If it wasn't for the LED display and the 96/97 reg, I would've thought that picture was from the '80s, not 2010. Very old-fashioned-looking bodywork in comparison with what Dublin Bus would have been buying throughout the '90s.

Looks to be a Northern Counties body which is not really that different to the Alexander R which DB were still getting new at that time. It was horribly dated too, the first ALX400s looked like spaceships in comparison

Honestly the RV looked much smarter then that one posted....

    Smashing bus to drive.

Absolute rockets to go, they were much more comfortable then the SG bone shakers...

A particular issue I've noticed with the SG type is that the suspension sometimes randomly 'collapses' while driving, leaving the whole bus on the floor. The ride suddenly becomes even more bumpy than normal, and if you go over a ramp the front of the bus ends up taking a chunk out of the road. I've found that it fixes itself if you hit the ferry lift on and off. Twice, I've reported this to engineering, but when they plug the laptop in, it doesn't show any error.

The SGs rattle more because they had to use lighter weight parts in order to comply with Euro 6 emissions standards it's the same with the Enviro 400MMCs and the new ADL hybrids will likely have similar issues to the SGs when it comes to rattling.

The RVs were good for speed but poor for passenger comfort water often got in around the windows and I have noticed a similiar issue with the EVs.

The sg are horrible at best....

    You feel every little bump...

The rattle is also terrible and many it's down to loose bars, not tied down flooring and especially around the cab, the screen comes loose and the safe housing and so on...

I agree. It often seems to me as a passenger that the rattles have been down to build quality. I think most Wrights buses DB have gotten over the years have rattled from new, but have significantly fewer rattles when come back from overhauls.

Finally a new location for me to photograph a bus, but still within the 5km zone. VWD 18 is seen in Balrothery with a southbound 101 to Dublin. This village is to the south of Balbriggan, but prior to the coming of the railway in the 19th century, was the important town of the two. However the railway allowed the mill and textile industry to develop and this along, with the harbour and fishing industry, allowed Balbriggan to develop more. Today Balbriggan has a population of around 22,000 and Balrothery a population of around 2,000.

The 1st batch can the 2nd lot should be 17.
There was an extra seat row in the 1st lot up to 21 if I recall.

I think Summerhill GTs are lower too because of the extra luggage racks for the Airport.

I saw a GAI ex DB GT that said it could carry 18 at the the side. All the GAI GTs are 2013 so from the more recent batch. Is that a mistake?

Quite likely, I haven't been on in a while I'll have a look if I can.
