Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    How accurate are the weather conditions on this thing? Just clicked on ORK's profile and it's saying QNH 986, Wind 7 kt From west. I thought there was meant to be this hurricane Jude coming down to the south?

    The metar you're looking at is an actual weather report issued by the qualified met observer. Have a look at the TAF. Its the long range forecast. It will give you the wind speeds you are looking for.

    No one ever said there was a hurricane arriving anywhere, not least southern Ireland. You've been reading the Daily Express again!

    Storm in the English Channel and near Continent this morning, totally removed from Ireland.

    Why is it that some Ryanair (and possibly others, I haven't noticed) flights don't show up while others do? It's nothing to do with coverage as this occurs in well covered areas.

    Case in point, this moring's FR7132 to Alghero, and the return 7133, which is currently in the air, probably somewhere over France. Neither flight can be found, but many others in the area are there no problem. It seems that aircraft itself is not transmitting ADS-B.

    BECMG 2610/2612 means that the weather is going to gradually change on the 26th day of the month from between 1000hrs to 1200hrs to 20018G29KTS, which is wind from 200 degrees true at 18knots, with gusts of up to 29knots. It makes a lot more sense when taken in context of the whole report!

    Appears to be a medical emergency. An appendicitis? I am listening on London Upper East 127.43mhz.

    Edit: Appears it had to reurn to CDG because they had to burn fuel. One of the pilots just said 'Dumping Complete' as they were over the Channel. I presume he meant burned.

    For anyone interested. Frequencies 127.43mhz London Upper East, then 135.050mhz Worthing (Hurn East) then France 128.875mhz possibly Brest

    BA A380 flew from Heathrow and landed at an unmarked airport (unmarked on FR anyway). It did this lap, landed, did another lap and landed. Then flew back to Heathrow.

    British Airways A380 G-XLEB positioned London Heathrow – Paris Vatry as BA9160 this morning then operated a series of training flights from both Paris Vatry and Chateauroux as BA9162/BA9163/BA9164/BA9165/BA9166/BA9167/BA9168/BA9169 and BA9161. The aircraft then positioned Chateauroux – London Heathrow as BA9262.

    Just spotted that EIN 137 (the Aer Lingus 2pm flight to Boston) has done a sharp turn around mid-atlantic (approx 3 hours out) and is currently on a heading back to Ireland.

    Is Flightradar gone wonky or does anybody know what might be going on here?

    G-VIIS diverted to Shannon with smoke in the first class area. G-YMMG is now en route Shannon to pick up the pax and continue onwards.

    G-VIIF operating BA177 on LHR JFK declared a Mayday and diverted to SNN on the 9th. Smoke in the flight deck. A 747-400 G-CIVX was sent to SNN to continue the flight.
    G-BNWM operating BA228 BWI LHR on the 10th diverted to SNN due to a security issue with a cargo consignment.

    Yup that's it. It's been an amazing electrical storm, the new ACT has been hit a few times and the sound of the thunder is amazing. That must have been a scary flight.

    That thunderstorm dropped 15.4 mm of rain. That's the first rain to fall since May 2nd and brings the year's total to just 65.2 mm!

    Just seen an aircraft pass over where I live in the midlands, quite low , heading east, thought was an Aer Lingus or Ryanair en route to Dublin. Flight radar says its United Airlines Flight UAL 949 London to Chicago - seems it did a u -turn in mid Alantic, now tracking over Irish Sea at 2500 ft ??
    What's up ??

    Edit - looks like its landing in Dublin ??
    Edit - listening to ATC , aircraft landed , appears to have been a medical emergency ??

    Dunno what the story , just heard ATC mention ambulance in conversation with aircraft - anyone heard any other comm with this aircraft ? Presumed was medical emergency , just noticed low flying aircraft when it passed overhead en route to Dublin and followed from there so didnt get earlier comm

    Edit - Flight UAL 949 airborne again , over the midlands en route to Chicago from Dublin

    This has been covered many times before.

    It's not necessarily down to nearest hospital, pilots talk to a specialist company via sat phone and to their company and between them they decide on whether to divert and where to divert to. Limerick may not have the required specialist care required for the patient. The aircraft also needed to burn a load of fuel off to get down to its max landing weight and that probably could be achieved by flying the extra few miles to Dublin rather than going into Shannon. They also dropped down to a very low level to increase the burn rate.

    Yeah, Flightradar was showing it at 7000 ft on approach to Dublin when it passed directly overhead where I live in midlands. Thanks for the clarification urajoke !

    For the first time in a while i spent some time on Flight Radar 24 and its seems they have smaller aircraft being tracked now including learjets and propeller aircraft. Have new radars been introduced to enhance the service? A Nice addition to the service i must say.

    For the first time in a while i spent some time on Flight Radar 24 and its seems they have smaller aircraft being tracked now including learjets and propeller aircraft. Have new radars been introduced to enhance the service? A Nice addition to the service i must say.


    Theres a young lad on the south side of Dublin now with an FR24 MLAT receiver and feeds the DUB area. FR24 supply these boxes after they audit your location, view and hardware. PlanePlotter is still required for even more MLAT plots.
