Not sure whether to post here or storm Ewan or winter thread. Anyway what seemed like a small squall line just passed through here in Connemara. Strong gusts and hail rattling off the windows for 5 min. Has died down a bit now, still blustery with rain.

Wet snow is best for making snowballs, pauldry. i doubt you will need the services of Will Ferrell up in Sligo tonight, though.

Just letting dogs out and was surprised by snow - took a few shots but my camera phone is crap in the dark - still a nice unexpected smattering!! Dogs immediately cheered up, ran mad and started eating it...As they do.

Had just got to sleep and have now been awoken by what sounds like golf balls hitting the house.

    Jesus these showers are severe!

    Snow reported at Cork Airport.

Snowing in Cork, near Blarney. Dry flakes but ground is too wet for it to stick. Getting heavier though!

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,634 ✭✭✭✭Graces7

Hail, rain and maybe snow at frequent intervals all the night long.. Clear, starry skies one minute then thudding hail, much as others report.

Will see what like the mountains are when it gets light.. Garden is clear I think... Bitter cold, and lack of sleep!

    West Connemara; 400 ft asl

Looks like a certain someone in Arklow may well be reporting a decent snowfall this morning, going by the radar returns over Wicklow this morning

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,233 ✭✭✭Sammy2012

A dusting of snow here on the Wexford/wicklow border. Surprised as wasn't expecting any. No doubt will be gone very shortly but nice to look at all the same. 120asl

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,634 ✭✭✭✭Graces7

    Snow in Connemara...

An odd distribution.. the garden is as thinly covered as the mountains, with deeper gatherings n the clefts and gullies

    A lovely sight.

Just a scattering, not a thick even layer. Was surprised it is on the garden

Bitter cold and dark, heavy clouds rolling purposefully in; anything now will almost certainly be snow or hail ...and hald hearted sleety snow falling now.

Snow shower in Waterford last night, can see the flakes stuck to favoured surfaces. I'm at sea level so Comeraghs should be white. Will see soon on way to work.

Yes about 1cm from a shower overnight. First lying snow since March 2013. Has mostly melted away now
