after a lovely start this morning, today went downhill quickly. Not enough rain here to wet the ground but it's really chilly this evening.

Hmmmm....not arguing about the temperatures.... but when it's accompanied by rain and strong gusty wind I wouldn't call it "very mild"!

Ex-Tropical feeling here in Wicklow this morning- definite change in airmass from yesterday evening, warm and humid. Any rain we've had here lately seems to have been in small amounts and has fallen during night time hours. Hard to believe others are saying there hasn't been a dry day in their area since early August! For a small country we sure do get big variations.

Warmth from ex Dorian gave a 17.1c AWS reading at 2.37am. Very little rain from it which is unusual considering that nocturnal warmth! Interestingly that was the highest temperature of September 10th (10am》10am).

Breezy with sunny spells now in South Laois with temperatures around 17c.

Yep, latest models with both GFS and ECM showing an area of rain pushing into the west this weekend. Why am I not surprised?

i think downgrades were very likely, the charts from a few days ago were stunning. The west and north-west could get a dry day on Friday but it will turn unsettled there from Saturday night into Sunday and looks like damp and cloudy conditions will persist there for much of next week.

The south and east could stay dry for the next 10 days, but even there Sunday's rain may still cross the country. As for temperatures low to mid 20's is definitely off the table at this stage, a few places may still reach 20C over the next few days, but most places staying in the mid to high teens.

Our new climate in Sligo seems to be January to July a few good months a few bad months

August to December rain every day

I knew the high pressure was a joke. Long dry sunny spells are as rare as snow. So 2018 broke the trend but so did 2010 for snow.

The trend is for drying though so we may get a few cloudy days with no drizzle in October when its 12c

Honestly can't remember the last proper sunny day in the NW, we've had the odd sunny morning or evening here and there but always fleeting and short lived. Do you know if we had one in Spring at all?

Not the worst day today in Letterkenny but as always some rain and drizzle and plenty of cloud. Friday now looks like our only hope of a dry day and even then I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with cloud and drizzle

Well. Put it this way. This is the time I would be out for an early walk with the cats, meandering the silent lanes picking berries and gazing out at the ocean.

Sheeting with sideways deluges and gusts of ferocious wind... Not kind! So no outing but jam making will go ahead with berries already gathered .

Still no contact with Canada east coast extended faith family since Dorian and cannot even make meaningful phone contact with the Sunshine Coast folk.

Gabrielle is not dead yet either

A day to snuggle not struggle.. the cats have the right idea. Asleep!

I remember you saying in April or May that you were getting dry and sunny conditions with the hope that’s not your summer for the year. Look how that turned out.
