2 gardai stopping cars in the bus lane on the N11 going into town at white cross, first time in years I have seen them there, used to be a regular thing. It has got to be a ridiculous stretch, 2 buses were stuck behind the row of cars in the lane, then others spotting the gardai trying to escape back into the other traffic.

Then saw a hearse breaking a red after about 2-3 seconds of being red (and a long amber) at leopardstown luas bridge. At least it was empty, might be out drumming up business.

Cyclist down at Grand Parade earlier. Car turning left down canal may have hit her at bridge as she moved straight ahead. Possibly. Hopefully she’ll recover ok.

There is often a queue of 35 or 40 cars along there, you see there front wheels twitching, wondering whether to jump in from the junction before, then once one passes, they all move in, then the buses have to move out to go round them. The cars still pull in even when the garda are standing in the bus lanes, it is astounding how oblivious some are.

Very off topic, but has anyone who cycles through Rathmines road ever noticed that buses never fully use the bus stop going inbound outside Swan leisure centre? They always seem to just stop in the bus lane, so then bikes have to merge with cars in the main traffic lane. It's odd & I just don't get why they seem to always do it there.

Bus lane = car and van lane

Use the layby, get trapped in by cars using the bus lane they shouldnt be. Don't use the layby, maintain your space to progress. The bus drivers aren't stupid.

    AGS Rathmines are though.

Does anyone own, or has anyone ever used, a PRO Bike Travel Case?

I'm looking to rent a bike box for a week in April. My lbs has one of these available to rent. It's a reinforced bag, not a box but the lbs reckon it's great (they are fairly sound guys). This review of it makes me a bit nervous.

Would you use a beanie as a helmet?

Wasn't aware of this fellas adventure. He's riding from Ciaro to Capetown and is in Tanzania at the minute.

He was in the local paper this week posing for a selfie with a local in a Louth GAA jersey, the local man had no English so wasn't able to find out how a Tanzanian man came by a Louth Jersey.

I thought it may have been me but it’s much more recent than the early 2000’s.

Have been following his progress after I met him last year in Kerry(was staying in his family’s B&B). It’s an epic trip and makes me very jealous. He cycles across America a few years ago.

Couldn't say, GAA is not an interest of mine. But my Dad is sure to know when/if he's round later.

Mc Cabe sponsor on it which I don't think is the current sponsor.

i know a chap who runs a cargo company who has been known on occasion to get donations of batches of unsold GAA jerseys with the old sponsors, etc. on them; some of them end up going out to africa, something to do with a charity said chap helps out with.

No UCI-ranked Ras. But they're still looking at running a scaled down version.
However Dignam stresses that it is premature to say that no event will be held this year. “There may be an option there for a three or four day race to be run by a separate organisation committee,” she explains. “It would be a smaller, non-UCI race. Those discussions will be held in the coming weeks.

Why GAA jerseys are the height of African fashion

    Crying shame :(

I'm ignorant to what kind of money it takes to run the rás and the logistics of it, what would they be looking at trying to raise? I'd imagine it was a case of them trying to do more than just secure the race for this year and trying to get it security for a few years at least.

I think I read somewhere it was in the 300-350K range, not loose change by any means.

My bike has taken a complete back seat in recent weeks, I just don't have the time to get out on it with all the training I'm doing. At this stage of camp it's 6/7 days a week and 3 of those I have 2 sessions in the day.

Tomorrow I have an actual day off training and I'm heading out for 'active rest' on the bike. So lots of coffee stops will be in order :pac: Really looking forward to it and I swear to jaysis if it rains tomorrow I'm emigrating

I'll get right on it and new Specialised Tarmacs for all on here while I'm at it and no you can't pick a colour, you'll take what you're given :pac:

I'd struggle to blow a million on stuff I'd like to have outside of a nicely kitted out house and bikes, to hell with the location . I'd love to travel the 5 'stans' , the silk road and the wilderness in Russia.
