Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm trying to get sky go working as I'm currently abroad and it's not playing ball. Is the subnet mask etc standard numbers?

On your dashboard you should be able to "force ip address update"

I did an IP update and it's seeing my external IP.

I need to have the UK IP for Amazon movies as they are geolocked.
I put it in the static DNS field as primary and secondary DNS.

    What am i doing wrong?

Put Irish address in primary and if you wish put UK one in secondary. Also in getflix app or dashboard set Amazon region to UK.

Ok guys...its sorted. Once I got beyond the block(pardon the pun) that it needed to be a UK server to show amazon uk:)

I set the DNS to the Irish IP did a reboot on the server and updated my IP...I'm now watching Emmerdale.......after checking that Amazon worked:D

Has anyone got this to work for Netflix? I get all the US content, but also the proxy error when I try to play. Has anyone got a workaround for this? PM please, if this isn't allowed on Boards!

Got a Fire TV box. Fantastic compared an old android I had. One thing though, BBC iplayer and ITV hub app are not available to me (even though using getflix) on Fire Tv so side loaded them . BBC Iplayer seems fine but ITV hub has a strange vertical aspect when the app is launched even though i can stream from it fine. Netflix is hit and miss getting a lot of geoblocking. Also the Fire remote isn't great, so am using a mouse. Anyone else have these issues with a AFTv box?

Also using a firetvv box and Netflix is temperamental. Works fine most of the time but will stop mid stream on a whim and give the geolockng error.

No. Is your address on Amazon account a UK or rep of Ireland address. You need UK based account for UK apps to appear.

These are the instructions that I used to get the UK apps on my FireTV. Quite old, but worth a shot.

I missed the $29 offer, but even at $39 seems like a good deal. Still on the trial period and I managed to get the settings right in the LAN (BBC works) but when I try to enter the DNS server on the Technicolor router, it's asking me the IPv6 DNS Server and I can only find the IPv4 on the Getflix pages. Any idea on how I can set this right?

    From Getflix Support

    Does Getflix support IPv6?

    Avatar Getflix Support

The short answer is: No, so if you use IPv6 you will need to disable and IPv6 DNS servers or disable IPv6 completely.

The long answer is: Our software is IPv6 ready, however, our most of our hosting providers currently do not support native IPv6 addresses right through to our servers. Once they do, we will enable IPv6 support and publish the details of the IPv6 DNS servers on our website.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 678 ✭✭✭m4r10

Thanks for that. I thought there's a work around this but can't find it ATM. Tried to convert the IPv4 to 6 but still not recognisable by the router and I can't find a way to disable IPv6. Guess I'll stick with the LAN settings for the time being.

2 weeks free trial and I'd say it works with US sites, only tried the BBC iPlayer which works for me.

Getflix need to know your current external IP address. If this is not static either use getflix app from app store or dydns service to keep your IP undated. I use no-ip with no problems.

I'm not too up on these things, but 30 odd quid for 'lifetime' dns service is gonna be hard to top..

I'll have to leave it to someone else about the Now TV box, but I didn't think geoblocking was an issue with them once you buy a pass?

If I remember correctly there is an issue with hard coded dns settings on these boxes. You have to set up static routes in your router to circumvent.

It stopped working for me and didn't come back...

Oddly enough trials often stop working after a period.

Ha ha :) no it went four days before the trial was up. I was using it for netflix and it said " You are using a proxy.. Stoppit" or something to that effect.

I tried using IPlayer and the first time it asked me if I had a licence- it didnt ask for a number - just to tick a box to say I had one.

I believe new EU laws this year are supposed to stop BBC from blocking within the EU. We might get one year unblocked until Brexit?

That doesnt seem definite. It already asks if you have a license which only changed recently as far as Im aware.

Anyway the point still stands, If you can get a few months of this DNS service working then its definitely worth it.

I'd be far happier paying the BBC for a licence than RTE, if I had a choice..

Quick tech support question... hope somebody can help:
I'm trying to change the DNS at the router level (Virgin's Horizon Box) rather than on the device itself. Has anybody had any success in doing this? Am I doing it wrong?
I go into the modem's web interface, them the Basic tab, and Local area network menu... change the DNS with the ones provided by getflix, save. restart the box but when i check on the getflix account page it says that the dns is not enables and sure enough the streaming service i'm trying to access doesnt work.
    thanks

Google setting up a static route to Googles public DNS if it's possible on the box. It might help.

Did anyone manage to set the DNS on a Virgin Media Hub?

    "Virgin Media Hub 3.0 device"

In about I can see the DNS - but I cannot find anywhere it can be manually set? There is no option in admin pages, no wan page and nowhere in the DHCP I can set it - thanks.

I wouldn't be surprised if Virgin blocked the facility to set up a DNS server on your device. I can't set up Getflix on my Virgin supplied router as the only option is for a IPv6 DNS server and Getflix don't offer it ATM.

I found this thread - it shows how to access some hidden options to change the IP address - I'm currently trying work out if its possible to change other settings using this method.

    http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/QuickStart-set-up-and/Superhub-3-internal-network-address/td-p/3019907/page/5

I want to change the DNS.. **WITHOUT having another router/wifi box** - as I dont want to opt out of the Horizon Free Wifi service or have yet another box of blinking lights.

    So... from that long thread...

Assuming your router is currently still at 192.168.0.1, and you want to change it to 192.168.1.1, the URLs you need are:
    http://192.168.0.1/snmpSet?oid=1.3.6.1.4.1.4115.1.20.1.1.2.2.1.5.200=%24c0a80101;4;&_n=0
    http://192.168.0.1/snmpSet?oid=1.3.6.1.4.1.4115.1.20.1.1.2.2.1.11.200=%24C0A8010A;4;&_n=0
    http://192.168.0.1/snmpSet?oid=1.3.6.1.4.1.4115.1.20.1.1.2.2.1.13.200=%24c0a801fe;4;&_n=0
    http://192.168.0.1/snmpSet?oid=1.3.6.1.4.1.4115.1.20.1.1.9.0=1;2;&_n=0

But you need to change n=0 to a valid value for n which you get by monitoring the web traffic from your browser to the router as you log in...

And the IP address is specified by 4 Hex digits (eg. 192.168.42.13=c0A82A0D)

The long sequence of dotted numbers are whats called SNMP - and its a well documented standard protocol - so it should be just a case of finding what the SNMP codes required for changing the DNS setting is.

(also - we probably should know how to reset the modem to factory defaults before trying it in case its set to an bad ip we cannot connect to)
