Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

That looks under par, but way more than it should have been

151 runs, what an innings. Pretty much gave Ireland a target all by himself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

West Indies hit 357/4 in their 50 overs v UAE

Good positive start by Ireland as they chase down 236. 14/0 after 1.4 overs.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 259 ✭✭Claregaafan18

Stirling on 18. Porterfield on 14. Impressive stuff from the opening partnership. 33/0 after 4 overs.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 259 ✭✭Claregaafan18

Stirling out for 27. Ireland now 52/1 after 7.3 overs.

    65/1 after 11. rrr 4.38

Run rate has gone from nearly 7 an over to less than 4 in the 3.3 overs since Stirling's dismissal.:eek::eek:

Do I need to start worrying?

Only really following progress here, but is this 20/20, or one day format?

One day internationals. 50 overs a side.

After 14.3 overs, the run rate is 5.04 and the required run rate is 4.58. No need to panic......yet!

Jaysus, don't be doing that to me. 14.3 @ 5.04 means we are only 73/1!! We have only added 21 runs in the last 7 overs (From 52/1 after 7.3).

I would call that time to panic!

Way too early to panic about the RR.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,970 ✭✭✭Deise Vu

We are 94/ 2 after 20 overs. Balbirnie went for 7 in the 16th over after facing 25 balls. Ed Joyce is in now and has 13 off 22 balls. Porterfield still going with a very respectable 45 off 53 balls. Run rate required is almost exactly our run rate so far despite being well ahead with the openers.

OK, I am officially starting to panic now.

Way too early to panic about the RR.

Plenty of wickets in hand but the RR since Stirling's dismissal has been a paltry 3.28 (41 off 12.3 Overs).

A lot of people talking about rr. Lets just win this match first of all and rr and all the permutations that come with it will take care of itself.

Think they're referring to the required run rate to win the match rather than the avg r/r for the table.

Current rate is below the required but plenty of wickets in hand. A more difficult task than one would have expected given how the match started

Still plenty of wickets remaining. Zero need to panic yet. PNG were 68/5 at this point in their innings.

Barring a collapse, looks as though Afghanistan will beat Zimbabwe.

    Calm down everyone

Porterfield reaches his half century. 52 runs off 65 deliveries.

Lot of experience at the crease now, seem to be doing the job nicely. Surely a positive that they are getting a decent game they will, bar a miracle, win comfortably enough.

    What are we now ?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,440 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Halfway through and exactly halfway to the target.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,178 ✭✭✭carltonleon

Still plenty of wickets in hand so to up the rate if required

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,861 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

West Indies put up a big score, but why is Marlon Samuels still in the team?

Good over. 12 from it to get the RR back up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

146/2 after 30. Wouldn't worry about the run rate. Wickets in hand critical at this point.

This games points and NRR score won't carry through to the super six so doesn't matter how much we win by, just that we get the win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Rotating the strike nicely now. 165/2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    Joyce 50

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 259 ✭✭Claregaafan18

95 runs the 3rd wicket partnership between Porterfield and Joyce. 171/2 now and cruising it would seem. Just 65 runs to win.

184/2 after 37 and Porterfield into the 90s

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    Joyce out for 53

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,234 ✭✭✭VillaMad

    Joyce gone for 53. 184/3.

52 runs needed from 13 overs.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 259 ✭✭Claregaafan18

Joyce out for 53! 184/3 now with Niall O'Brien now in the crease.

3 wicket over for Zimbabwe there

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,234 ✭✭✭VillaMad

Afghanistan have lost 3 wickets in a over to slide to 163/4 to 169/7. They need just 28 runs though to win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Wow very interesting. Afghanistan need 27 but 7 wickets down

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    NOB out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    190/4 and 11 overs left

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Porterfield brings up his ton with a 4. 118 balls

47 runs in 4 overs for UAE. Still a mile behind on run rate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Afghanistan lost another wicket, looking like they might lose that match now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,234 ✭✭✭VillaMad

Another wicket down for Afghanistan. 173/8 chasing 197. Thrilling finish there.

8 down now and the runs have dried up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Afgh 177/9 now, hard to see them pulling this one off now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,970 ✭✭✭Deise Vu

Back after lunch (mine - it was delicious). 201/4 after 41.3 we should do it comfortably unless we lose another two wickets in consecutive overs las with Joyce and NOB. Thought it would be a lot easier though when PNG wickets were falling early.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,914 ✭✭✭Rigor Mortis

If Afghanistan lose this they are effectively gone. Even if they get through as the third team, they will go in to the Super sixes with 0 points.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,970 ✭✭✭Deise Vu

24 Runs required from last 7 overs. It would take a spectacular collapse to lose now. It would be nice get at least one 6 and kill it quickly. Ura got 6 maximums and Vanua got another in their innings.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Porterfield out for 111. Great knock
