Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If you were born in 1987 you weren't a teenager in the 90s.
Now maybe you were born in the last 20 days of December 1986, which would make you "a teenager in the 90s" as you asserted for all of at most twenty days.

Don't complain about people getting the wrong impression if you write nonsense.

You wrote about a time when people you deem ugly had "zero confidence" and compared it unfavourably to today. If that's not an appeal to a mythical "good old days" (as well as a sickening endorsement of bullying) then I don't know what is. Also a small proportion of complete fcukwits on twitter or instagram are not representative of society.

You're not wrong there and threads like these are the proof.

So what? How does that affect your life in any way?

I can conceive of little more narcissitic than the idea expressed in threads like this that everyone must look like me, think like me, be the same sexual orientation or religion as me, have the same ethnic origin as me, have the same ideas in relation to gender and gender roles as me.

all you have done here is prove that you are deluded yourself.
you have deluded yourself into thinking that you write well on boards, that people respect what you write and that you think you've "won" the argument by trying to cut down my post.

you are deluded into thinking you are the only one who is right.
i turned 13 in 1999 as it happens, so yes i was a teenager.

the issue here is people who are deluded , always think they are right, or hot, or the best or whatever it is they are deluded about.
in your case, my own opinion from reading your posts is that your delusion is that you believe that your opinions are the only correct ones, that you are "better" , at least "better at boards" - wow, what an achievement.

listen, you can try and dismantle and rebuild my posts to suit whatever agenda it is you have, but tbh, i dont care. you've proven to be just another one of the mindless deluded phone-staring space-heads

btw - what the hell was your original reply? totally needlessly angry and venomous. maybe i touched a nerve with the ugly comment. sorry!

you obviously picked up on my post from the "victim" point of view and read it the wrong way - because nowhere did i say anything about "ugly in my view" as you put it. i dont think anyone is "ugly" i was just using that word to simplify my point to people like you who obviously cant understand basic written english.

    good day to you

or you, or anyone - that's my point.

i dont see why you are attempting to argue that point
the only reason someone would argue it or try to nonsense it is because they must be feeling victimised by what i had said - thus, proving the point im making about people who are too self centred to even take on board a different opinion.

the very first thing you and hotblack despatio both did when you joined the thread was to cut through peoples harmless inoffensive posts to try and start a needless argument - all based on your own internal monologue of delusion - ie; you're thinking must be along the lines of "im always right, i'm on a high horse here and i'm going to try and make it obvious to everyone else"

when - that is wrong. you are NOT right, you merely have your own opinion - actually do you? or are you just here to try and troll ?

the simple point i am trying to make is that people these days (not just "Young people" as depatio was trying to claim, but ALL people) have become absolute witless, gormless, self centred people because of social media, and that this has nothing to do with "evil" - although both of you arguing for no reason seems like it may have a little bit of diviliment there alright...

just get over yourselves is what i say to these people. look in the mirror - like, REALLY look at yourself.

It turns out to be Darwinian selection. Down through history- don't follow God, then you don't get to pass on your genes.

Don't shoot the messenger- I'm just quoting scientific researchers such as Michael Woodley and Edward Dutton. It makes sense too if you think about it. And we can see the results of deviating from that, reading from the list above which isn't exhaustive by any means.

That's nice but you completely missed the point of my post. You complained about people having inflated belief in their own opinions but failed to recognise the contradiction in having an absolute belief in your own opinion. Are you not guilty of doing exactly what you accuse everyone else of doing? You go so far as to assume you know what other people "internal monologues" are without them even expressing them and what motivates them to do stuff based solely on a few lines of text on a message board, or (presumably) your observations of them on the street. You decry people always thinking they're right but then wonder why anyone would disagree with you without the slightest hint of irony.

Not on the social media so I think I'm alright there. Don't generally look in mirrors either though cause vanity is not one of my vices.

