Floyd did not " carry" Connor

It was a real fight that Floyd won as expected but he didn't take it easy on Connor or stretch the fight out , it was a real fight for the time it lasted,

Yes Floyd is levels above Connor but he took no chances and fought that fight in the same fashion as he has against multiply world champions ,

Start reserved and cautious see what the other man has , then work out the way that give him the highest % of winning , Zero moments left to chance,

I agree with this 100%. It definitely was not a fix. Floyd without a doubt is level heads ahead in Boxing ability. He didn't give anything to Conor, and used his skill, experience and ring craft to pull away after the first few rounds.

passive aggressive stuff now that's conor's camp are not taking up his offer. Such as he needs to sort his head out

And still made a damn meal out of beating a complete novice.....

Who cares about the Floyd fight now. Mcgregor was at his peak physical fitness for it while Floyd barely trained, yet Floyd not only beat Mcgregor up he also gassed him out. Apart from the mega money he earned nothing good came from it, and seems the huge money may be a big reason for Conor downfall since.
I wonder will Conor go to Abu Dhabi?? Probably not, but if he does he better behave himself, over there he won’t get away with what he has in US. I see Bisping has commented there isn’t much hype about this fight as there is no real needle between them. And that the biggest fight the ufc can make us Khabib vs Conor 2. I think Conor has to win at least once before he gets another title shot. Let’s hope a fight is announced soon. End of the year comeback is probably best hope now, doesn’t look like he can be back for MSG.

Floyd is risk averse. Always has been. It's part of his success.

Looking forward to the rematch and the build-up. Make it four rounds.

Mayweather would win if it was MMA rules. What weapons does McGregor have? He's hardly going to get a kick KO or a tapoout.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,561 ✭✭✭JJayoo

I'm pretty sure I would win if it was MMA rules, Flyod is a tiny tiny man.

He's a BJJ brown belt, if they felt like restarting the fight after every tap he'd win the fight ten times over via submission by the end of the 5 rounds.

Sorry but what??? You think that Floyd beats McGregor in an MMA bout? Seriously?

Ah lads. Are ye really that easily trolled?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 115 ✭✭knockers84

Mayweather could have finishing that fight in two rounds if he wanted to.

McGregor would just take him to the ground in MMA and murder him.

Khabib outboxed mcgregor never mind Floyd.

McGregor had man flu going into the Mayweather fight, only for that he would have ko'd him in 1 round

Flu for mayweather , swelled foot for khabib , chest infection for mendes , poor lad can’t catch a break

And Joshua suffered a knock out the morning of the Ruiz fight. He should have never been in the ring

David haye broke his toe before klitchko, I think when this excuse culture started

Why does McGregor not fight any more? He should be fighting at least twice a year. I don't get it.

    Not true at all.

Although I'm not dying to watch Khabib at any point. I'm tuning in for Poirier's shot and how he matches up

On the feet? No he didn't, not even close.

But most of the fight took place on the ground. I assume your trolling.
Or belong in the same crew that thought Aldo was a fraud.

It's not going to have the same attention as Khabib v McGregor. But that's the casual factor. Among actual fans, people who regularly watch MMA, I'd imagine there's huge interest.

If you are actually serious, then I'd suggest watching it again yourself. I've watched the fight plenty of times. Guessing your basing your assessment on that one big overhand. The fight was more than one punch.

(before somebody gets upset, I'll preface this by saying Khabib clearly won the fight. And the ground fighting element was much more significant that the standing element  )

    Significant Strikes
    md8FMfq.png

On the feet, Conor lands 45 significant strikes. Khabib landed 25. Stats don't they the whole picture, but at almost double the strikes, Conor clearly edges the striking.
The majority of that was in round 3, the only round that Conor won. The only where Khabib didn't secure the early takedown.

Khabib didn't land any standing strikes in round 1.
Rounds 2 and 4 had very little stand up action.
Both landed only 4-6 strikes in each.

Sports fans are fickle and have short memories.

Still, Ireland's most lucratively successful boxer ever. A record likely to be never broken. Well done, Conor. Conor bless.

Ah sure I'd say Daniel Day Lewis earned more. Sure he probably had a few "real fights" in filming as well

Is money the measure of a man to you ?

They are also biased like you.
Give it up mate, mctapper is done as a top level fighter. He would be mauled twice as viciously if he fought Khabib again. He couldn’t knock out a seventy year old man fgs
Lol. Point out one thing in my post that is bias? They are simply the stats from the fight.

You hardly expect anyone to take you seriously given the level of "discussion" you bring to the forum. At least the other lads catch a few people with their trolling.

Conor is not even close to the most lucrative boxer from Ireland.
Michael Flatley is worth about twice what Conor is.

might have some pending legal worries hanging over him that could be a hindrance to scheduling a big fight 5/6 months out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,561 ✭✭✭JJayoo

He will fight Diaz again at some stage and make 10 million for the actual fight, and have a 6 month build to the fight where his whiskey/other sponsorship items will be advertised non stop.

    Happy days for the MCG

It’s khabib fight week next week maybe that’s why.
Who would have thought a few years ago that khabib would become more popular than Conor. I think Conor completely misjudged who he was taking on when he started all the derogatory Twitter wars with khabibs crew. Surprised nobody in his team were not able to reign him in a bit.

if Poirier wins would the UFC book him to defend vs McGregor? Don't think Dustin would turn down the chance at revenge and a massive payday.

From a purely financial point of view it would be the best matchup but not even gimp Dana could bluff up an excuse to justify giving MCG a title shot

Not true, there are less McGregor diehards on this thread now as more have seen the light!
