Is it? She should probably not take the jokes about mass deaths too far, at least stay away from the holocaust.

The spray tan stuff is vaguely funny.

The latest remarks on Instagram are genuinely nasty. I think she was affected at the response she got for her bullsh1t and has gotten pretty serious now.

Also if she says Ireland has no white privilege, doesn't that mean we can be discriminated against by black people (she had recently said white people can't be discriminated against due to white privilege.) Although I doubt she has given that much thought.

    Now she's just trolling.

There is trolling and there is just being downright disgusting. She has crossed the line with the famine comment. I most definitely take offence to the comment and I would expect most self respecting and proud Irish people would be the same. If you see it as trolling and banter well you are a bit naive.

Katie Hopkins seem like a saint compared to this wench.

Ms Banks sounds like a very troubled young woman whose notoriety is actually bigger than her actual, supposed, talent.

She would do well to get herself into rehab and go to AA meetings.

Always take with a pinch of salt what anyone says on a plane. Cabin pressure combined with reduced mobilty and re-dustributed farts will make ya think crazy ****. Fortunately I've the good sense not to publish what's in my head, and even if I did no-one would listen. I've called children cuñts and wished debilitating syphyllis on flight attendants in the past.

How is she still on a label though?

In this day and age you can get dropped for making a clumbsy joke.

She's been abusing people for 5 yrs and still has a career. What's so special about her? Why does she get a pass?

That disgusting famine comment will go down very badly in Irish America.

I doubt Irish America has heard of her.

Erm yep the majority are I'm afraid.

Statistically. Over 60% of Irish adults are overweight.

And yeah the lads are overweight too.

What are you sensitive about? Facts are facts.

I don't know.. ever stood on a packed morning train? Us Irish people are not the most pleasant on the eye..

And the majority of our ladies are carrying far too much excess

Well, you said that the majority of Irish women are carrying excess weight when apparently it’s the menfolk of this nation who are significantly skewing the excess weight statistics.

    https://www.google.ie/amp/s/www.irishtimes.com/life-and-style/health-family/obesity-in-irish-men-increasing-at-alarming-rate-1.3610457%3fmode=amp

Irish women are 52/48 unhealthy weight/healthy weight whereas Irish men are 70/30 unhealthy weight/healthy weight, according to that article.

A scant majority of Irish women are overweight at 52%. So you are technically right. But it’s basically 50/50 for women whereas there is a much more significant percentage of overweight men in Ireland.

Ah you wouldn't have failed as a parent. Can't stop kids from being into what the crowd are into, but I agree otherwise.

The mixed messages are what get me - "don't allow yourself to be objectified" yet "be as overtly sexual as possible".

Sounds like she studied at the Emily Ratajkowski School of Feminism! :pac:

Whose vitriol is enabled and championed.

"The young woman, who is in her early twenties, is with a friend. They are holding a rather amusing sign that says “Ugly Ass Aer Lingus Bitches”. Security don’t want to let them in, but after assuring them they are fans and that Banks will like it, they’re waved inside."

A chant rises up from the irreverent and energetic crowd – “F**k Aer Lingus”– while they wait for Banks to arrive during a lengthy DJ set. It is, undeniably, quite funny.

Don't know who is worse. The racist numpty or the clowns who enable her BS.
Any white artist conducting themselves like Banks would be out in the cold even if they had 'the bops'.

Likely looked up the country on wikipedia for the first time.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I've never heard any of this persons music (to my knowledge) and she seems like an absolute cretin, which probably isn't too out of step in this day and age.
I obviously hope her career ends up in ruins, yet again anti Irish xenophobia isn't really that much of a big deal because we're just the Irish.
If she had said something like that about Jews or the holocaust it would be career over.

    Glazers Out!

My favourite thing with IE was seated in emergency row this elderly lady with a back problem asked to be moved to sit on the Emer row, then neither she nor the portly stewardess could manage to put her bag in the overhead bins due to back issues- I obliged but enquires if it was safe to have someone with mobility issues on the emergency rows...

I don’t find IE all that.

As I said earlier, I didnt know who she was until this thread.

I gave her a pas because it seemed like the equivalent of a mouthy Conor McGregor stunt for self promotion and a PR drive.

However, the dig about the famine has angered people as its one of the worst things to happen to the Irish people, no matter how long ago. If McGregor was to mirror this vein and while in the U.S of Ahhh and was fighting a black guy.....if he refered to his past with a reference to "cotton picking" there would be global outrage.

She is an irrelevent stereotype that warrants no response.

I think most people in Ireland have a sense of humour and really we genuinely don't take ourselves all the seriously or have any kind of notions of superiority about our nationality, other than liking to be liked.

However, I think she has gone way beyond simply slagging people off and banter. The kind of stuff that she's coming out with is old fashioned xenophobia and hibernophobia / anti-Irish slurs that should be left in the 19th century. It's straight out of the back issues of Punch Magazine from about 1870.

While African-American stories and Irish stories are different, there are parallels between two peoples who were severely oppressed not that many generations ago and there is mutual understanding of that to the point that even Fredrick Douglass came here to speak in the 19th century.

She's failing to see any of that and just hurling abuse at people based on her own US-centric biases and not even seeing that the context and history in the place she was standing is completely different.

She's not representative of African-American culture. She's just an obnoxious diva wanna be from NYC who thinks all publicity is good publicity - it really isn't.

Time to take a deep breath and ignore!

What a disgusting cretin. She'd want to cotton on that this type of ridiculous nonsense isn't welcome outside of some hood in the bronx

I wouldn't be surprised if she makes it onto some "celebrity" reality show.

That or as a new member of the Trump cabinet specialising in international diplomacy.
