It's the same every f*cking year almost.

The only consolation is that this is happening in April as opposed to May, June or July. Get the bad weather out of the way now I say...

Today is actually nice enough in Dublin, calm and doesn't feel cold, had a nice run around the park, way better than yesterday anyway.

Got some actual rain here in Swords today, think it's been about 3 weeks since I've had any appreciable rainfall the garden is dusty dry.

I was out watering the plants this evening!

Just 0.2mm so far this month in Dublin 16 after a pretty dry March (just 19.6mm).

Temperature wise not much warmer today than yesterday but feels much warmer because that biting wind is thankfully not there.

We have just had rain show here in NCD.

We have been watering the garden since last week as ground so dry and when you have a young child it's one of their favourite jobs!

I hiked up Sawel Mountain today (678 metres/2,224 feet). It is the highest I have hiked personally.

It was a moderate hike in terms of difficulty, there was a lot of muck and moss, the ground was squelchy in many places with some streams that I had to navigate around or jump over.

Some snow patches remaining. I am sure it was fairly deep up there a few days ago.

Sawel Mountain has an interesting Irish name.

Samhail Phite Méabha, meaning "the likeness of Méabh's vulva". Thats Queen Méabh of Connacht.

Great pics Nqp. It must have been fairly raw up on those slopes today!
We had our own little dusting of spring snow on some of the peaks in the West yesterday morning.

April showers and a cool breeze here today but it dried up this eve and there was nice visibility in the clear air. A little splash of colour to wrap up the day then.

It was actually dead wind wise. I am sure it was painfully bitter yesterday though. I certainly wouldn't go up there on a windy day.

Here is the chart for April 19th coming. In my 13 years of weather records it has never rained properly on this only and particular day of the year!

Woke up this morning and checked the forecast. very cold with heavy showers etc etc... I have to say it turned into a beautiful sunny day here in Mayo with brightness still left after 9pm. Lovely starry night here now with coastguard helicopter r118 in the distance carrying out some training approaches to the hospital in Castlebar.

It has been colder out here than ever I remember it in the five years I have been here. A raw biting insidious chill. And never needed fires in April before. Longing for it to ease off. Old bones are cold bones....

Yea, fire lit again here tonight. Tired of the cold now, couldn't even face doing a few jobs outside this afternoon. Cool enough until about Tuesday ( a bit better along the S ) and then a modest temp rise at that, Temp better again towards the weekend getting up to the mid teens but all the while frosty nights.

Yes any wind without West in its title means plenty of sun in Sligo...even Northerly. Ben Bulben stops most of the showers.

A bit more Northwesterly tomorrow so could be more showers in Sligo

Here at Katesbridge (Co.Down) temps got down to -7C and i see some of my plants in the shed have a few withered leaves today.

After a frosty bright start it turned into a stunner of a day here in Kerry with blue skies dotted with well spaced fair weather clouds and a lighter breeze today making it feel quite pleasant. Did well here from being close to the center of the Hp. Got up to 9.8C. Rh down to 56%.

Broke up tonight from working all day in the garden

. Anybody see the new series on RTE tonight about the Burren, went through all the seasons, the Spring flowers were spectacular, well worth watching.

Are there more northerly winds than normal this year? from cycling perspective It's good in one way that I normally head south an uphill but it makes the return downhill almost painful, and within 20min today went from nice April sun to being snowed on, I know it should be warming up in a matter of weeks but still

Chilly start again but the wind died on it's arse and the sun is quite strong now so was a lovely afternoon. Looks like we have HP for company for the next 10 days.

So very little rain away from the NW coastal zone by the looks of it.

Showery dull at times afternoon quite chilly too. Hopefully things pick up temps wise soon. I know people here would seem to think that bad weather now equals a better chance of decent summer but I’m not so sure. I’d take good weather anytime we can get it.
