Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Feck it, it worked out the last two times I bet on the local hero in Indycar, €2.50 e/w on Columbus, Ohio native Graham Rahal to win the Honda Indy 200 @9/1 (1/4 odds for a podium finish) with Bet365.

Rahal finishes 3rd, making €3.13 of profit.

I thought of betting on Vergne in the Formula E finale, but like I did with Ricciardo in the Azerbaijan GP, I dithered. :(

Another Reddit-inspired bet for tomorrow, €3 on Rossi to win the Czech MotoGP @5/1 with 188bet.

I'll also cover myself with €4 on Crutchlow to finish on the podium @3/1 & €1 on him to win @20/1, both with Bet365. There's some chance of rain tomorrow, and that's the weather in which he claimed his maiden MotoGP win at this very circuit last season.

No luck, if only the weather was the other way around (a dry start but rain after 5 or so laps)...and if only Rossi listened to his team.

I'm probably going to regret betting on an oval race, but feck it, €3 e/w on Simon Pagenaud in the ABC Supply 500 @6/1 (1/4 odds for a podium finish) with Bet365. It's either going to be a Ganassi or a Penske car which wins today, and Pagenaud looked decent in practice.

Time to look ahead to this weekend's Belgian GP, one of my early leans for the race is for Bottas to beat Vettel @19/20 with Bwin, and a Mercedes double podium finish @9/10, also with Bwin.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,964 ✭✭✭✭PopePalpatine

My first picks (all with Bwin):
    • €3 on Ocon to finish top 6 in the 1st practice session @5/2
    • €6 on Sainz to score points @7/4
    • €10 on Sainz to beat Stroll @17/20

The bets on Sainz are pretty much me gambling on a wet race. He finished 6th in the downpour of last year's Brazilian GP, and I think he'd easily have the measure of Stroll around here.

As for Ocon, I think the Force Indias will do well here, and I think he's good value to sneak into the top 6 tomorrow morning.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,964 ✭✭✭✭PopePalpatine

No luck with Ocon, but on the bright side, Sainz has shortened to 6/4 to score points after a decent P1. :o

My first bet for this weekend's Italian GP is €5 on neither McLaren to finish @9/2 with Bwin. McLaren have announced Alonso will use the same engine from Belgium, where he also failed to finish, and I don't have high hopes for Vandoorne either at the "cathedral of speed".

Also, former US Grand Prix venue Watkins Glen is hosting IndyCar this weekend, and I think Scott Dixon is attractive @7/2 with BetStars. He holds the record for most IndyCar/CART/IRL wins at the track (4), including winning last year's event from pole, and races for the team with the most wins at this track, that of Chip Ganassi.

€5 in-play on Lewis Hamilton to finish top in the 3rd practice session @13/8 with Bet365, this is typically when teams do their practice for qualifying, and Lewis has dominated that so far.

Today's word is "driveability" - it's absolutely bucketing down at Monza, and I think that could limit Lewis's ability to go flat out and thus negate his power advantage over Vettel, and I'm putting €5.49 on him to take pole @11/2 with BetVictor.

Anyone who can pose a threat to Hamilton had their qualifying compromised, so I'm putting €8 on a winning margin of over 10 seconds @2/1 with Paddy Power.

Now watch as Stroll takes out Lewis in the first corner.

Now watch as Stroll takes out Lewis in the first corner.

Have a cheeky fiver on stroll to lead at end of lap 1 for this reason. Can see hamilton playing cautious with this unknown quantity on turn 1. If stroll is over aggressive he could give him the lead with the aim of retaking it later. 7/1 on 365 seems awful high.

Or am i way off the mark?

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,964 ✭✭✭✭PopePalpatine

Yeah, I think that's a value pick, I'm just going with a fiver on him to finish top 6 @8/5 with Bwin, and another fiver on Williams to get both cars in the points @5/2 with Ladbrokes.

As much as I hate betting on the 1st practice session, IMHO Bwin messed up by giving Vettel 5/2 odds to top that session, so I'll put €3 on that.

Just so I don't have all of my eggs in the "Vettel to take pole" basket ;), I'll have €10 on him to win the race @19/10 with Betsafe. I think Ferrari were sandbagging today, and I should have noticed back when Danny Ric was 5/1 to top P1 when Hamilton went fastest around the halfway stage.

My final bets before lights out:

€4 on Raikkonen to be in 5th or worse at the end of lap 1 (Bet365). Hamilton starts right behind him, so I think he can jump him off the line or into the first corner.
€4 each on Perez & Magnussen to win their groups on Ladbrokes @6/4 & 7/4 respectively - both of them have scored points on all their visits to Singapore. I used an odds boost on these to boost them to 31/20 & 9/5.
€1 on Vettel to win, Ricciardo to finish on the podium, Hülkenburg to score points, and Kvyat & Palmer to fail to finish @40/1 on SkyBet.

Finally, it's currently pouring down in Singapore. So, to cover myself, I'll have €9 on Max @3/1 & €6 on Danny Ric @5/1 on Bwin.
