Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Little did we think, in the future the noodi ladies would just be there in an instant . Not arriving pixilated line by pixilated line, until 3 mins later you had your image, only to find out in the last few lines, she had a willy.

8 kids all piled into a Escort estate, not a seat belt in sight. All survived.

Camping in a canvas tent, when it was lashing you woke up wet.

Swinging on the pole at the back of bus, while the bus was moving.

Getting stuck in the old diesel train, too small to reach the handle.

Tarzan, football, snooker etc. in black and white.

And isnt it amazing that with all the leaps forward in technology, the original magnetic tape (albeit with a lot of R&D gone into advancement of the technology) can still Outperform HDD’s for capacity,
It just means that a roll of tape has a much larger surface area than a disk.

And on proper OS's you can even boot from tape which can come as a surprise to anyone who has ever encountered difficulties setting one up.

If you drop a tape it probably won't die.
And in theory you could restore data off a 30 year old tape.

    [RANT]
The reality is that unless you have lots of data, hard drives are cheaper because tape drives are really expensive and tapes aren't cheap. And good luck trying to restore a 30 year old tape in the Microsoft world unless you have the right software and right service pack and right firmware on a working drive which is likely to be SCSI so good luck getting a working cable. Any working old IDE or SATA drive can be read with a cheap adaptor. But it's much easier to copy all the stuff off an old drive onto a bigger new one.

Tape is obsolete unless you have a robotic storage library and way too much data. [/RANT]

Was talking about this with my mum at the weekend, pushing my dad's old clapped out bangers down the hill from our house to get them started, being swathed in plumes of stinky smoke... my mum swears the pushing of the cars was the cause of various gynae problems she's had since!!!!

My dad had a car where if you sat in the front seat you could see the road under you between your feet. You had to put your feet either side of the giant hole from rust.

Or the 6 hour drives to Kerry with all of us sitting on the back of a flat bed truck.
