Did my first bit of parkrun volunteering today at my local event due to not being able to run right now. Was good to do something different, but glad it was only just over 140 people that I had to scan the barcodes of and not the 400+ that you guys are getting at Marlay and Malahide.

Bringing the girlfriend and her mother next week too, they had previously never dreamed of doing any kind of "formal" running before so it's great that something like this will allow them to give it a go...
And it's free!!!! Griffeen Parkrun in Lucan kicks off on June 15th at 09:30.

Any news of other Parkruns starting up? Phoenix Park would be great for me personally, and a great venue too. Might make it to Malahide yet...

It has already been stated by someone involved in parkrun in a previous thread that Dublin City Council have turned down a request for a parkrun in the Phoenix Park due to the number of running / cycling and other events in the park over the course of a year.

I haven't heard of any more being considered in Dublin at the moment. The three that are already taking place probably need to get established wrt enough regular volunteers before anyone will volunteer to start up another one.

Negotiations to start St Anne's parkrun going well we are targeting a post holiday start some time in September. We have an event director but still need a pool of start up volunteers. If you are willing to help get in touch please
That was posted on June 25th, I don't know of any others in development.

Also, apparently there will be no Marlay Parkrun on July 20th, due to the Longitude Festival.

Thats correct, St Anne's start date is earmarked for 28th September. I am coordinating efforts for this parkrun, and I'll kick off a separate boards thread for it in the near future with further information. There'll be the usual facebook page, website etc to follow as we get closer to start date.

Looking forward to getting this one off the ground. In the meantime, feel free to PM if you are interested in helping out in any capacity in the early runs as we seek to get it off the ground smoothly.

If anyone is interested in seeing a Parkrun established in Ardgillan Demesne in Balbriggan you can vote here to try to help win start up funding from the Guinness Projects Fund:

You can vote daily if you so desire!

According to that article there seems to be one in the offing for Clonakilty in Cork also, does anyone know anything about that?

Hopefully we will see increased adoption of these across multiple counties in the near future.

Might be of interest to any Beer Milers out there, but the world record holder Josh Harris is interviewed on this weeks parkrun show Australia:

Another parkrun show Australia link for you guys, this time Sonia O'Sullivan gets interviewed and mentions the Macroom parkrun:

The section with people trying to make animal noises is just a bit odd.