Just look at them with their Degrees and PHDs, and their 'facts' 'research' and 'data'
Scientific research and data is a product of 'White Power' obviously..what else could it be?

i dont think what you are seeing is "evil" as such, but i definitely agree that people have somewhat changed, and irish society is becoming a lot colder and meaner.

i dont think it's based on people being more "evil" though, i think a lot of it has to do with people becoming really really stupid and self centred in the last decade or so since social media has become more insidious.

all i see on the streets of dublin every day are people with their heads down looking into their black screens. it's madness.

the world unfortunately has become a pit of narcissism and vanity, and people are going around the place genuinely believing that they are "the best" or better than everyone else.

this can be demonstrated by the fact that when i was a teenager in the 90s, the ugly kids, fat kids, kids with acne, kids with horrible personalities - they all had zero confidence. nowadays, people have become so vain and self-absorbed that even the ugliest sinner thinks they are some sort of gorgeous celebrity.

that to me is proof of the selfishness of modern people, and i think it's mainly due to the nature of social media and the influence that it all has on peoples psyche these days.

it appears "evil" but it's just really dumb. the dumbing down of society.

Bull****. Ireland was a lot colder and meaner the further you go back. Whether controlled by the English or the church.

We inherited a lot of the worst of English culture like the heavy drinking and **** food which has a knock on effect of dumbing people down and causing mental illness.

The amount of bullying and **** that went on when I was a kid in the 80's was crazy. People were dumb ****ing dickheads then.

Our society has always been pretty dumb, as are most societies. How that manifests itself has changed. That's all.

For less than a year, yes... so really you were a teen in the 00s. So no need to get upset when a poster thinks you're ten years older than you are, based on the misleading information you supplied.

I really don't know what brought on the rest of your post, more of a rant really but bears no relation to anything I wrote.

In the 70s and 80s violence was just normal. Parents whacked kids (luckily mine didn't), teachers whacked kids, kids whacked kids and why wouldn't they with the example they were getting from the adults?

Anyone who stood out or was different in any way was as liable to be slagged off constantly by the teacher as they were by the other kids

    Most kids hated school

TBF, you can be a swell high scoring academic and have no clue of your own. He might be great at citing others and explaining what they were about but his conclusions might be a tad whack-a-doodle.

Placing one 'race' above another and citing genetic differences would be the very definition of racism IMO.

Regular, full-time workers are treated like flaming garbage by this government. Everything will be taken from you, and everything will be given to others. They deserve to be in prison for this. Yet they thump their chests with pride about how good we supposedly have it. For all except the people who work and are just trying to put food on their table.

    It's a complete disgrace.

There's a petition to have Judge Martin Nolan fired. Nolan has been ruling for pedophiles and against ordinary decent people. He's what I would describe as a [****** ***** *********** *****]

    https://www.change.org/p/minister-for-justice-judge-martin-nolan-resignation

Here's a case where he acquitted a manslaughter case: https://www.thesun.ie/news/4775335/mum-fury-judge-acquitted-man-punching-partner-death/

Here's an article from the Journal (I'm also banned by the Snowflake Gestapo from commenting there.) https://www.thejournal.ie/2000-signatures-on-petition-calling-for-judge-to-resign-1178460-Nov2013/

This is the second petition in 5 years calling for this [person] to be fired.
    https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/courts/judge-is-no-stranger-to-controversy-30197046.html

And that's just the start of it. Some poor judge is whinging that the public shouldn't be allowed to interfere in the judicial process. Sorry judge but when you won't do your job, others have to do it for you.

Well, the government brought in a law that prevents me from pursuing my college degree that I worked my nads off for.

House prices are pegged to the global financial system so if you buy property you are enslaving yourself and possibly your chilldren for the rest of your working life.

And now they want to bring in hate speech laws so we can't tell bankers what a bunch of w****rs they are (not all, obviously but a lot)

More homelessness than ever, and the country is disappearing into a politically correct (for now) abyss. I shouldn't worry, political correctness is transforming into violence both state and non state mandated. And you think you're immune..

I could go on. But listen, I'm delighted things are working out for you. For now.

Let the bodies of the poor rot in the street! and if the rich get cholera, then... oh well. Guess libertarianism doesn't really work after all. *shrug*

You may or may not find the following funny:
I was shooting heroin and reading “The Fountainhead” in the front seat of my privately owned police cruiser when a call came in. I put a quarter in the radio to activate it. It was the chief.

“Bad news, detective. We got a situation.”

“What? Is the mayor trying to ban trans fats again?”

“Worse. Somebody just stole four hundred and forty-seven million dollars’ worth of bitcoins.”

