Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Out this morning for papers and went down to the harbour at Rush. Spectacular waves but could not take out my camera as the rain was sheeting down.

Plenty of floods tomorrow I guess. Take care if driving.

Another good day today. Long may it last.

Full moon tonight. Took these (handheld) to see if I could get any decent detail. Bit of camera shake so will use Tri-pod later

Not me - I never put them up more than 2 weeks before Christmas. A lot of people seem to have put theirs up very early this year.

Late next week 15th or 16th is soon enough. Saw houses with them up 2 weeks ago. I look forward to the tree going up and the rest of the decorations but the first week in December for me is to early. On one hand we complain its getting out of hand yet so many buy into it. Mind you we have Santa sorted since July:)

ah sure its all for fun. xmas decorations in november is extreme. like xmas ads before halloween. that crazy!

Once we're into December it's acceptable, and I think people are putting them up a bit earlier this year because we all need a bit of cheering up in the midst of the doom and gloom.
Sure if we didn't have Christmas to distract us the winter would be very dull and dreary altogether :D

    ^^ lol.

Well finished all my exams (okay so I only had two!) And I did very well in both. :) I think I can stop worrying now about the college making a mistake with giving me a place. :D

Anyone got a miracle cure for sore throats? I've somewhere to go to tomorrow night, Sunday night, possibly Monday night, Tuesday night and Wednesday night. I need to be fit and healthy but I don't think its gonna happen. And I've been waiting to go out and party for sooooo long!! I even bought a crappy Christmas jumper for the occasion. :(

I was in the Trinity Dental Hospital a few years back in the waiting area and a student nurse came out looking for "Hugh Jars". I was the ONLY one who copped it!! And she came out TWICE. :D I saw two dental students giggling over by a corner.

I don't know if you are into indian cookery, but if you are & you have some ground turmeric (bright yellow spice), mix a half teaspoon of the spice with a teaspoon of honey (Manuka if poss). Pop it into your mouth & try to get it to coat as much of your throat as poss.
Try not to rinse you mouth out for as look as you can.

Ooh I'll have a look and see what we have. I've got throat spray and I'm sucking honey and lemon sweets to beat the band! I can't be sick!!

Gary (Gazza) played for him and won €60,000. Won €25k in the show and got to spin the wheel and got another €35k. Great when someone in the area gets on.

Had a great win on the lotto last night myself;) Felt really lucky and had a feeling it was my time to win and buy my little house in the alps so was I pleased when I recognised some of the numbers and yes I won, €5 got me a Sunday Indo and 4 scones. Next week maybe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,930 ✭✭✭Martron

    60k!!! nice.

sorry leo but next week is my turn to win the lotto!!!

5 euro you really are in the big time now.

the most i ever won was 50 euro on a scratch card.

i was in euro spar one day though standing behind a lad at the automatic ticket checker and he won 950 euro. and there was another day when somebody got their ticket checked at the counter and the woman that checked it started screaming. the poor guy thought he had won the whole thing but turned out had won 25000. still nice though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,256 ✭✭✭LeoB

Won £78 about 10 years ago. Thats it.

One thing you should remember ALWAYS check your own ticket, just in case the person behind the counter misses something

Does any one put salt outside their door any more to stop people slipping? Paths were really dangerous at 5.45am today and another night of frost on the way. Lads in office said some garden paths were lethal.

Oh and dont forget a few crumbs for the birds, the ones with feathers;)

We have to salt the path outside our garden every morning in frosty weather, it's lethal. During the summer when B&Q were selling off old stock I bought 2 containers of salt for melting ice, it was reduced to 10c per container and they're the size of the big diswasher powder bottles.

The birds are feeding almost all day in this cold weather.

Dont trust the scanners either. Frequently tell me "not a winner" When I know there is a scratchcard or something on it. There was also a story a while ago about a woman (from Donegal, I think) Who had her ticket checked as a "not a winner" by the woman behind the counter in her local Post Office, and half an hour later the post office got a call from lotto HQ, saying their had been an error, and they had just scanned a 25 grand winner. Only for the person in the Post Office knew the ticket owner, and ran up and told them, then the ticket was in the bin!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,930 ✭✭✭Martron

i have the nuts out for the birds. they forget about them for a while then the whole net is gone in a day!!!

the lotto website is the worst for checking. once got a scratch card off a ticket the website said nothing.

Seriously? I've only been using the website to check. Back to the old manual method of pen & paper so. ;)
