Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

ok thanks guys! So an overall package - Nice voice/accent, easy to digest format; guests (Prichard / Eric) have good insight to the biz, deep dives/through research. Missing anything else on Conrad?

I've had to pack in PostWrestling. Wai Ting is fine but Pollock is just a total outrage merchant. Tiresome to listen to.

The disgust at tapings taking place during Covid, noticing how many weren't wearing masks (fair enough but almost every week? Come on...) acting like Flair is being forced to do angles.

Calling the Tozawa ninja stuff racist. Ridiculous.

This week then on the Kevin Owens/Excalibur n-word stuff. They were wrong and stupid to have said it but it was 17 years ago, for goodness sake. Owens would've been 18/19. Pollock's hand-wringing faux-concern over the whole thing is eye rolling.

When they're actually discussing wrestling they're good to listen to.

I don't remember him having the same issues with UFC running cards covid. I like wai but I still listen but at times it's the people who cried outrage with it. What I mean is it's right and proper to pull people on stuff people say and do with the intent is obvious. It's the implying motive to things I find unhelpful. If everything is offensive then when there's actual offense then it won't stand out.

It did get a bit annoying them going on about it, while at the same time doing the show every week. Surely if you think it's that bad stop reviewing the show and stop making money off it. It's calm down now, but honestly, the talk about ratings and demo's across all wrestling media is so boring.

I kinda stop listening to most of the wrestling podcasts as they all seem so negative at the minute. Maybe just a general negative vibe in wrestling with the CV-19, and the speaking out movement going on as-well.

EC3 on Talk is Jerichio. Had to turn it off after about 15 minutes. The guy is an absolute mark for himself. No wonder he couldn't cut it in the big leagues.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,753 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

Im surprised, he always strikes me as someone more down to earth.

While I havent listened, could it be a case of him just being tongue in cheek?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,689 ✭✭✭sky88

all wrestlers know that if they crap on wwe after being released gets there name out there in the news gets the fans who hate wwe and love anything bad said about them on their side too its why these kind of podcasts there doing with jericho is important

I have to say that the Muhammad Hassan aka Marc Copani interview was excellent and it's great to hear the guy got his life together after what happened in WWE which wasn't his fault, it was just awful timing over the 7/7 London bombings. But he's in a good place and talked about shad gaspard and refreshingly he was able to admit that it wasn't all perfect.

Listening to this weeks Something to Wrestle and Prichard is back tracking like sum b1tch on everything negative he ever said about The Ultimate Warrior and is now praising him.

Working with Warriors wife now in the WWE he is to much of a coward to stand by original thoughts and words on Warrior.

This week's Retro Wrestle Chat we have a heated debate over our opinion on who was the better man Bret The Hitman Hart or Shawn Micheals we even did some promos of our own for the laugh dotted in there so check it out

Id love to hear a conrad podcast dedicated to ECW, obviously Heyman would be the ideal candidate with just the way he tells stories however I think Joey Styles would be alot nore honest and he was there for WWECW also

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 461 ✭✭jface187

Conrad ECW Podcast with Heyman would go like this:

Conrad: Meltzer says at this time you were going to push Sandman but after this poor match you decided against it, was this true?

Heyman: Well since Meltzer got all his ECW Gossip directly from me, that is 100 percent true.

Conrad:...So em, yeah, ok in the observer it also said you were not happy with Raven after this match also, is this true?

Heyman: Yes once again since I was talking directly to Dave everything that it's in the Observer about ECW at this time is true.

Conrad: Wait, wait I have to come up with my own questions and thoughts for this podcast? and not just read old Observers, take bits from them, and Masquerade them as questions?

    Heyman: Yes.

Conrad: Okay that's a wrap on our show, go to save with Conrad for some great deals.

I know, I was getting into whatculture podcasts, but the lad who shouts Retirbution! and Iconic! everytime has put me off. It's not funny and bloody annoying.

  • Registered Users Posts: 773 ✭✭✭TimesArrow

The host of WhatCulture ( Adam wilbourn) is quite likeable I think.. some of the contributors I find are a bit obnoxious and pompous and sometimes they are way too over the top in their criticism of wwe ( even if I often agree with most of it) And effusive praise of AEW

On the flip side, I like Gorilla Position as well but they so often go along with anything wwe pump out and are almost at pains to say how good the product is when it is anything but. This is a pod that gets Talent on regularly so I’d imagine they can’t be damning in the criticism

Starting to scrape the barrel a bit now. Kind of sick of Conrad’s pods at this stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,689 ✭✭✭sky88

The only Conrad podcast I’m interested in is whenever Bruce gets fired again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,804 ✭✭✭Sirsok

Yeah im noticing alot or repetive stuff being said between both JR and Bruce's podcast at this stage.

