Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Lads what’s the craic with the academic qualifications? I don’t get my degree qualifications until July but the email states we have to bring a photocopy of them to the fitness test and assessment?

I'm in the same boat, just emailed uni and asked them to forward on transcripts hope it's alright.

I think if you get in contact with your college or university and get them to send you the transcripts of the results of exams you have done to date ie not the ones you would have done for this summer, they can equate themselves whether you’ve been doing well or whether you’re going to do well by the end of the semester. I’m wondering myself I have the results for my Undergraduate degree and my Masters degree I was going to bring but don’t know if the pay scale jumps a bit more if you have a masters of science done ? I thought I saw somewhere they pay different for Arts and Science etc

Aye I emailed them yesterday but I’ve got no reply. My uni is always last to publish results. If you apply as an engineering graduate or as a science graduate you get paid more.

The fitness test is unbelievably easy. Don't be stressing about it. I was and all the stressing was completely unnecessary. It was really simple.

I heard that if you think you'll struggle on the 1.5 mile you'll somehow get this massive boost from being beside future recruits or something i don't know :D

If you do it at Cathel Brugha barracks they basically make you do two laps of the base. I ran flat out for two weeks prior to prepare for it but some lads clearly didn't do any preparation and were absolutely dead after it. Everyone still passed though.

Anybody know how long it takes after doing the general service fitness test and interview to get called for a medical?

  • Registered Users Posts: 125 ✭✭RJ123

Anyone else been having trouble printing out the form for the GP to fill out? Not sure if something is up with the file.

Have you been printing it out from your email or downloading it and then printing it?

I had problems with my Garda vetting form. Downloaded it and opened it in word and the problem was fixed.

Lads for the cadets, are you just bringing a copy of your college degree diploma or are you bringing your leaving cert as well

Bringing a copy of the lc and the transcripts I have showing I've finished the degree as I haven't graduated yet! I gave them a ring earlier and they said that'd suffice for now for the degree but I'd say it's no harm to bring the lc too.

I think the T&C’s say you just need your degree but I guess bringing photocopies of your Leaving cert/A-Levels wouldn’t hurt

I’m in the same boat as you. I don’t graduate until the 4th of July. Going to bring my transcripts saying I’m to be awarded the degree. Will probably have to hoke out the A-Level results aswell

Has anyone here done the fitness test yet? I’m really struggling with the sit ups I can only do them if I pull myself up by my thighs but I’m wondering is there someone per candidate watching you intensely to make sure you don’t do something like that? Or does anyone know the lay out of how it usually goes?

I've done it. There's a soldier that sits with you and counts.

Just remember that wall you have to do is cup your knees when you are coming up and that counts as one sit up. On the day of it the adrenaline will probably carry you over the line.

Should we show up in shorts and workout gear when we arrive with a change of clothes in our bag or the other way around?

Not yet they said if not today it would be Monday during the talks. Frustrating though haha as I'll be at the Navy tests and won't have access to find out until after.

Then again they sent it late in the day last time so wouldn't be surprised if they do that again today.
