Primal is good craic. It makes a nice change to having guns. Far Cry 2 was my least favourite of the series. That Smyths price for Far Cry 5 Gold Edition though is too good to ignore.

I love the sound of finding info and interest points on your map from actually exploring the world, talking to people and looking at signs. The classic muscle cars look class, hopefully you can customise them.

Might pick this up on release haven't played a far cry game since Far Cry 4 and I need something else to play besides fortnite.

I hope it sounds better than in that video. The guns sounded very fake...

I really enjoyed them all but it's fair to say that the first one is a little bit dated looking these days. The second made some brave decisions but I didn't like how baddies respawned or how they could see you through long grass when you couldn't see them.

I'm playing the first one at the moment and it's great fun. I like the storyline, characters and location in it.

I wasn't a fan of the roadblocks in the second one. You kill the enemies at a checkpoint, then they re-appear when you visit the same one again. Still a good game.

That was the most annoying feature. It's never a good sign in an action game, that you prefer to travel by bus rather than a jeep.

Still setting wise was one of my favorite. The different environments were great, as well as the bush war backdrop.

The setting could have been executed better. The goons at the checkpoints always respawned far too quickly as well. That said, the guns and effects were excellent.

While this game looks awesome im worried about it being another Far Cry game. I loved far cry 3, never finished 4 and lasted about 6 hours in Primal so im going to wait for reviews... maybe sale.

Really looking the like of this now. Even thinking of getting it with the season pass, which I never do.

    even better

Especially when you consider the standard version of the game is 69.99 on PS Store :pac:

Had a lot of fun with 3 and Blood Dragon. Diminishing returns with 4.
See no incentive to buy this day 1, let alone pre-order.
Will wait till there's a €30 Gold/GotY edition much later in the year.
Hopefully this will be as engaging and refreshing as it appears.

I was the exact same. I remember Farcry 1 for the pc back in the day and i loved it must have replayed it 3/4 times. Didn't enjoy FC2 as much even though it did try to be different.

FC3 was a return to form for me and brilliant, back to the island/jungle setting great villain, graphics, story etc.

Something about FC4 just didn't do it for me and i'm not sure what. It looked great and played well but it felt like a reskin of FC3. i finished it but more out of a sense of completion rather than story driving me. Skipped primal altogether.

here's hoping FC5 will be another return to form

    Far Cry Arcade mode details.

Basically a portal to create maps using objects from the far cry, assassin's creed and watchdogs series. Give the map an objective like deatmatch, bounty, etc, play either single player, co-op or 12 PvP. Ubi will have created maps and will update the game with new objects. Weekly live events. Sounds class.

Also the short film Inside Eden's Gate is on Amazon Prime to stream. Supposed to be a direct Prequel to the game. Anyone actually have Prime to watch it?

I'd love to get that smyths offer but I'm gonna have to go digital as my ps4 keeps ejecting the discs.

I'm not into map editing but the details you can add are seriously impressive. Should be done epic levels made by guys who will probably do nothing but create maps.

Season pass trailer, the Vietnam I've kids class. Zombie horde with a b movie director in 7 scenarios sounds like cod zombies. The Mars one looks like it could be it's whole own game. Live events to unlock outfits, vehicles and loot. Ubi pulling out all the stops for this.

I used to do a lot of it in FC2 and 3 but it took a lot of time to get good results. Recreated a lot of old COD maps and the likes. It looks so much better now though, I might finally achieve my dream of recreating my own town and filling it with guns and explosives. :D

Marty gimme a shout if you make a place so I can try it out and shoot the **** out of it :)

I signed up for a 7 day trial with amazon prime just to watch Inside Eden's Gate, will give it a look later but seems I can't choose HD on the PS4 app. Anyone else use it?

    Link for anyone interested.

Unfortunately KC Deliverance is next on my wish list so it might be a while but I will of course let you know when you can demolish my lovely town.

Kingdom Come is brilliant! Giving it a slight break until the next patch to add save on exit and fix lockpicking (make easier) but looking forward to going back. Need to have it finished hopefully by the time FC 5 comes out.

Watched the Amazon short and it was pretty good for what it was. Introduced the setting well imo and
sets up why the player character is sent to stop the cultists.

Worth a watch if you have prime.

I've just got herself to cancel the Amazon order, its working out at about €70 delivered via Parcel Motel compared to €65 with Smyths click and collect and I'll get it on the day, was a no brainer really. :o

All kinds of excited for this now.

I think I'll wait on reviews / a sale for this one, what I've seen of it so far just strikes me as very much 'more of the same', down to the sections where you're on drugs / hallucinating. The season pass actually looks quite interesting though, particularly the Vietnam & Mars ones.

Ya, I'm excited for the season pass and goodies, well, at the price point that Smyths had it for when compared to pretty much everywhere else.

I dunno...this PC Gamer video kind of drove a point home for me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,281 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

It really is a fine line between too much and not enough. I just hope, going by that video, that you don't need to use these npc's and you can solo the whole thing. That'll end that argument!

Quote from Far Cry 5 Executive Producer confirms the main game length...
Executive producer Dan Hay says you should budget a good chunk of time to play the campaign--around 25 hours--but that's just the start. "I would say that a good player will go through it in 25 hours," Hay told GameSpot during an interview recently.

Hay went on to say that, based on playtests, Ubisoft has seen players getting distracted from the main story with things like fishing or hunting, which will extend the total playtime. Of course, everyone plays differently, and in a game like Far Cry 5 that lets you play your own way, 25 hours could turn into many more.

I think it's fair to say that if you blaze through a Far Cry game without getting distracted by something you are doing it wrong! :D:D

I'd imagine they will be similar enough to AC: Origins, crafting packs and stuff like that for the people too lazy to just play through the game and get them naturally.
