Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Great.... can't wait for it to open now. I just hope we don't get locked out for a couple of days because the servers keel over and die on the 18th.

Lads can someone tell me the point of early access?

Surely it's worthless to anyone who won't be buying packs?. Even if you get your starter pack online you'd hardly be able to build up anything trading one pack?.

You get gold packs for having played before and a daily reward which can be coins, bid tokens etc. You can easily build up a team over the few days so that when the game comes out you have something to work with. It wont be the best team in the world but its good craic getting it ready in advance and doing a bit of trading.

Point of early access to FUT via web app:

    1. OMG it's so much fun.
    2. You can discard/trade away all your ****ty bronze players and trade like a pro to have a decent team ready to go when the game drops. Last year I had a non-shiny Premier League team ready for the launch.
    3. Daily rewards like coins, packs and the bane of my existence... Bid tokens.
    4. A chance for Sabre0001 to spam the forum with "Daily reward opening" videos in his attempt to earn YouTube moneyyyyy.
    5. A chance to grab absolute bargains before players become priced out of reach when all the kids in school get the game.
    6. Chance to make a nice bit of coin to start off with.
    7. Formation cards etc. are not at stupid prices yet.
    8. OMFG It's so much fun.

I knew about the gold packs alright.

The daily reward I did not know about though. I assume that ends when the full game comes out. And is just a way of keeping interest in the app until launch?.

I was going to buy the Ultimate Edition this year.
But after a rethink yesterday I think I'll keep my extra E10.
Playing from March I traded my way to a serious club. Had tonnes of IF's.... never got anything out of packs.
I'll be doing that again this year so don't think I'll bother coughing up an extra E10 for one pack a week.

    March? You're doing it wrong!

Seriously though, the start is always the most fun part for me.

Just reading the first few pages of the "Fifa Ultimate team 12 web app released!" thread and remembering how we were all scrapping to build a decent team of players we like with hardly two coins coins to rub together between us all....love it.

You presume correctly about the daily rewards.

Just on the "Ultimate Edition", is it absolutely concrete that it's going to cost €10 more than standard edition? Last year I went down to Gamestop on release day and said I had prebooked, they just said "Standard or Ultimate?" and I said Ultimate as it cost no more.

I reckon HMV is where I'll be buying this year, they have been rocking a €47.99 launch day price for most titles this year. If the Ultimate Edition is €10 more than I'll pass, as you said, you tend to get **** all in the packs, but if it's the same price, I'll take the extra 24 packs.

Ultimate Edition will likely be €5 more. HMV have it £5 more and Gamestop €5

I hope they fixed the advantage on off sides thing. It was so frustrating last year when. the opposition was offside and your defense got the ball back or the goalkeeper caught it. The game would make you that a free kick and stop the game.

Anybody know it that has been addressed?

God ya that was annoying, dont think its fixed but not sure.
What annoys me is, when you play a ball over opposition defence and your player is offside buy yet keeps running for the ball and the ref blows whistle, surely there should be some way of changing player so he stops trying to get in to the play(when hes clearly offside)

If your controlling him im pretty sure hold L2 + R2 makes him stop chasing it

and even when they blow up for offside you can't take a quick free kick out. They show make you watch the stupid offside line animation every time. while all that time you could be making a fast break.

You don't get any advantage. it's bull****

also when theirs about a minute delay when the ref blows the whistle for the offside
id be running half way down the pitch just after the player gets the ball, he runs for about a good minute then bam its offside
major pissed me off in some games
think its fixed now though, they seem to blow it straight away in demo

Pre-ordered this instore in Gamestop earlier.
Anybody tell me what I get?
Ordering online seems to get no t-shirt, while instore has a tshirt? Just wondering what the story is and forgot to ask.

I read something that you get FUT13 a week early if you have the season ticket but you just can't spend microsoft points? I had the season ticket last year and you got it 3 days before the release and no UT. Is this confirmed?

  • Registered Users Posts: 526 ✭✭✭ManOnFire

have been playing the demo quite a bit today and i love it, the pace of the game is spot on i think in how the way your defenders can recover and not be blitzed with pace like on 12. the only player that seems to be over powered is Walcott, just runs away from everyone

You get it a week to ten days early regardless, on the web app

Just scored a goal from a good way out, defender was in the keepers way, anyone know if that affected it, or it could be that I'm playing on amateur.

Also something else I've noticed which I love, is when you chip the keeper, your player kinda stands still/hovers a spot and peeps around to see if its going in.

Has anyone else been booked for moving the wall forward in the Demo?

I was messing around pressing buttons when the computer had a free kick and the wall started inching forward. Kept doing it and the ref whistled and booked one of my players.
Think it was LB i pressed.

I hate the computer in FIFA since the last one. I'm sick of them always turning away from me, just chasing the ball. Its not fun.

