Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Free thought and expression... I take it you're against the proposed hate speech laws then?

Hate speech generally does not involve thought, free or otherwise. People who express hate tend to be racist and it's easy to highlight the flaws in their arguments and the ignorance of their stance anyway, so I'd have no problem with said laws.

Then they start whining that they can't express themselves and it's someone else's fault. Question then is; why didn't they learn how to do it?

The only way I'd oppose it is when they propose or use violence.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Yes. Democracy such as it was has all but died. Now we're practically China. There is only one party to choose from- and they're only getting started on the slippery slope.

Not even close to being China. You really should spend some time here before making such a statement.

Ireland has issues with it's political system. All mature democracies do... but it's not a totalitarian police state by any measure. Anyway, China only claims to be socialist. It's not. It's not even marxist or communist anymore. It's something else that hasn't been classified yet.
No-one will admit we're sliding into chaos. Until long after the fact has become blatantly obvious. Actually we're already there as far as I'm concerned.

Plenty of people are aware of the problems, but you're exaggerating. Another decade or two of the same crap as now, and I might agree with you. Unlikely, but it's possible i might.
Don't get me wrong. It's the indigenous Irish that I'm more prejudiced against than any other group. I'm one of them so there you go. I think we Irish left on this island are in general indeed a bit thick. And a little bit evil too. I think it's a choice more than anything else. We choose to be thick and evil.

There's a saying that traders have- "Don't believe anything until it's been officially denied."

Well, thank you for the unintended compliment! I didn't realise I was better than other Irish people because I live abroad. That's awesome. Completely retarded an idea, but awesome all the same.

Nah. I don't buy it. Ireland and Irish people are evolving, trying new things and repeating a lot of older mistakes. It's normal, and I have hope that Irish people will seek to balance both the society and political systems. So much has changed in Ireland since I was born, and a crap-ton of that has been positive. I suspect you need to get out of Ireland for a few years, and gain some perspective.

Full disclosure.... I was banned off that thread. A few lessons learned, but this subject probably needs it's own thread anyway. Ireland is entering a kind of Dark Age where:

    Abortion on demand is OK
Teaching children about masturbation is OK
People are being imprisoned for non payment of VAT while pedophiles get off free.
Lying is acceptable (if you're of the "liberal" persuasion.)
Speaking about mass immigration is "racist"
Speaking about the origins of new violent trends is "racist"
Thinking there are only two genders is some kind of crazy idea.
Free speech is "racist" "bigoted" etc.

Like the title says above, it's as if Satan is running the show here. There's a kind of evil in the air. It seems to be contained in Marxism. It doesn't matter what you call it really but it has the following characteristics:
    • Unaccountable Political control.
    • Centrally controlled monetary policy based on debt and infinite inflation.
    • Housing "crisis" alongside empty houses (akin to suspending gravity)
    • Laws being drafted by private elite entities and new global government organisations/ NGOs (UN, NATO, EU, Open Society (George Soros and the remaining Koch Brother) and passed without consultation.
    • Referenda being re-run when the usual suspects don't get their way.
    • New "Hate Speech" Laws (which only promote hate by suppressing dialogue).

Ireland is going to hell in a handbasket and very few seem to care. The same scenario is being played out in the US, South Africa, Sweden, France, Germany, Venezuela, Chile.

People talk a lot about things they know nothing about. It's as if we've forgotten history yet again. A fertile ground for evil.

OP your post has 16 thanks including mine and the next post mocking it has 79.

It's funny how how rants like that in the OP decide that evil is to be found in (a) areas of personal morality and (b) aspects of politics that they don't like. It's telling, I think that he doesn't mention things like child slavery, mass murder, religious intolerance, grinding poverty, disease and hunger. They don't seem to be worth getting your knicker's in a knot about, apparently, but what age kids start jerking off at, yup, that's the work of Satan, alright.

I could go on to write a long answer to the nonsense in the OP, but it's not worth the trouble and a would have as much effect, I suspect, as bullets hitting Superman, so I'll just suggest that the OP really should cop himself on and get some smidgen of perspective on what "evil" really involves. Some leads to put into Google that might be helpful:
    • Fred and Rose West
    • Peter Sutcliffe
    • Pol Pot
    • Joseph Stalin
    • The Holocaust
    • The Ku Klux Klan
    • Islamic State
    • Ted Bundy
    • John Wayne Gacey

Read about that lot, and then see if you think that a re-run of a referendum still qualifies as evidence of evil.

I'd add another line, but it would only earn me a ban and a deleted post.

    Yes I did.

People who do not hold the correct political views get banned from online platforms.

Applying for a job you can be sure your social media is checked.

New hate speech legislation and police will be investigating non crimes.

Media is just a mouthpiece of the elites.

Like I said we have a long way to go be we are on the same course as China.
