Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Tried emailing GoMo "support" but..... lol. You don't get mobile for a tenner a month without cutting some corners!

yeah I think thats pretty much what this offer is, pay them a tenner a month but dont dare to bother them for technical support

GoMo support is non existent - Ive been left more than FOUR days without my number because they ported me to someone else's number and GoMo wont respond to tweets or mails (sent three).

    GoMo (no) Support -- 100% USELESS !

Be warned - they offer NO support !

That doesn't surprise me. Telecom Eireann support is useless too though but at least after 20 mins on hold you get to talk to someone who can do feck all for you

My 24 month contract with Vodafone is ending next month and I’m extremely tempted to switch but this offer just seems too good to be true.
However, I’ve been happy with Vodafone’s coverage and especially abroad, I always have great coverage from them so I don’t know if it would be worth switching in the long term, especially as Vodafone have boosted their 15GB a month data allowance to 30GB for my current price plan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,184 ✭✭✭riclad

it,s not too good to be true,
they want to get more customer,s ,
So they are offering a great deal,80 gig data.
Calls to all networks for good price.
They way they can do this ,is gomo has no shop,s .
    its all done online .
the coverage is the same as eir.
Most people are on a network, maybe they have a contract,
so they will not switch unless the new service is cheaper and provide,s
    a larger data allowance.
telecom eireann is now called eircom .
i think eircom owns eir the mobile phone company .

it,s like banks , most people just have one bank account ,they will not switch to another bank unless they have a good reason to do so.

Telecom Eireann ceased operations 20 years ago so being on hold for 20 minutes isn't bad at all really.

The French man who owns Eir now should get a medal for being able to get a defunct company to answer calls even after 20 minutes on hold.

It's just Telecom Éireann in a new suit of clothes. Same surly employees and mindset though.

most telecom eireann staff would be gone now, many were near retirement as the company was floated, the company has been gradually asset stripped since this flotation

Got my sim yesterday, popped it in, immediately worked. Ported my number, took about an hour, that worked well too.

Network performance seems good, especially compared to trashy ol' Lycamobile that I had before.
Definitely a good decision so far for me. We'll see what the future brings.

I don't know, with Lyca my mobile internet randomly stopped working for hours or even days. And the connection quality also wasn't that great, although most of the time enough for what I used it for. Anyway, I agree that GoMo is defo superior.

My internet in Lyca used to cut out for a few minutes at a time although most of the time it was fine. It disappeared for a few days last month and I rang them up and they said there was no network issue. I used to find phone calls would fade away and come back but I accepted all this because I wasn't paying much.
Delighted I made the move to GoMo. :)

I knew a girl several years ago who would get very very angry if she discovered my mobile phone anywhere near her body or head when she woke up in the morning,. She had become convinced from reading conspiratorial websites that magnetic waves (or some other such electromagnetic radiation) would effect her thinking or give her brain damage. I laughed at time (I was laughing anyway, as I enjoyed to listen to humorous podcasts at night before sleep), and she would often wake up with my mobile phone close to her face resting on the pillow beside. But actually, in the intervening years, I have had several experiences which lead me to believe there is some truth in her thoughts on this matter. (For example, I observed sophisticated robotic devices, hovering in living room, observing me (somewhat disinterestedly) (actually in ancient Greece there were demons classified by exactly this, the ability to enter your home, invisible to normal perception, keeping watch for sinister or unknown ends), unusual movements of artificial light directed with full autonomy as they sweep the area, and also I became aware that they were trying to influence people's behavior, subtly, by spreading personality types and general behavioral trends through some sort of hidden psychic network, thereby encouraging language which lowers the dignity of formal or serious speech, or thinking.
I was aware of one strain which was almost Rastafarian, and I was submerged in this unit for a while, but in fact it could be anything, for example, they could encourage sexual and misogynistic rumination, a limited role as a pretty little housewife, in any case, they will try to thwart human development by trapping people in primitive roleplays and conventions, by virtue of very limiting vocabulary and jargon, which, once repeated so often, works like magical spell. I will explain further at a later date.
I have also applied for the GoMo sim, but I don't know yet whether I will choose a new number, or keep my own, as the current one is difficult to remember and the new one provided by GoMo might be more 'snazzy' (better recall). I still didn't get my sim.

In addition someone else's privacy is been tramped on. I am getting their calls and messages. Please someone - sort this out.

Bloody hell how comreg gave this operation the go ahead is beyond me. Privacy issues galore with people being given other people's numbers. People left without service for days. It's farcical and now the website is down.

    It's slow due to uptake.

It didn't bother me at all.

As long as people accept that GoMo effectively offers NO support and the little that exists is junk, then go ahead and hope that there wont be issues. If there are issues you may be without service for several days or even weeks so be warned.

they're using the eir network, so should be reliable enough...as long as they don't fall out with eir

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,184 ✭✭✭riclad

You can go back to o2 or 3 if you have a serious problem,
the coverage is the same as eir , with a very generous data cap .
    Compared with other networks .
gomo is owned by eir, so there,s no chance of any falling out.

They're not just using the network, they are part of Eir.

    From their legal page

    "Who are we?
GoMo is a trading name of eircom Limited, Registered as a Branch in Ireland Number 907674, Incorporated in Jersey Number 116389, having its Irish branch address at 2022 Bianconi Avenue, Citywest Business Campus, Dublin 24 D24 HX03."

I ordered last Tuesday, 22nd, and got it yesterday, 31st.
BUT can't activate the SIM - put in PIN, it's accepted, but no service. Logged into their website which says my order is "in progress". Contacted GoMo yesterday, automated response says they reply within 24 hours but still waiting.
    :(

Hopefully it's teething problems, over-demand, etc.

Mine showed "in progress" for days after my port was completed with no issues, I wouldn't rely on that. Hopefully you get sorted. Strange to have no service at all on the original number with the SIM, most issues seem to be porting
