Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I had a shallow-fried chicken fillet and some delish multi-grain brown bread. Very much a "what do I have in the house" job today.

I'm having salad: iceberg, tomatoes, cucumber, mozzarella, red onion and black olives with balsamic dressing.
I've become slightly addicted to mozzarella.

Probably with a ryvita cracker with cashew nut butter for dessert :D

I HOPED to have the leftovers of the last night's mushroom risotto, but there are never leftovers in our house, no matter how much I make. My boyfriend just loves home-cookin'!

Instead I had cheese and crackers with grapes, followed by yoghurt and granola.

What's the difference in taste between a duck egg and a hen's egg?

I would like to know this too! I've never had a duck egg and someone gave us a half dozen from his own ducks today but I'm not sure what's the best way to eat them!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,798 ✭✭✭✭The Hill Billy

I get duck eggs occasionally & love them boiled just like a regular hen's egg.
    They're also great for baking.

get some everyweek, they are a little stronger tasting than hens eggs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,736 ✭✭✭✭kylith

Duck eggs have a much richer taste than hen eggs. The yolk is oranger and when they're boiled the white has a denser texture than hen eggs.

I don't find them great for frying, but they're amazing boiled or scrambled.

Tell ye what: if ye buy a half dozen and try one and don't like it I'll take the other 5 off your hands, no problem :D

Either famine or feast, eh? :p

I had some Ryvita with cheese and the nicest cup of tea I've had in ages. Simple, but did the job.

I normally bring stuff from home, but yesterday I hadn't time so I got a crummy Super Valu roll - Butter, mayo, salad, cold chicken (they hadnt hot) and coleslaw.

Today I'm having homemade roasted pepper soup with brown bread and a ham salad to follow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,736 ✭✭✭✭kylith

I'm trying to decide between the chicken salad I brought from home (it'll be yummy but won't fill me up) or a yummy, filling tuna melt from O'Briens.

I think I'm leaning toward O'Briens. I'll leave the salad in the fridge and bring some bread and dressing tomorrow and it'll make a better lunch then.

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 10,661 ✭✭✭✭John Mason

homemade bread and cheese boring but delicious:)
