Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The speciality ice-cream chain, which is owned by Dunkin’ Brands of Dunkin Donuts fame, is set to open stores in both Ireland and Northern Ireland as it seeks to grow its presence in Europe.

Among the areas it has in mind are Dublin, Cork, Galway, Waterford/Wexford and Belfast. Initially, there will be five shops in the Republic, with three in the North.

    1. A proper four lane road to Limerick
2 A proper four lane road to Cork

They can be dual carriageways but to be four lane.

It's the only city now not properly connected.

Anyone drive from Cork/Limerick to Galway?

Politicians in Waterford are not worth a cent of their salaries..

Infrastructure brings jobs - end of.

And PLEASE do not go on about the motorway to Dublin...it isn't enough

Winterval is brilliant, city centre has never looked so good.

Lismore named Bord Failtes best small tourism town, it is an absolutely amazing place, on your doorstep, lots to be proud of in this county, who needs Killarney when you have Lismore down the road

Only if people forget it was the people who dug the country out of a hole and not the TD's.

Ps. Winterval is excellent. Well done.

good to see work starting on extension to courthouse/old fire station demolition. Think this is a substantial job and will last for well over a year.

Morris’s has applied for planning permission for a revamp of their site with new retail units. Witherspoon’s have also submitted their application. Developments like these are a good sign of the economic health of the city.

Looks like they are putting a roof terrace in as part of the planning application. This will bring some life to an important part of town and it's good to see the nightlife in general spreading out from the John Street district.

Any news on the city square redevelopment yet? Be great to get a move on with the Brasserie and all the empty stores along it looking like an eyesore at the moment.

Special designation development zone for the north quays sounds positive. Seems to be Paudie COffeys pushing it, with council demolition starting soon, has massive potential if some public funds could be put in to kick start it, office block, pedestrian bridge, something like that.

Personally can't see anything happening with the North Quays anytime soon. Dates keep getting pushed back. Was supposed to be gone 6 months ago.

It's completely inert and the rats will party on I'm sure in there

Head something on WLR at 11 that a planning app for new shopping center will be launched soon. Think it is the one discussed here before.

Noticed that WLR has the scale of the development down as 10,000 sq metres, the original plan was stated as 26,000 sq metres and 87,000 sq metres in another document that I saw so it appears it is less than half the size (or one ninth if you go by the last figure).

I know the hotel is not included anymore but hopefully this is not a severely watered down version of what we were suppose to get.

Good news either way though it must be said.

"Permission for a new retail centre for Waterford is to be sought shortly.
Newgate Properties Limited wants to develop a high-profile site at Michael Street in the city centre. The company will submit a planning application to the Council in coming weeks with the application funded by the National Asset Management Agency.
The proposed development will generate up to 250 jobs during construction and is expected to support up to 480 retail and support jobs when complete. It is envisaged that the new centre, which will also be bounded by Alexander Street, New Street and Stephen Street, will accommodate a range of retailers, primarily fashion and other specialist outlets. It will include over 10,000 square metres of gross retail floor area split over two levels, Cafes, restaurants and food retailers as well as a four-storey carpark with 385 spaces"

This development will revolutionise shopping in Waterford! Let's hope that it gets going soon & is up & running shortly!