Playing on amateur during the demo however is. I can score goals for fun and try out all the tricks and stuff.

I won't be playing 13 offline, unless its against a friend. Its stupid boring IMO. As well as frustrating as hell. **** that.

I don't see how someone who isn't playing FIFA for the first time could enjoy Amateur.

I think you will find on Pro difficulty the CPU is crap, but the goalies are not random fans selected from the crowd and asked to do a job in nets the way they are on Amateur. You may aswell be playing in the arena, except the keeper might save a shot there!

I play on World Class when I play CPU because you learn not to allow the space to turn away from you, it makes your defending much better, and the CPU on the FIFA 13 Demo has been scoring goals against me that leaving me saying "... That was brilliant." Your cheating yourself man!

Just the shooting and passing, the demo is so short that there really isn't much time to enjoy it, so I just **** about.

I'll give it a go. But in the previous game it drove me up the wall, I got so sick of chasing them as they just kept turning. It isn't the defending part, its when they're at the half way line.

That said, I'll give the harder difficulties a go. If I smash a controller, its on you Mikey.:)

I can't wait to get started on my Vitural pro and play with the boards.ie online Pro Clubs Team. Last year I played for "RedCafe Newbies" A team made up of Manchester United fans. We were very successful winning over 24 cups in the season.

Midfield was my position. I played in the Xabi Alonso role. Creating chances going forward but also holding in defence off the ball

Had a game of this earlier on 2 player, man there is some difference from fifa 12! Absolute great laugh! The pace and skill is just perfect. Gonna have some great online games with this.

Question for the seasoned FIFA vets on here.

I'm wondering is there anyway to effectively use a target man in Fifa 13 i.e. to lump it up to your number 9 for him to knock it down to supporting players or get the ball out wide and swing in a teasing ball. I'm talking high pressure, high temp kind of play.

I wouldn't mind adapting my style of play but because of the way opposing players play the game it just end up with me giving away possession and getting dominated against teams who keep the ball on the ground.

Sometimes I find the tippy tappy passing gameplay a wee bit boring and one dimensional.

    Thanks for your time,

    Thanks for your time,

Haha Jack Charlton, welcome to boards :pac:

Try playing with Germany or Bayern and Gomez is your man there. He'll clean up in the air, for knockdowns and goals. Likewise with Ath. Bilbao and Spain with Llorente. There's plenty of teams that use the target man. You just have to find them mate.

:D Good man, So its just a matter of picking a team that has a target man with all the required stats to suit that particular style of play? Makes sense.

I'm am concerned about using the Jack Charlton approach online as I feel I will get torn apart by teams with a shall we say.........more efficient approach to the game.

    Any thoughts?

The direct aproach will work but you'll need to mix it up. The target man with 2 wingers whipping the ball on to his head to play to his strengths. I usually change the formation to have an AM playing off the big lad to mop up or get on the end of any rebounds when I play with the Germans. Ozil or Mueller are perfect in that position.

Thats exactly what I was thinking.

I'm toying with the idea of playing with 3 strikers but this will leave me very exposed at the back. I guess a week of trial and error is on the cards

As off 2012 there is no effective way of using a target man.

You can just as easily clean up from crosses if they're put into the right area(under powered to give the striker a run at it, so assisted crossing is out of the question) with anyone off decent height and strength.

When playing general long balls from defence, it's just as easy to play them to small players as touch/heading from that position is pretty much consistent across the board. I used this a lot from my wing backs.

There's also been that consistent problem from kick outs and an advanced position where the second striker always runs offside for any headers advanced forward by his team mate.
Up until 12 your second striker drifts offside a lot(if you go to cross, and turn back, the strikers will be standing offside 99% of the time meaning you can't cross an inswinger)

However with the new additions in 13, it may be a bigger advantage. Players will now try to stay onside so you can win those central long balls to head better, and with the new first touch you may be able to hold it up better if playing a long ball into his chest/feet.
This was a solid tactic in the World Cup game as when you got it in, you could shield the ball holding R2 in a way that protected it properly(they removed this after) and it was easier to take it on the chest keeping the defender behind.

Will need to see the new game online, but it's defo more of an option this year than last for certain(on what's been seen so far).

You also get free kicks for defenders climbing and coming through the back of you which is a welcome addition. Use L2 to back into defenders and with Fifa 13 I've noticed the timing of headers is is a lot more important. Cant wait to get online with this!

It only takes 5mins. Hardly a massive outlay for something you'll use for nearly a year.

And no there isn't either way. I don't think they're that much work to provide the provisions for it.

Seriously considering getting the season pass for early play of the game.

I have 1000 MS points on my account that I have had since around Christmas and the fact that you can play UT in the early release this year (and you get free packs of cards) makes it a lot more appealing compared to last year.

    Hmmm

There's no early access for PC users, seems to be just 360 and PS3. Cant find any mention of it on the EA website.
