Yeah you said it could turn into luck if managers drop out so I thought you felt someone has.

There is 4 games left and it couldn't be tighter so I don't understand your comments.

I don’t know how else to try and explain it.

I’m not saying anyone has dropped out.

    I’m saying managers could.

So what if 1-2 or even 3 managers stopped playing now ? Do you not think it would ruin the end of the season ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,724 ✭✭✭eoghan104

No not really. For what reasons do you think it would?

It's the nature of any league that people will lose interest when they are out of contention. All we can go on is this years data where nearly everyone has been in contention right up to now and it has been a lot more competitive than last year. Would be a strange decision to want to change on that basis.

It just comes down to whether people want to play the draft format or not and that option is always there.

Managers dropping out won’t impact a classic league.

    Agreed.

So then as I said the question is if you want to play draft or not knowing there is a chance that managers losing interest may have a small effect on the league.

There is hundreds of classic leagues people can join, the reason we are here is because we like the draft format. Suggesting a change to classic with the same group is bizarre.

    It’s not bizarre.

I’ve been in this league since it started. Think this might be it’s third year.

I was the first to suggest H2H and people were a bit cold on it.

The first year it ran as a classic.

I think you are getting draft and classic mixed up.

    It’s a draft league.

The scoring can be classic or H2H.

I think the H2H element has been sufficiently more enjoyable than classic leagues I’m in, that i would be willing to take the risk that someone lets the side down and goes zombie towards the end of the season.

Sorry I was confusing your suggestion. I thought you wanted to ditch the draft and have a classic league!! My bad.

    This where I got confused.

I do think there is still some impact on managers dropping out of a draft league with classic scoring when it comes to waivers.

I don’t see it as letting the side down.

I think it’s fairly understandable if someone drops out when they’ve nothing to pay for.

I agree it’s definitely more fun in the H2H format but I just got to thinking that it’d be a **** end to the season if the last 4-6 weeks weren’t contested.

It would be a huge anticlimax.

I would still kind of see it that way, but sure look, I don't get to control what other people do.

    Yea and no.

It the team is dead it’s dead. So I’ve 3rd waiver but I actually get 1st choice as the guys below me drop out but the guys above go from 6th pick to 4th. So much the same maybe.

I nearly got shot for suggesting that mangers that drop out should declare and put their ‘chips’ back in, meaning, turn in their 15 players and pick up 15 non playing players so good players aren’t just sitting in a dormant team for several weeks.

In fairness I did suggest it towards the end of the season, much like now, but it’s only when something appears that I see it.

And I don’t think there’s any harm in anyone making suggestions.

Good or bad (suggestions), we can hopefully find solutions to what may be problems or how to make something better.

It’s good to tinker and try and make something more enjoyable and competitive.

I like that idea if someone is 100% out of the running.

The problem is it seriously disadvantages the people at the top.

Guy in 7th place might get Salah, guy in 1st place might get Nat Phillips.

Yeah true there is no real equitable way to spread out the players.

Is all this because I got Maguire this week? ;)

I'm out of the running but I'm still trying to beat everyone!

Nobody has dropped out. Well maybe AVERAGE has, he's slipped right down the table and never posts. I never liked that guy anyway.

I missed the deadline this week by about 15 minutes, that could be what Klopp was referring to. But in fairness I missed deadlines when I was in the running

It has nothing to do with this season.

I just realised what could happen and to be honest I think it would be acceptable for mangers to drop out but it would an anticlimax for the table toppers if that happened.

Again no. Nothing to do with this season.

Looks like every manager has taken what I’ve said the wrong way.

The rain in Ireland must be laced with paranoia.

You’d some season considering you missed that initial deadline. You took it well too. You would have started with a much better team even though you were setup for that possibility (of missing the initial deadline). And, from memory, you were easily the most overachieving manager. Maybe lessons to be learned from the way you played.

Dearg was the seasons unluckiest manager.

