morning.

It seems to be holding up slightly against the onslaught to bitcoin from the butcher

    Was grand.
Made enough in under 2 hours to buy a further 300 XLM at $0.36. Up to $0.42 now so I'm €150 better off than if I held.

Actually, tbh the only reason I sold the EOS and bought XLM at that time was coz I was leaving work to drive down the country for the weekend so I'd have no chance to sell while driving. Probably could have made a few more quid but sure it worked out grand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,819 ✭✭✭howamidifferent

Likewise I traded some xlm for btc yesterday and switched back to xlm today for a gain of 700 extra xlm. Nice.
