Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi guys hope someone here can reassure me or someone that is in the same position as me.

I emailed HR 8 months ago enquiring about my vetting they sent me this

Your file is undergoing our vetting process.  The vetting process is multi-tiered and thorough for each applicant and each file is vetted on an individual basis.  Unfortunately we do not currently have a completion date for your file at the moment.
We will be in touch with you in due course.

Last week emailed them again and I got the same exact answer! Could my vetting be still on going really is that normal.

    Thanks

Unfortunately, yes. My vetting took 15 months. It's really just pot luck with the vetting - some folks don't take long at all, others it takes a long time. Depends on whether you've traveled/lived abroad, studied abroad, have family abroad or whether all your relatives are being good boys and girls.

Welcome to the club, I don’t mean that in a bad way but you’re not alone, there are many like you waiting for vetting to return and we all get the same response from hr.

Don’t let it get you down there are a lot of people in a similar position

    Thanks for the info
I been waiting since December 2019 and still nothing at all.

I know family and my self never had any issues at all with the law however I have few family members that live in different countries could that delay the process.

If they say your file is at final checks stage but that them checks wont be done until passed medical, does that mean the vetting is more or less done or...?

I know how you feel, constantly wondering what the hold up could be.

Unfortunately there is no answer, I’ve speculated and spoken to guards etc trying to understand, there honestly seems to be no logic behind the process

we just have to wait a longer, certainly not the answer you wanted but you’re not alone

    Regarding vetting,

I’m not trying to upset or fearmonger anyone with their own vetting.

Your vetting could return at any time, you will always get the same answer from the HR office but it genuinely is different for everyone

Your vetting could get cleared quickly or not but don’t let it get you down if it doesn’t

Have you tried ringing them ? Apparently they are trying to fill up spots , a quick call in the morning enquiring about your file will tell you a lot, might even get a spot this weekend if someone pulls out last minute , best of luck 💪

I haven’t actually, I’ll definitely get on that! Just hoping I’m ready for the fitness test, the one part I’d be really worried about is the dreaded Bleep test!

Practice a few times … Once you understand the timing & your level of fitness relevant to the test you’ll know how much work you have to put in to get the level you need to achieve. I got the call a week at a weeks notice and ran the test twice each night to ensure I understood the pace and to give myself that bit of confidence that I’d smash it on the day… You’ll be grand, mindset is key!

    Hello All,

Just to give some feedback here.

I competed the PCT test with 5 others on Saturday 05.06.21. Arrived at 1:50pm for the 2:15pm slot.

5 in my group. 1 other male and 3 Females. - all very nice people.

I passed all stages of the PCT, but like others I did not get paperwork or an email to say I passed.

Of that group 3 out of 5 passed.

I’ve no doubt I will get a email shortly to be called for medical in HQ.

It was what I expected, but the push / pull was harder than I thought it would be.

Oh really, yeah I heard the push/pull is not to be under estimated alright! The people who failed, which parts of the fitness did they fail on?

Hi all. Do we know were the medicals are being done? Is it with our own GP or we have to go to a specific Garda doctor?

I got an email back from HRM today in regards to my vetting and the usual response “The vetting process is multi-tiered and thorough for each applicant and each file is vetted on an individual basis. Unfortunately we do not currently have a completion date for your file at the moment.” Still have no date either for the fitness, hopefully I’ll hear something soon!

I emailed them on 1st June and got that response from them. Basically said they would be in contact with me in due course. So I’d imagine if we are to hear anything it would be Friday because the next intake is 19th July and I’m sure they will give a months notice for work etc. Other than that my guess is as good as anyone’s at this stage!! Hopefully we hear something soon!

Does anyone have any tips for the sit ups. Struggling with the 35 in one minute. Any tips on breathing or technique would be appreciated. I seem to have the rest nailed down.

Get yourself a sit up bar from Argos €10, it goes under your door. After that it’s just practice, you’ll be on a gym mat not a hard floor and that will give you a spring up when you go down.

Try and recreate the environment as best you can, feet under the bar, mat on your back, hands on your temples chest to your knees, practice your form,

after that it’s simply strengthening your core from planks, roll outs etc, it’s a mix use of muscle groups from your lower and upper back to your abs, condition them all

Just have a source, now they're not a 100% but makes sense with COVID.

    Also intake end of July.

Does this really make sense tho? Do Gp's have all the equipment for eye test hearing test etc? Would we have to pay our gp's for this ? Would everyones gp have an appointment for this before July intake ?

Again, take everything with a pinch of salt. But that's what I was told and I thought I'd pass it on.

I was talking to occupation health a couple of weeks ago and was told the same,
although I think it was said that only people who have to repeat certain elements (such as BMI) of the medical would go to their GP to get it complete. Sure we'll find out soon please god

Jsut got an email from HRM with the GP clearance form to complete and send back! Any of you have have completed the fitness test so far, were you waiting long after you sent back the GP clearance form before you got a date for the fitness?