I used to be a big listener but now not so much

  • Registered Users Posts: 773 ✭✭✭TimesArrow

The tone is so self satisfied and smug... and you get the impression there’s a lot of history being rewritten on these. I used to be mildly interested in Prichard, JR and to a lesser extent Bischoff, but have never had any interest in Schaivone or Anderson’s pods

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,905 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Tom Prichard now added to Conrad’s podcast line up.

That is 3 new podcasts announced this week.

The bottom of the barrel has been reached now I think.

Thought Meltzer going on about ratings was bad enough, but him giving a beat-by-beat recap of being the elite is worse.

"So..um...The Young bucks are in a room...right, and then John silver walks in...no wait it was..no it was John Silver..anyway there in the room. Then the bucks say to John, "You're a mark" and this is funny because the other week John said this to them. "

If you’re sick of Meltzer and the Conrad Cartel and want to support an Irish Pod...

We just interviewed Ken Shamrock (24 hrs before his Impact title match this week with Rich Swann).

We cover MMA, early UFC, his entire WWF run and his current Impact run.

We interviewed Raven on Wednesday evening. Surreal discussing angles and matches with a guy whose poster was on my bedroom wall in circa 1997!

We chatted about partying with Shane McMahon, Stevie Richards, Heyman, ECW and whether he’d take on a managerial role in AEW like some of his contemporaries.

Episode won’t be edited for a few days but here’s our podcast:

To put our own spin on the Undertaker celebration, we've decided to specifically deep dive into his World Title wins.

Fittingly, there are seven of them and each of them tell their own story of just where the Undertaker was in both his career and life at the time.

We'll tangle with Hulk Hogan on two occasions, we'll meet Sycho Sid and then we'll head to the most controversial PPV in wrestling history (the night Owen Hart died) as Taker battled Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Then we jump to the re-birth of Undertaker where he certainly had his greatest matches as an in ring performer and we meet Batista, Edge and CM Punk.

This is an episode like no other as Takers career jumps from the cartoonish, to the graphic, to the ridiculous and to the sublime.

Last week we had the pleasure of interviewing the WWE, ECW and WCW legend Raven!

We cover so much in this interview including:

    His relationship with Stevie Richards
The difference between calling a match in the ring versus rehearsing a match in advance,
His advice to AJ Styles and Frankie Kazarian after "that finish"
Just how good does Raven believe AJ Styles is?
    Raven's booking in ECW.
Would Raven like a managerial role in AEW?
Who had the better DDT - Raven or Jake the Snake - and how best to deliver it?
    Who took the best DDT?
Why Shane McMahon should have played Johnny Polo and not Raven.
Why Vince McMahon did not approve of his relationship with Shane.
His tour with Irish Whip Wrestling and teaming with Sheamus.
Irish Druids and Mushroom sex parties (yes, really).

We interviewed VIRGIL this week. It’s a total car crash.

    Highlights include:

    - Him describing his own birth from first person POV.

    - Him reading place names off a map of Canada

    - Him claiming the three guys he’s still most in contact with in wrestling are: Hogan, Austin and The Rock.

    Other than that we discuss:

    - His world title shot against Bret, him joining NWO and the Curley Bill gimmick.

This week we interviewed Charles ‘Godfather’ Wright.

    We discuss:

1). His botched run in during the main event of Wrestlemania 8 and whose fault it was.

2). Why Pat Patterson thought Papa Shango would kill the business.

3). The story behind Kama Mustafa

4). WCW making attempts to sign him and join the NWO

5). Racism in WCW and whether the Nation of Domination could work in the current political climate.

    6). The Rock

7). Ron Simmons and shooting on Ahmed Johnson

8). The forming of the Godfather character

9). Where did all the 'hoes' come from?

10). Being the guy scheduled to take on Owen Hart the night he died.

11). Why he absolutely hated the Right to Censor

12). How we found out he was going into the Hall of Fame.

Found the Taker pod with Joe Rogan pedestrian enough. Not bad by any account but just found many of the topics discussed at length (injuries and medical stuff) were given just too much time.

I wish he went deeper into the guy and what takes him tick.

He was quite coy expanding on any Vince talk.
