It was coming unfortunately, never recovered from his leg break...a good solid dirt tracker who didn't get the luck he deserved.

Never really got the term dirt tracker, what's wrong with squad player? Maybe im reading a meaning that's not there but always seemed a small bit patronising.

It's a common enough term and nobody means anything nasty or derogative by it

Ah that's terrible news. I thought ROM would get another contract elsewhere.

That leaves Munster with six senior back three players signed up for next season. Liam Coombes has featured in the Pro14 this season so he will hopefully step up but perhaps Munster might go into the market.

Shame for ROM, still only 29. Might be forgotten but that 2016/2017 season he had 10 tries in 22 appearances before he broke his leg against Treviso. Would have played a major part in the latter end of that season otherwise, he was on fire, not to be sadly

Just shows how finely balanced their careers are, one injury away from it being all over

Edit: His overall strike rate is great, 21 in 70 apps

Saracens are a good team playing at home. Munster will need to be at their absolute best to beat them and the further away from that they are the greater the risk of a bit of a humbling.

Similarly this weekend - Treviso will be full strength and gunning for a win. They never gave up in the RDS and with the squad heading over and Munster's away form / attitude there is a risk of a poor result.

The timing of the VanGraan announcement could end up being more negative from an optics perspective if the next two weeks go badly. The biggest question marks I have over the Munster setup currently revolve around the coaching ticket, I think the squad is good enough to win in Europe.

Big two weeks of rugby coming up, two wins and it's new territory for most of this group of players and a replication of Leinster's 2018 season is well and truly on the cards.

Small point, but Saracens aren't playing at home. We're still unlikely to beat them though because as well as them probably being better coached, they also have a better squad than Munster

Munster's away form/attitude? We lost a couple at the start of the season but it's been fine since then no?

Draw with Exeter, beat Gloucester, Cheetahs, Zebre, Connacht, Dragons, Ospreys, Edinburgh

Lost to Castres by a point, Ulster by 7 and Scarlets by 4 - we were in with a good shout of winning those

Funnily enough they are playing Wasps on weekend after us at Rioch too

O mahony played for the A team post his injury, did he ever play with the senior panel.

Was it a case that he didn't get back to his previous level and his contract was up and he wouldn't have been offered another one?

He made one sub appearance last season and had there appearances off the bench this season, the last being against the Scarlets last month.

Everything I've read from munster and the player says on medical advice, no reason to think otherwise.

He played the full match against Scarlets, he started at 14.
I actually thought he looked zippy when he got a few balls, but unfortunately for him it seems that he was injured even though it didn't seem obvious to me.
If he could have cleared up that injury he would have been kept on I reckon.

I'm not sure he was in line for an extension. The squad is full of young wingers.

Treviso are 1 points favourites apparently. Munster could still win their match and Glasgow win theirs vs Leinster and still be behind. Balance between resting players for Saracens match and having them match ready is a tricky one

How are Treviso such strong favourites? In previous years Munster would have been favourites against them, even away from home.

In previous years, Treviso were far poorer than they are now. It's pretty simple.

Yes, 100% they are. And should they win today, they'll probably take second in their conference ahead of Ulster, Edinburgh and Scarlets. They really pushed on last season and have been bloody good this. They've only lost at home twice all season; to Leinster and Ulster when shorn of their internationals.

EDIT: They are also the last team to beat Leinster in the RDS.

Of course? They drew with both Leinster and Ulster away and have beaten teams like Scarlets and Glasgow this season.

I'd say justifiably favourites. They've already beaten Glasgow at home this season, who are ahead of Munster in the conference. They've a very decent home record this season.

in fairness, not to belittle their improved performance this season, I don't think they have faced too many first XV teams

likewise tonight it is far from Munster's first XV but it really features only 2 or 3 players who haven't featured regularly

compare that to the Leinster team last week (who could have won)

Hopefully Saracens suspend Billy V for 2 weeks following his support for Falou.

Disaster for Munster with Glasgow beating Leinster! No home semi for Munster. 3 home games now for Glasgow to win the league! Edinburgh and then probably Ulster and then probably Leinster.