I had a ****e season all round. Probably the first time I've lost interest in the Premier league and fantasy games since it started. I think I just reached saturation point with all the games going on as I stopped watching games live a few months ago bar champions league.

    Could have written that myself.

Draft was the only glimmer I had all season.

I'll be back next season though. It will feel like a nice big 6 month break in August for me since I stopped playing.

I could do with Klopp doing me a favour!

Eoghan104 plays CSF in 37 and me in 38 so anything could happen really. With 3 games in a week to finish there’s sure to be lots of rotation so it’s gonna be tough to navigate.

Yeah it really is all to play for, your points total is a big advantage for you, more over eoghan104 than myself because I’ve drawn games, but it does shut down the idea of a draw being a viable result for me also.

Only a few hours turnaround until the next waiver deadline.

Think this was a pivotal GW and Trimm surely has one hand on the trophy ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,724 ✭✭✭eoghan104

Well that's me out. I feel like I lost the dressing room the last few weeks. My lads just don't want to play for me anymore after a great season.

Chairman has called me in for a chat this afternoon, I expect he just wants to thank me for a great season.....

Hope so - but Dearg looks better set up than me for this week. Very easy to lose 2 in a row in this game so not counting my chickens at all.

I'll keep you honest anyway. I've put out a strong 11 with 4 United and 2 City defenders who should play.

Eh, this might just go to the last day after all. Those Pereira and Richarlison goals have turned it on its head.

Yep unless Pereira fancies an own goal or a red card we’re going to the last day. A nice squeaky bum Sunday for us!

I haven’t won yet either, plenty of guys left to do something stupid and get minus points for me.

We both have tough fixtures to end the season anyway.

    Best of luck today CSF.

My fpl season has been very average so it’s been great to have something to play for in this every week.

Fair play to Megaphone and Dearg who’ve been out of contention the longest but kept drafting and setting up their teams.

Congrats Trimm, eoghan104 did the job for me but I wasn't able to take advantage.

Was a pleasure again, and looking forward to doing it all again next year

Cheers yeah I was surprised to lose today especially after my team started with a few goals so thanks to Green and Red for doing the business.

Defo up for playing next year again.

    Congrats Trimm Trabbs!

Delighted to finish off the season with a win over my nemesis, that f*cking Average Team!

Well done Trimm and commiserations to CSF.

It was a good competitive league and good craic to play every week.

I only beat ‘average’ once all season so I was probably lucky to get as close as I did.

Don’t feel like I’ve learned many lessons, to improve my efforts for next season, but looking forward to draft day already as it’s the best part of the FPL season.

    Hi guys.

Going to set this league up again with a few tweaks from last season if you all approve.

First up it will be WTA, winner takes all, again. No debate there.

The 7 participants from last season will have until the 1st of August to accept their place and pay the €50 entry fee.

I think we should have a cap of 8 players and will offer it (the final place) out once the 7 have confirmed their intentions or from the 2nd of August if some of the 7 don’t respond.

The tweaks - as it’s a H2H league I think this should come into play if there is a tie at the end of the season. This season we decided, late on, to just use the classic score to seperate but I’m thinking we can do better than that.

I’m suggesting that in the event of a tie that whoever has the most overall weekly H2H wins is declared the winner. If that is also a tie then their actual H2H’s, against each other, are counted. If it is still tied then the combined scores in those weekly H2H’s will determine the winner.

I have set the draft to start on Tuesday the 10th of August at 10.30pm. This is pretty much the same start time as the last 2-3 seasons so I hope it suits everyone again. Looking at you Green&red.

I have extended the interval between picks from 30 seconds to 60 seconds as someone was unhappy with 30 seconds last year.

I’ll wait a week from now, to give you all a chance to contribute your two cents, before setting up the new thread.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,173 ✭✭✭Dearg81

I'm in. The new rules and 60 seconds per pick sounds good to me, 30 secs forced me into some rushed picks late on in the draft last time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,552 ✭✭✭✭CSF

God I do not like this new forum format, I'm unquestionably in though.
