I remember you saying in April or May that you were getting dry and sunny conditions with the hope that’s not your summer for the year. Look how that turned out.

Had a look through photos and I have some from 31st March, 22nd April and 6th of May with cloudless skies, guess we did have a few in Spring at least!

And for what it's worth, a miserable wet, drizzly morning here again

The periphery of the tropics this morning
I'm out in the fields fencing and it feels very warm in this sun and this has been frequent since july!

Think we all need to move to arklow!

Cloudy, humid and some drizzle every now and then in cork city this morning again.

Heavy dark clouds around, but the sun is poking through between them giving a few brief spells. An unusual setup here in South Laois. Dry, quite humid and almost 20c in a moderate southwest breeze.

Much the same out here on the west coast and no need to light the stove today.

Sunny and very humid in south Dublin . Clouds are gathering now for who knows what they bring

Been mainly cloudy in north Dublin with the odd sunny spell. Pretty boring as this September has been so far. Literally nothing standing out about it.

the next two weeks look very uneventful too. The only good thing is we won't be having another very wet month after August.

That anticyclonic spell in April (or was it May?) was beautiful. Hazy skies and not too warm. It was great to see the sunlight on the ground having that filtered orange tint. Sunshine in Ireland normally is that glaringly white, wet looking type that bleaches all colour from the sky, so it made for a nice change.

Heavy rain all day Sunday now

Wet days look few and far between on the latest guidance...for our part of the world at least:

Drizzly morning in Dublin 5/9 followed by nice weather but then there was a moderate shower and it's been overcast since then.

A really beautiful week ahead from tomorrow. A bit of cloud in some areas at times but mostly sunny and warm for the time of year.

Hope everyone enjoys while it lasts

Just looking at the NAO figures for the Summer gone, and out of the 92 days, 79, or 85.9%, of them came in with a negative value. Unusual, yes, but not unprecedented. We have only to look back at 2016, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010 & 2009 to see roughly similar figures which is notable in itself, as summers with a high number of negative values have occurred quite frequently since 2009, as we have to look back as far as 1958 to see values that are on par, and at 88 days, is still the year with the highest No of - days during the summer months.

Edit, added chart to better explain.
    5hyqqQV.png

An interesting, if totally pointless stat, is that overall, Autumns following a summer with such a high volume of negative NAO days are slightly more favoured (around a 62% prob) to finish slightly wetter than average. Let's see how that works out this time around.

Have to confess I don't remember the sunny spell during the spring (even though I have photos as evidence :o) but agreed, I love that hazy desert-like sun with an orange tint to the sky, especially in May/June with the long evenings.

Turned out a lovely evening here now after the rain cleared, lets hope it holds for tomorrow