The heroin needle practically fell out of my arm. “What kind of monster would do something like that? Bitcoins are the ultimate currency: virtual, anonymous, stateless. They represent true economic freedom, not subject to arbitrary manipulation by any government. Do we have any leads?”

“Not yet. But mark my words: we’re going to figure out who did this and we’re going to take them down … provided someone pays us a fair market rate to do so.”

“Easy, chief,” I said. “Any rate the market offers is, by definition, fair.”

He laughed. “That’s why you’re the best I got, Lisowski. Now you get out there and find those bitcoins.”

    “Don’t worry,” I said. “I’m on it.”

I put a quarter in the siren. Ten minutes later, I was on the scene. It was a normal office building, strangled on all sides by public sidewalks. I hopped over them and went inside.

“Home Depot™ Presents the Police!®” I said, flashing my badge and my gun and a small picture of Ron Paul. “Nobody move unless you want to!” They didn’t.

“Now, which one of you punks is going to pay me to investigate this crime?” No one spoke up.

“Come on,” I said. “Don’t you all understand that the protection of private property is the foundation of all personal liberty?”

It didn’t seem like they did.

“Seriously, guys. Without a strong economic motivator, I’m just going to stand here and not solve this case. Cash is fine, but I prefer being paid in gold bullion or autographed Penn Jillette posters.”

Nothing. These people were stonewalling me. It almost seemed like they didn’t care that a fortune in computer money invented to buy drugs was missing.

I figured I could wait them out. I lit several cigarettes indoors. A pregnant lady coughed, and I told her that secondhand smoke is a myth. Just then, a man in glasses made a break for it.

“Subway™ Eat Fresh and Freeze, Scumbag!®” I yelled.

Too late. He was already out the front door. I went after him.

“Stop right there!” I yelled as I ran. He was faster than me because I always try to avoid stepping on public sidewalks. Our country needs a private-sidewalk voucher system, but, thanks to the incestuous interplay between our corrupt federal government and the public-sidewalk lobby, it will never happen.

I was losing him. “Listen, I’ll pay you to stop!” I yelled. “What would you consider an appropriate price point for stopping? I’ll offer you a thirteenth of an ounce of gold and a gently worn ‘Bob Barr ‘08’ extra-large long-sleeved men’s T-shirt!”

He turned. In his hand was a revolver that the Constitution said he had every right to own. He fired at me and missed. I pulled my own gun, put a quarter in it, and fired back. The bullet lodged in a U.S.P.S. mailbox less than a foot from his head. I shot the mailbox again, on purpose.

“All right, all right!” the man yelled, throwing down his weapon. “I give up, cop! I confess: I took the bitcoins.”

“Why’d you do it?” I asked, as I slapped a pair of Oikos™ Greek Yogurt Presents Handcuffs® on the guy.

    “Because I was afraid.”

    “Afraid?”

“Afraid of an economic future free from the pernicious meddling of central bankers,” he said. “I’m a central banker.”

I wanted to coldcock the guy. Years ago, a central banker killed my partner. Instead, I shook my head.

“Let this be a message to all your central-banker friends out on the street,” I said. “No matter how many bitcoins you steal, you’ll never take away the dream of an open society based on the principles of personal and economic freedom.”

He nodded, because he knew I was right. Then he swiped his credit card to pay me for arresting him.

A major part of Ireland's journey from the poorest country in Europe to among the richest has been state funded third level education (even at a user fee of €3000 a year, it's mostly state funded.)

We've gone from being renowned as "thick paddies" to having one of the best educated workforces on the planet. We've unlocked the potential of a huge swathe of society when it used to be only the children of the elite who had these opportunities.

Who knows, with further investment in DEIS schools and third level access programmes we can help another swathe of society make richer lives for themselves and contribute more to society?

But nah. Taxes bad. Great if you are one of the landed aristocracy, are you by any chance?

Yes that is funny. I like the way it's written, even if I disagree with the completely anticapitalist stance. I'm not entirely sure whether the writer is pro or against bitcoin. Personally I'm pro, but I don't argue with "non-believers"

I suppose I'm a minarchist in that I think the State can justify a certain level of existence, but it should compete in the free market along with other providers. People should be free to buy from the State or whoever they want to.

