Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If you're close to the router then 5G might do the job.

Your upload speed would be a more important figure, it's usually only about one eighth of your download speed depending on your package

Why would upload speed be more important for something like Stadia?

To send the commands you're inputting from your controller...

Upload speed won't affect that as much as ping I would have thought.

I would've assumed that would work no differently than playing an online game currently on PS4/Xbox? You're still sending your inputs to whatever server that online game is hosted on.

Well, you're now sending commands to the game over the internet as opposed to sending the result of those commands so it's going to be more work for your connection and your ISP.

Ah yes, hadn't thought of that but it makes sense. I'm very interested to see how it plays out. You think it has to be the future one way or another but this may be a shot too soon.

Think my upload is steady enough between 7 and 10 so that should be more than enough too.
Will be testing this out tomorrow on the laptop with my Nintendo Switch Pro Controller so will get some idea then as to how it all works. Only 8 hours to go. The system is supposed to go live at 12 tonight. My boss is interested to see how it all works too so might have it going at lunchtime tomorrow yet at work.

Maybe it has been covered already in the thread, as I'm fairly late to this particularly party, but is there any suspicion this might change some ISPs data usage policies? I've read estimates suggesting Stadia could conceivably use up to 20gigs per hour. I don't have any cap with my BB but jayyyyysus I wouldn't blame Virgin for suddenly taking a look at my usage either. A lazy weekend could rack up a serious looking number.

Serious data usage so not for those with a data cap.

All they need to do is put all those heavy users together and basically let them share their bandwidth and lag them out; exactly as they done in the past for heavy users in case they want to get rid of them.

I think I am going to cancel this for now, even though they have a hold on my funds I can not see myself getting much use out of it as it stands, it's a great idea, but if like me you already have a PS4 Pro, switch and a PC, is there any point in getting it?

I'm sure my internet is good enough, and the server's are only in Blanch and I'm not that far, but I am not spending 130 quid to play an unresponsive Destiny 2...

Really want the Digital Foundry video review though first, they have the written one but would like to see what they think...

Got a best practices email from Stadia ahead of launch!
It does say to use the Chromecast Ultra with ethernet where possible!
If not use 5ghz, but in the same room as the router if possible!
Make sure everything is on the same network.
And make sure your TV is in game mode :)

Pretty simple stuff, but no harm in checking :D

Do you game on other devices Mark? Or you just going to dip in and out of this?

When the reviews are all, it works, kinda. It's a bit off putting.

Still no change on delivery date, still the 27-28th.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,580 ✭✭✭✭Riesen_Meal

Just cancelled it, can't justify it at the moment, will see how it's going a few months down the line and sure if I want to hop in then I will... :)

I cancelled also. I did only really pre order on a curiosity basis and the fear of missing out. But the fact they don't even deliver 4k 60FPS despite that being their driving promise makes it pointless for me.

    Best review I've seen,

Seems Stadia is just a little bit away from being ready, I will wait it out for a while and maybe get it down the line...

I think when you give an obviously unfinished product early access to tech specialists, it's never going to end up well :D

Definitely, I'm the same as that user and mines already in Heathrow!
Should get to Athlone, then Shannon, then on truck for delivery in Limerick tomorrow morning! If I'm remembering the DHL routes that is :pac:

Still no email from Google with the invite code though

EDIT: Meant it's already left Heathrow :)

Still no Stadia code to sign up ordered day 1, 6th June...

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,225 ✭✭✭blockfighter

Ordered June 7th. No code either. This is a very weird way to launch a new product.

Mine is on a DHL truck, out for delivery, but I still got no code :)
The Stadia twitter account acknowledged it last night, said it was an issue that had been fixed and codes are now going out in the order the pre-order was received again!

    Losing faith here haha!

How on earth have they made such a mess of sending emails out on time? Can hardly believe it from a company as big as Google.

Don't get me started on Google, they made a witches tit of 3 of my orders recently, my Pixel 4XL, the cover arriving days later, and then a headphone adaptor taking nearly 3 week's...

Other than that though, they are normally great!

it is a joke of a launch.

ordered mine the 6th of June.

saying delivery 20-21st and still no notice that it is on the way.

My delivery was supposed to be 27-28th.
I have it sitting next to me right now on the desk in work with no sign of an invite code in sight!

    You have to laugh!! :D

Also, there will be Black Friday sales on Stadia titles next Friday, according to their forums, so unless you HAVE TO have that year old game right now, might be better off to wait until the 29th :)

Same here. Ordered the 6th and they still haven't taken the cash from my bank account. Was on to BoI twice and they confirmed they authorised the transaction on the 17th and can't explain why it's not left my account yet. No shipping which means no code and Google support just kept repeating the mantra that they were sure it would arrive by the estimated date of the 21st-22nd.

Yep, I just got off the phone to support. I got the distinct impression that the support guy had no clue what stadia was, not that it matters in resolving my query. He just told my that my product would be delivered on 20 or 21 which is obviously impossible given that it has not shipped.

6th June order here too. Money Auth. Not dispatched and no emails.

Of those who did receive what were your order dates?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,508 ✭✭✭marcbrophy

I sent them a DM on Twitter about the lack of invite code, while being nice about it too :)
    Hopefully, someone helps me out!

Got my dispatch email, should be arriving in the next day or 2. Still no code.

Had a look at the pricing on US store. $60 for red dead. It's €20 on PS4 in Tesco, and Sony won't down grade it to 1080p if you stop paying for PS+.

I'd better sit tight them, I didn't order until Aug 21st.
That was 10 weeks after you!
It took them 2 days to get through the first days pre-orders!
At this rate, I just have to wait 20 more weeks :D

I got my shipping email and my code email within 10 minutes of each other this evening. I then played Red Dead for an hour on my laptop. It works well. No noticable lag, and one small stutter on a transition between a cut scene and the game. The stutter seemed game related. Overall I am impressed with my first hour.

Looking forward to receiving my Stadia controller and chromecast so I can try it on the TV.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,232 ✭✭✭ferrigan101

I got my shipping email at 10 and the code at half past. It's coming from England so probably be Friday or Saturday before I see it.
