Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I wouldn't read too much into it - very early doors. Some interesting positional switches, though - Breen and Fitzell at midfield. Hamill at full back - Brendan Maher at wing back...

He has a ways to go...

He might go a bit better at full...not saying he's a starter but i don't think he has the pace for center back.

We might have two McGraths in the corners this year - and neither of them might be Noel...

That's if Bubbles is picked further out...

I see ger alyward is out for the season with a cruciate i think.with power retiring as well they might be short of options up front then again probably not.

no way. They've plenty options. they're like weeds in a garden, one's gone and another one sprouts up the next day.

Cracking player....real wristy hurler, low centre of gravity. has the potential to be one of the greats.

it's usually 6 to 8 months for a cruciate - depends on the healing power of the player. He might miss Leinster and then be back...

Mary I are out in the Fitzgibbon today, so that combined with the Limerick V Clare match in he final of the munster league meant they had pretty much a third choice team out, little or nothing to be taken from the game.

They are undoubtedly weakened by Aylward and Power's absence, and it is not as simple as it once was to replace these guys. Essientally what they now have for next year is an ageing and slowing Eoin Larkin as a first choice, an inconsistent and often misfiring Walter Walsh as a guaranteed starter and they will have to add one or two unproven neebies probably Kelly and Boldger or maybe Blanchfield.

I see Aidan O'Shea is talking of weaker footballing counties joining together?

What if Clare, Limerick, Waterford, and Tipp pooled their resources in inter-county football?!?

Power played very little last season anyway...

Power hardly played last season anyway. Plus they can move hogan up the pitch from midfield....super strong panel

With power it was more the damage he can do in the short space of time he is on the field.

Tipperary are hardly in that position though are they that they would have to pool?dont know much about the state of football in tipp either so one of the football lads might tell us?

It's no where near as strong as it was a couple of years back, and KK would not have won the AI in 2014 without Power, the two loses together is a very big blow.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,550 ✭✭✭evolving tipperary

Kilkeeny have suffered losses and lost players - like JJ, Brian Hogan Henry and et al the season before - KK have proved they can weather such losses - Players stepped up - Power had moved on - was injured more often than not. While it's a cruciate injury Aylward has - he might make it back for the AI quarters/semis - depending on his powers of recovery

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,550 ✭✭✭evolving tipperary

Well, they just lost three of their brightest stars...to hurling and aussie rules.

Plus, they got hammered in their final game last year - there is still a gap - not as big as the gap was before. But, pooling with another county might bring more trouble than anything! Particularly, if its Limerick!!!!! They have a choice county board!

    From the TIpp website:

Tipperary defeated Laois by 1-31 to 0-17 in a Senior Hurling Challenge on Sunday afternoon in Dr. Morris Park Thurles.

On a windy, wet day in Thurles, Laois had the aid of the strong wind in the first half and raced in to a 0-9 to 0-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. Tipperary steadied the ship somewhat in the second quarter but still trailed at the interval by 0-14 to 0-6.

The second half was all one way traffic for a much changed Tipperary (13 half time changes) as they dominated from an early stage. Eight unanswered points saw Tipperary draw level by the 47th minutes before a good catch and pass by Conor Kenny helped set up John McGrath for the games only goal in the 51st minutes. Laois did recover to score three unanswered points midway through the second half but the last ten minutes saw Tipperary score at will to complete a 17 point victory, 1-31 to 0-17.

PJ Scully (7) and Willie Hyland (3) were the top scorers for Laois while second half subs Liam and John McGrath accounted for 1-9 of Tipperary’s 1-25.

Anyone with the Tipp team to play Clare today, with if possible, the subs. Or am I on the wrong thread ? Maybe there is a separate thread for the footballers!

No, as I did not as I never expected to see it there, thank you, good even gives the players clubs.

    Evan Comerford – Kilsheelan Kilcash
    Colm O’Shaughnessy – Ardfinnan
    Jimmy Feehan – Killenaule
    Ciarán McDonald – Aherlow
    John O’Callaghan – Ballyporeen
    Robbie Kiely – Carbery Rangers
    Alan Campbell – Moyle Rovers
    Alan Maloney – Rockwell Rovers
    Martin Dunne – Moyle Rovers
    Josh Keane – Golden Kilfeacle
Peter Acheson (Capt.) – Moyle Rovers
Brian Fox – Éire Óg Annacarty
    Kevin O’Halloran – Portroe
    Conor Sweeney – Ballyporeen
    Philip Austin -Borrisokane

Maybe one day they will get around to listing the substitutes. I think the subs deserve a bit of respect.

If Tipp do not win today I will be asking why the game was not played in Thurles. I do not have to be reminded that there was a club game played there yesterday. Just throw your mind back to Kilmallock last Sunday a game played there the day before and the club worked very hard to get the pitch right under the most difficult of conditions !

    Who got the goals?

Tipperary ensured a clean sweep of home wins in the division with a 2-07 to 1-07 win over Clare at Sean Treacy Park.

Tipperary led by 1-04 to 0-04 at half-time after Conor Sweeney netted a first minute goal.

Clare levelled the tie at 1-07 apiece with nine minutes remaining, thanks to a Jamie Malone goal, but Brian Fox raised a green flag with eight minutes remaining to ensure a home victory.

    Who got the goals?

think this years league is slightly weaker then last year , ye still have a very strong panel without the clonmel players , plus i think any team in this division would be reeling with the loss of stephan o'brien and conor o riordan i still have ye down as favorites for promotion

corect me if i am wrong but i think this is right , tipp scorers as follows

    philip austin 0-5
    brian fox 1-1
    conor sweeney 1-0
    josh keane 0-1

Only time will tell - but, the limerick game was a bad start - it'll be exciting to see tipp when the Clonmel players get back. But, yes, those two players are a huge loss...