The only thing that can't be free market is the justice system because the law has to apply to everyone. There is room for private security however, but that's already a normality in certain ways.

With regard to services- Roads, water etc. These are already mostly privately provided, except they're waaaaaaaaaaay more expensive through the State than they would be through properly privately run contracts. Over half the money that goes into public procurement is stolen or wasted, probably up to 60 or 70%. I've been involved in the construction industry 25 years and I speak to people who aren't afraid to talk. When we are happy to pay taxes we're supporting theft and other crimes. I'd be happy to pay some taxes if I knew it wasn't going to pay for things that are immoral and destructive.

The State has contracted out most of the water services you might have noticed. I was against the water charges not because I believe in not paying for it (There's no such thing as not paying for stuff.) but because the guv just don't know when to stop their BS. I had to hang around with some people whos political views I utterly despise but I did it for a while.

There is a difference between the government contracting out projects and a private company building everything themselves.

As I said in another thread today private companies exist to create profit and reward shareholders. They would only build roads or water systems in areas they could turn big profit. Vast areas of the country would become third world in nature.

Free market is pure pie in the sky stuff. A world where corporations have free reign over everything would be a complete disaster.

    Which law is this then?

So don't buy. You're not entitled to buying a house.

I'd agree with you on most of these, but how is it stopping you from doing ok? Doesn't stop everyone else.

Princess, nice to hear from you. Always a pleasure.

    1. The Building Control Bill 2007 which was supposed to make buildings safer but in effect just kept the same dodgy building scam going and created monopolies for certain industries while screwing the ordinary person even more than previously. I won't go into too much more detail for professional reasons.

    2. I didn't buy. I'm not into self-enslavement like the poor sods who haven't time to raise their kids because everyone is effectively working their arses off for the banks- with kickbacks for the political class and their cronies. I'd rather be poor than enslaved. I solved the latter problem.

I agree I'm not entitled to a house. No-one is.

    3. Everyone else is doing OK?... I know it's a shocker but there are some Irish folk living in the street. I hope I haven't upset you now.

Having said that I'm not whinging. My situation is my own problem, nobody else's. Not even.......... The State.

QED as you say yourself. :)

Yes, you know I think Ireland needs to go full socialist to experience how that feels. It'll take 50 - 100 years to snap out of it but at least for a couple more generations after they'll probably resist the temptation to go back.

What do you propose and are there already examples of it working on planet earth? I'm dying to know.

Wow, we're very concerned about me. Yes I'm involved in the Construction industry and I teach kids and professionals alike. Shock horror. Imagine doing two things at the same time. I know in the Marxist universe that's heavily discouraged. I'm afraid that's all the info you get though. ;)

Tell me a bit about yourself... I don't want to take over proceedings.

But if you're a teacher and heavily involved in the construction industry, you must be doing alright. Like, not much to complain about.

Actually I'd like an answer to my question, what construction related topics are you teaching primary kids?

As for me building a new sofa for a friend at the moment.

I'm kept busy, but we're talking about the construction and education sectors- Corrupted and monopolised. It's taken some time to realise that Ireland just isn't going forwards- not a place for innovation, despite our big tech and pharma industries. A lot more industry needs to be home grown to have a stable long term economy. That will become painfully clear at some point.

I won't be a victim though. It's my responsibility to deal with these issues.

I'm going to keep that to myself I'm afraid. There are some real nutters out there. Met four of them in Kildare Street at the free speech event a few weeks ago. Actual real life Nazis with all the skinhead docks and everything. They proposed to kick the **** out of me and my buddy. We proposed that they could try if they wanted but it wouldn't work out well. They eventually saw things our way.

So, no I'm not telling you anything else. You never know who's watching. ;)

In which case the point you raised is irrelevant.

There's a saying: those who achieve find ways. Those who don't find excuses. And you are nothign more than a long, long line of excuses.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

If you’re actually concerned about your privacy, it’s a bit strange you use your own name and provide enough information to allow anyone to mosey over to your LinkedIn page and Facebook account. Including those notional nazi skinheads, who can google like everyone else.

Yep from your OP to this one. You're contradicting yourself while also showing that you really don't know what your talking about, it's pretty entertaining to be honest.
