Details now coming out for the UK system for medicinal cannabis and it is way more restrictive than ours.

For epilepsy, no THC products are allowed. For nausea only if other treatments have failed and it's not recommended for chronic pain. In all cases only pharma grade can be used .

More than one Government should be held accountable for the needless deaths and illnesses suffered by many.

Kleefarr we been through this before. Cancer is easy enough kill in the lab.

Cannabinoids have performed badly in pre-clinical studies when compared to other drugs. Virtually impossible to achieve a therapeutic dose, generally speaking. GW pharma have some actual clinical trials on the go but don't think results have been released yet.

On a side note, has there been a break down in the relationship between Vera and Gino due to her support for Peter Casey?

The reasons for the delay in the access program is they can't find a supplier of a good quality product.

The Dutch are not allowed export their Bedrocan and i've read that the Canadians are struggling to supply their own.

There is an opening for farmers here to start growing it large scale

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,117 ✭✭✭✭Water John

The specific medicinal market is specialised and small. Unless it's decriminalised, farm scale will not happen here.

With the enthusiasm that Irish farmers seem to have for spraying chemicals, it's not stuff I'd want to be consuming tbh. I'd rather self-medicate with some clean grown stuff.

David Robert Grimes will be one Primetime tonight (9.35) discussing the facts and fictions of medicinal cannabis claims for anyone that may be interested.

Tis gas to hear of our overlords traveling to Holland to find a supplier for medicinal cannibis. Wonder how many growers that plane passed over before it left the island

The Dutch don't allow the export of the medicinal oil (Bendrocan).

hmmm... you are giving me ideas.... any cuttings?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,038 ✭✭✭rapul

We should all be allowed say 2 plants for personal use, take out the criminals making money from selling it anyway and think of all the people it will benefit in they're own home, no hospitals hopefully necessary, might sort out the fecking hospital crisis as well in a way as in less people going in with illnesses that can be treated or at least helped ease

Think there is only about 4 kids in the whole country that have Dravets and most of them already get medical marijuana. It pretty poor for pain relief and nausea and i imagine MS is pretty rare too. You're deluded if you think weed could solve the trolley crisis or have any meaningful benefit to the health service.

What did ye think of Gino's performance on Primetime last night?

Oh u must know these 4 kids do you? Not being bad but I'd say your well off there, loads of people would benefit from the pain relief, I myself have had a bad back for a long time tried everything and I mean everything, but nothing calms it down like cannabis, and no I think you are deluded it won't solve the trolley crisis but would definitely help but then again maybe your a doctor and know more than I including how many sick children in the country would benefit from medicinal cannabis

I know what the available research says and it doesn't support your view.

do you define 6000 as very rare? It is a significant number of people.

Many folk get relief quietly and without shouting.

Many with M.E as well as MS.

    Who number many many thousands.

In the context of "solving the hospital crisis", yes.

Exaggerating the possible benefits is not doing the pro medicinal cannabis lobby any favors. Easy to make bullsh*t claims on social media but as Gino found out last night at some stage it will bite you in the ass.

He thinks it works for him and he might be right, which is great for him but not sufficient evidence to be recognized as medicine and be approved by the HPRA.

It's legal status has noting to do with the HPRA.

Not exaggerating stating what I know and you have been proven wrong on how many people might benefit

I think he was referring to the numbers with MS as you wrongly said it is rare?

It's being disingenious of the panellist last night saying it was available, just get a consultant to sign for it.
jh79 don't be making inaccurate claims, like saying MS is rare. I know 4 people in my acquaintances.
Tell Noreen O'Neill it's though on your son Michael but CBD Oil is of no help to him

Watch TABU on TG4 tonight at 9.30pm

BTW Gino doesn't represent the pro medicinal use of cannibas people and don't portray him as such.
